Not the least bit surprised that the Inuit figured out the _best_ solution for comfort and warmth too. You have remarkable perseverance to have stuck with this until you got a design that worked. I think once I get to the point of perfecting a roll, I'll be getting one. I have a custom drysuit (and I don't mind the neck gasket), but you're 100% right; it does nothing to help your head and ears.

I've said it before, the person that designs it through trial and error, going through several prototypes and then also uses that item, well.... If you're lucky enough to find that person, it's like hitting the lottery. I won't name, names but the one I had made somewhat custom, didn't fit. I sent it back for alterations and still didn't fit. The item cost and shipping became so ridiculous I finally gave up and sold it on eBay at a loss. They weren't really interested in getting it right. That's why having someone like you Paulo is a blessing to the Kayak community.

I'm glad you managed to make this, and hopefully I might be able to order one in the future, when they become available again! Are you the only one who's making them?

I have watched many of your vids ,and noticed you use a sailling syle pfd.Ive been in the water many times practising rolls and re entering etc and always the kayak style pdf ends up almost coming over my head when im in the water and if I tighten it then its very restrictive when paddling . Does yours have the self inflating design or can you activate it only in extreme conditions ?

What happens if you end up out of your boat, though?

I want your Tuilik! I’m a Greenland paddler returning to the nest and am relearning my skills. I moved south and the heat put me into a sit-on-top fishing kayak. I finally bought a new boat (Eddyline Sitka LT) and am practicing my hard-learned skills from the past. I’m still fine tuning the fit of my seat/foot pegs and backband. I’m really getting into relearning my rolls, braces and skulls. I’m still using the same Greenland paddle/storm from 30 years ago. Awesome video and such great technique. Yes, I clicked SUBSCRIBE! I want a Tuilik!

Us sailors use gumbi suits when it’s survival cold. That’s as good as it gets

I really enjoyed hearing your journey in developing your gear. Do you wear anything under this tuilik in the event of a wet exit, or do you just rely on your skills and practice like the Inuit?

I wear a fleece hoody, and fleece pants with dry pants. I avoid doing a wet exit, and if I do I find that even though I get a bit wet I can easily warm myself up again.

@@DancingWithTheSea Thanks for replying. I just was looking around your website and saw the tunnel that works with dry pants. I'm building a Greenland skin on frame kayak currently and don't know the final dimensions for the skirt, but when I do I'll definitely budget for your tuilik!

You are such an inspiration Paulo! Thank You for your amazing videos and stories. I just made my own neoprene hatch covers, but need to find a product to seal the stitches. Having a regular sewing machine, I know your struggles 🤣. Thanks again!
