Great video, try hitting each edge twice in the same direction before turning your knife around to get the other side at least until you get your bur, it keeps you from flipping your knife around so many times. Great system as i have used it for years, my only slight problem is getting my fillet knifes so razor sharp is that when i am filleting a crappy i sometimes cut right through the backbone because my knife is so sharp at least on the first side of the crappy because the first side doesn't sit as flat on the board as it does on the back side of the crappy. This paper wheel creates a hollow ground edge which i like on my knifes and tools.

Thanks. Yes, I still love this method and I’ve gotten better with it. Developing a burr on each side is a game changer, and this gets it done quickly. Gotta love a sharp knife!

Really enjoyed the video. There was a guy at a gun show a couple of years back that had this system. Wives sent their husbands to stand in line to get their knives sharp. I was amazed and always wondered what it was...until i saw your video. But this is exactly what he had. I have bought mine and looking forward to testing it. Thanks for the great video.

Nice video! It would be much easier and safer to sharpen your knives by having the wheels turning away from you, not towards you. That way, you get better control of the angle at the top of the wheel. For better precision, a "Tormek" type railing system used with a dedicated knife jig can be mounted at the front of the bench grinder. Extra cost obviously, but the difference is noticeable if you want perfect knife edges. Also advisable to wear a face mask. Metal & paste particules are not compatible with lungs.

Use both hands to control the blade. This is true of using bench stones as well. Do not use force to accelerate the sharpening. A final strop is in order and then periodically thereafter. 80% of your sharpening needs can be handled with a good strop and stropping techniques.

    • @leafinitup1

I wouldn’t recommend using this particular system for the broadheads. For knives it’s incredible, but the wheels can grab the broadheads and toss them. The Iron Will website /TH-cam channel has a good video on the best sharpening method for them.

I think you may have done the serration blade incorrectly. It looked like you kinda introduced the serrations into the wheel’s edge. Te way I believe it is to have been done was to only use the wheel to the non serrated sides of the blade and then the side opposite the serrated entirely to the polishing wheel and the serrated side to the polishing wheel. JUST THAT POLISHING WHEEL WILL BE ENOUGH TO “TWEAK” THE SERRATIONS. The way you did it you’ll run the risk of running your serrations. It’s your knife so it is absolutely your choice, I’m just trying to help you out.good luck.
