I'm watching from New Jersey... been to this market plenty of times in the 80s...bring back memories...fresh from Africa in the month of January... my late Mom took me to this market grocery shopping... I had a T-shirt and a very light jacket on ... I was freezing my nuts off. We used to live on Wood Street... off of Stocksfield Road... We walked all the way to the high street market and back... back at the house, my fingers were frozen... I headed straight for the kitchen sink and ran some warm water on my hands to ease the pain...it was like adding insult to injury.

I don’t love this market anymore, back in the day market use to be up and running by 7 am if not earlier, fully. Now some stall holders are still setting up at 10am. Sells a lot of rubbish all the good clothing shops are gone. All the east end sellers too,which made it an east end market. Got my first Saturday job in a shoe shop in the market. To me if I am honest, too many foreign traders selling rubbish, it’s taken the hart out of this market, It needs a balance of both and there is none here.
