    Thanks @DocCherryDPT I was a left side sleeper most of my life, I heard it about aiding digestion a long time ago. However I’ve discovered through recent imaging, I have scoliosis. I’m 66 and have an adjustable bed, and sleep mostly on my back. I’ve found this helpful for relieving lower back pain. Any other suggestions for scoliosis? I know it can’t be reversed, but I want to learn how to adapt in the best possible way moving forward. I’m active and walk a couple of miles daily.

      Hi Kv, do you know the degree of your curve? Usually you have nothing to worry about if its mild and moderate and you are diagnosed as an adult. The progression of the curve is very minimal as compared to those diagnosed at a younger age where the growth plate haven't closed yet.
      If you need to carry something, use a backpack to evenly distribute the load in your spine. Also, avoid these 7 habits below about proper body ergonomics:

    I am 75 and my body decides which position I sleep in. I may fall asleep in position on my side. IF I use pillows I find them on floor in morning. Only time I sleep in one position is IF I fall asleep in recliner.

      True i sleep in a position that i am comfortable have cousin sleeps on there stomach and we doing just fine sorry but every body sleep in a position they feel comfortable far as my pillow i sleep with my head and neck resting on it shoulders below the pillow and not going change the way i sleep at my age

    Nice information. I have upper and lower back issues, along with Sinus drainage and blockage; and sleep apnea. I have been sleeping with a wedge pillow under my pillow to raise my back and head up. I also use a CPAP. I tried sleeping on my side, but my shoulder gave me a lot of pain. Do you recommend anything else that a person can use to improve their sleep health?

    Thank you for your videos ..but actually I was told I have SLEEP APONEA 2 months ago and starting using CPAP ( bit fiddly ) it feels bit better ..but I have other issue hiatal hernia..for longtime 😢 so I am not sure if right side posture is adequate I feel burning sensation resulting in throat irritation sneezing feeling like cold or allergy so what you recommend Dr Cherry hope you make video about hiatal hernia and more about home remedies to contract SLEEP APONEA.       Hi Maam Wilma, with scoliosis if its mild, no need to worry. The progression in adult diagnosis is not something alarming as opposed to those who were diagnosed as a child since our growth plate is already closed, the severity of progression is minimal. You just have to manage the discomfort conservatively every now and then and avoid using heavy shoulder bags.
      With spondylosis it refers to osteoarthritis, if it is in the lumbar spine, check this video, you can do this exercise at home:

      Hi maam Millie, height doesn't matter with your pillow so long as it can properly support the head, neck and shoulders while you sleep. It shouldn't be too high as well is it can cause neck and upper back pain. Good materials that you can look into are memory foam and latex.

      Hi Shane, osteopenia is a condition before it progresses into Osteoporosis or brittle bones. Calcium supplements and vitamin d will help. For exercises, weight-bearing exercises like running, squats, stair climbing are best, gravity in doing these exercises will help strengthen your bone cells

    I have severe emphysema and can no longer lay flat
    I sleep in a a reclined position supported by pillows but last yr I discovered I had two severe wedge fractures at T 6/7 due to having severe osteoporosis and now have developed kyphosis due to the fractures
    I also have dengerative disk disease which since having the fractures has become very painful
    I can get get comfortable on my sofa still in a reclining if position but I’m worried I’m not keeping my back straight
    It feels more comfortable if a stick my hands underneath my bottom but then my shoulders don’t feel as relaxed as they should
    Can you please suggest a good position for me please bearing in mind I can’t lay flat because of my emphysema

      Hi Mia, try to incorporate supine position with a thin pillow below your knee. The most common contracture for the knee is flexion contracture.
