Cheddar Gorge Cliff-Top Walk: One of Britain's GREATEST Natural Wonders!

- Join us on this spectacular 4 mile circular cliff-top walk around one of Britain's greatest natural wonders, Cheddar Gorge.
This walk starts from a free, limited parking area at Black Rock Gate (BS27 3QF), going sharply uphill until it levels off at the top of the Gorge. From this spot you will be able to see the whole of Cheddar, Cheddar Reservoir and Glastonbury Tor in the distance.
The views are incredible as you follow the cliff-top path around and down towards Jacobs Ladder. The steps of Jacobs Ladder lead to the main high street of Cheddar and is where the show caves can be seen. Sadly, in the current situation these are not open to the public at the moment.
The cliff-top path can be picked up again from the opposite side of the road. After another steep climb up, the views once again open out to reveal the whole of the Gorge. Following the path, it eventually drops down into a wooded area and keeps dropping until it finally meets back up with the parking area.

Not living in the UK I have never heard about the Cheddar Gorge before, but now I see that I have missed a little gem in Englands green and pleasant land:) This area is very scenic and I can imagine how satisfying it is to hike there (even if rain and mud can dampen your spirits somewhat). What I feel sorry for you about is that wild camping is a lot harder for you than in my place, but then you have less land and more people around:)
@@ArcticNatureExperiences your channel is excellent, you have some wonderful and awe inspiring videos. Scotland have something called the right to roam, its slot easier to get out and about up there. Sadly yes there are alot more restrictions in England and Wales, maybe one day this will change..people have to show the land respect first, and that we can be trusted to leave it as its found. As for wild camping the right to roam is a fundamental right in Norway. There are very few areas where you can not camp. So I have one observation. Most wild camping movies I have seen from England use tents that are olive drab or camouflaged. My tents are bright red. It says something about the difference for wild campers between our countries. Ok, I hope lock down will ease soon for you so you can get out in the wild again:-)

This is a fab video. I've only walked through the gorge which was sometime ago now. Beautiful area and would definitely return one day. I like the Little Robins flowers, I'll keep an eye out for them in future. ATB.

Not been there since I was a kid, so good to see it again. As I remember we just drove though it and visited the caves and nice to see it from several view points. Looked a great day to be out, just wish we could get out as well. Take care and Happy New Year to you both, cheers Alan

An excitable intro and straight into details of the journey (goof stuff). Noticed some nice panning shots and also some use of a tripod (wonder what you were actually using?) Standing over the edge of the cliff (cliffing) without a Stinger isn’t a great idea. Nice bit of narration by Kat (done at home?) - nice tone and mixed well. Then more narration (Kat again) “on set” - just like Tony Robinson does with Time Team (they also did Cheddar Gorge) Can’t believe you didn’t go up Jacob’s tower! Then, at 19:12, a new shot for me (you’ll have to watch it back lol). It was a simple little take but I haven’t seen it done in any other videos, anywhere, ever - nice touch. Obviously a thumbs up from me. Jac 8)

It has great adjustability on uneven ground and can attach/ wrap around posts and tree limbs too...learning this for new action shots! This is one place I need to go snd explore and after this brilliant video its made me want to do it pretty soon. Some nice bits of flat grass round there too 👀👀

Yeah! Even on that day, which was unusually quiet people wise, folk were belting up and down in their cars, must be pretty stressful for local people. I think you could park in the lay by overnight, might be a touch risky, perhaps somewhere down in the village might be safer. Yeah, we noticed a few flat spots for a sneaky nap🏕 Glad you enjoyed the vid Storb, hope you had a good yule tide and we wish you every happiness in 2021 x
How long is the walk?
About 90 minutes around, depending on personal fitness, photos and tea stops of course. It's no too strenuous, a couple of short sharp inclines. Happy New Year, Ceri and Kat ❤️👍☕️
