    I have had a pool for 20 years the first time the filter needed cleaning, Hayward Micro clear 48 SqFt DE filter, I had the pool store do it. After that decided to do it myself since I do all home repairs myself and it would take me anywhere from one hour to two days to reassemble the filter grid, if I was getting frustrated I would walk away and finish it the next day. Then I bought a complete new assembly so the down time for the pool would be minimal. This past week I cleaned the filter by changing out the assemblies, disassembled the dirty filters and after cleaning them I let them sit for three days because I forgot how I assembled the grid last time. Today I went looking for a video that showed how to assemble the grid and found yours. WOW! the job that normally requires me being in a Zen state and about an hour actually happened in 5 minutes, seriously it only took me 5 minutes! I could not believe how easy it was knowing that one little thing, start with the short filter put the end in the corner notch and the other end half way in the opening. The rest of the grids almost assembled themselves it was so easy. When I came back into the house I looked at the timer and realized I had only watched 3 minutes and 22 seconds of the video. I can't thank you enough for that one huge tip, so simple yet it made all the difference in the world. I have to say it again Thank You! I think I will watch the rest of the video now.

      Thank you sir for taking the time to explain your story and how frustrated it has been for you not knowing how to put them together. That is why I made the video to help others out because I could not find another video about how to put it together where they were showing the pattern like I do. Then it makes it so simple and eliminates needless frustration. I'm so thankful it was helpful and that brings me joy to know you were able to put it together in only 5 minutes. Great job and again thanks for the feedback. Take care.

    I have a Hayward DE pool which needed new grids. Watched over 10 other videos showing how to remove and “reinstall “ grids. NOT ONE video showed/explained pattern and how to place grids. After fighting my filter for over an hour, I came back and searched again. This time, your video showed up. Took me about 5-10 minutes to put grids back on and reassembled. THANK YOU. You are the only video that I watched that didn’t just make a TH-cam video but actually showed the pattern and process. This is a sign of a good teacher. Much appreciated.

    I watched this video a while back sitting on my stool outside getting frustrated with the reassembly of my DE6020 Filter elements so I googled on my cell and found this. I thought the pool guy we had did a lousy job and I'm sure he never removed the elements to give them a "deep clean" so I parted pays with him. This video make it crystal clear, and now I feel much better about pulling those elements out, cleaning them the right way and reassembling the whole array without any aggravation. Kudos on the fantastic explanation. I love to see the result every time I clean the filter. Good flow, and clean water.

    You are a lifesaver budd! Yesterday, our dog knocked over a whole container of potting soil into the pool and gummed up a lot of the system and I needed to clean it, took the filter housing off to reveal this type of grid system and oh my god I thought taking a picture of it would make it super simple.. or so I thought. After nearly getting heat exhaustion from the 103° heat, I took the whole assembly inside and flipped it upside down cause the top piece was the hard part. I laid all the grids into the top piece first instead of the bottom cause there were more slots and grooves on that piece. Slightly snugged it down with the wing nut and adjusted everything. Worked like a charm!! If a 19 year old with no experience with pool filters can do it, ya'll can do it!

    It was easy to take out the filter assembly in my friend’s Hayward filter to clean the ribs. Putting them back into the assembly without looking at any video was quickly not working. This video and another one we found, after repeated views and hiccups along the way, finally permitted putting it back the right way. We did an overnight pool shock, and opened the filter the next day. Enough material was picked up to need another rib cleaning. We were more intelligent this time, and kept the ribs together using an old belt. Ribs were removed and put back one at a time, and it was a much better process. Instead of a belt, a bungee cord should work, as well as an old o-ring for the filter. We also added some marks to the ribs to further guide us next time this needs to be done. Consider adding these suggestions to a future video. Thanks for taking the time to make your video to help us out.

      The grid sizes are 24, 36, 48, 60 or 72 sq ft. You probably have 60's if they are 30 inches tall. To verify your size, measure the height of the grid, if it's 18 inches tall you have 36's. If it's 24 inches tall you have 48's.

      Yep when I first put one together it took me several times to figure it out, but once you know the pattern it's easy.

    Is the parcel one the smallest?
    I tried taking them out from the outer layers then laid them out so I could clean them.
    My previous pool guy replaced all of the grids but he busted some of the ribs during the assembly.
    7 months later is see that.

      The PARTIAL or small grid is the one that is smaller than the other 7.

    Thanks for video, so im working with a Jandy dev60 the sticker says “effective filtration area (sq. ft.)” 60. I’m using a16oz coffee cup which i think its equal to 1 pound, does that mean i have to add 6 cups of DE? No matter how big the pool or spa is.

    • @truelightpoolsllc4441
      @truelightpoolsllc4441  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Add 1 pound of DE per 10 pounds of filtration area to help the filter be the most effective at filtering. Doesn't matter the size of what you are filtering.

    Thank you. They should include your video when you buy a grid set.
    I got stuck for a while using a new manifold where flashing on the long screw hole did not let it pass all the way through. After i realized what yhe probably was it went together fine.

    Terrific DIY video. I would add that prior to disassembly of the grid assembly, tying a chord around the diameter of the whole assembly and then using the knotted loop as an extra hand during reassembly was useful to keep any shifting grids from falling away during the described procedure.
    The bottom frame is from one of the earlier filters but with new grids and other parts availability you can enjoy added years of use of an older shell.

    Thanks, lots of good info. But I dread it every time I do it because aligning the filters to the coupling takes forever. Soon as you get a couple aligned correctly the other ones pop out. Eventually a miracle happens and they all set in place, but not without many iterations.

    • @truelightpoolsllc4441
      @truelightpoolsllc4441  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha, I and many others know your frustration. I can offer a tip that may help. First, set the base on level ground, then arrange all the grids standing up. I then take the manifold, put the center rod through it and with downward pressure on the manifold I go around one by one getting the necks of the grids into holes on the manifold. Look for the grids that are preventing you from pushing the manifold down. Sometimes I have to go around twice before I have the manifold down as far as it will go. I hope this helps some. Keep at it and it gets easier.
