Thank you very much for the easy to understand tutorial. The money I was going to pay the pool guy, can now be sent to my grandson in college. I am 66yrs and Pops is 72yrs. We cleaned the grids with ease. We gained a wealth of knowledge. Thanks.

Hey! I really enjoyed your video as a first time pool owner needing to clean a DE4820. Before opening the dump cap, should the setting on the multi port valve be set to closed?

At 4 minutes 7 seconds when you are backwashing why is water coming out of the system? I thought the closed system wasn’t supposed to leak at all. Thank you for your consideration.

running backwards and dumping the DE out of the unit is a wash.

How often should this be done?

Most people do this based on a pressure rise as measured when the filter is first brought into service. If it climbs a good 6 to 8 psi its time to backwash, though, Ive found that backwash is a lazy approach to filter cleaning and I generally elect to do this.

Good video but everyone save your time and buy a sand filter lol

There are reasons why people dont use sand filters anymore.
