I'm almost 70! Tavares is a group that 'Stood the Tests of Time'! I loved them, my husband (12 years my junior), loves them, my daughters (ages 50 & 30), love them and "The World"..... DEFINITELY LOVES TAVARES! What a group! They definitely still fine as wine!❤❤
👋🏼Georgia loves you guys. Born in rural southeast Georgia, I share this with you. Your music built a tower of anticipation in the hearts of fans you will never meet. Georgia loves you all!👏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Love that they still speak with our New England accent..."we stahted"...❤❤❤ I have loved them since my early teens. Saw them live for my 30th birthday in 1980...they are Superstars in my memories! "Kojak, won'cha bring 'em back! Whodunit?"
Wow I really enjoyed watching this. They were are gifted and talented brothers. They remind me so much of my other favorite group also a family of 7 boys and 3 girls. It hurt so much losing Michael my favorite and now this. Ralph was gorgeous my favorite. Can't believe he's gone😔😢
Wonderful group of brothers, first discovered them in 1976, i was 12. Still listen to them today and always will. Got to say the Cape Verdeans are nice looking people, I know a family or two. Not being superfical.
@@944gemma Fairly musical??? Grammy, movie soundtrack in Saturday Night Fever.....touring 40 years....many top hits...packing crowds at concerts.....get more famous as years go by.....Hall of fame for music...Millions upon millions of records sold...gold records and albums....and known by first names....yep! They could be considered "FAIRLY MUSICAL" HAHA 🤤 🎶🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🎶😉
I first found out about the Tavares Brother through Master Joe Pina and then, schooled by Johnny Fontes of Onset...I love to discover the history of my people and everytime I hear about the Tavares Brothers, it puts a smile on my face. I would love to see them together again! - Fredson Gomes (New School Fan #1)
This is one of my favorite groups of all-time! I was born in i83' & grew up listening to their music and music from their era. I have a great appreciation for it & can listen to it all day! Proud to know that these Brothers aren't only from the same culture as I am but from the same neighborhood as well.
LOVE U ALL!! SO VERY PROUD of you!! GOD BLESS!! U are and always were an inspiration to me and now to my children! Thank you Thank u Thank u!!! Robin (Tavares-Russell)
That's the beauty of being Cape Verdean, the close knit community. The cv's in America have never forgotten our roots and stay a tight group of people! Being young, you missed a great era!
I'm cape verdian also and I can't believe that this is my first time hearing about u guys but I'm proud to hear that u guys made ur self to the top and still being pround to be cape verdians dammm
Providence and New Bedford Repping! I am original Brooklyn cat but grew up part of my life in Providence. Got to know Tavares and of course, other star from LTD, Jeffrey Osborne.
I first heard them in early '74 while on assignment near Fall River Mass. I got their first album and enjoyed all the songs on it such as Check it Out, If That's the Way That You Want It and That's the Sound That Lonely Makes. I followed them as they went disco and became widely known and saw them live at disco clubs in the NY area. Some people I knew from Providence knew them from their early days when they were known as Chubby and the Turnpikes.
Very unheralded artist, great great songs. Even with that being said that damn Pooch is even more unheralded, what baritone compatible to Ruffin and Junior from the Dells.
I was listening to Pooch's BEAUTIFUL BARITONE one day and could not figure out who he sounded like and then it hit me. He sounded like one of the guys from the 70's soul group The Ebonys. They sang "You're The Reason Why", "It's Forever".and "I Believe". I like Pooch's baritone better because it's much smoother while the guy from The Ebonys is more gospel like .It's like he's taking you to church whether you want to go or not!!! That is fine too but again Pooch's rich baritone wins me over.
Their sister, Eva, was breaking from her boyfriend. He was abusive. It was her birthday and they were in a restaurant/ bar lounge. Chubby was sitting beside her at bar talking when here ex boyfriend came in with a gun. Was going to shoot her. ,,,.Chubby got in front of her to protect her. The guy shot Chubby 3 times. When he fell down the guy shot Chubbys sister in the head. Killing her.. Chubby was in ICU and serious for awhile. He nearly died....But he pulled through. His son was shot and killed outside his hotel the night before Chubby was meeting him to move him to Florida where Chubby lived. The murderer was sought for years. Chuubby would not let police rest until he was found. Chubby offered large reward and the guy was arrested many years later. It has been hard life for Chubby and the family Tavares. ⚘🙏⚘
Eva was their half-sister, same mother. I think this was in 1971 or so and his son was killed in 2001. It was the first thing I read on the internet ever. I was very shocked. Ralph became a court officer when he left the group, so he helped Chubby searching for the guy.
Exactly, Victor Tavares is one of my most very favorite people on Earth, we are just like brother and sister and his beautiful Wife Tina is such a sweetheart of a lady and I just love their 2 precious little fur babies ( Dogs) , Jake who belongs to Victor and Savanna who belongs to Tina. Victor rescued her from a Shelter and gave her to Tina and those 2 are absolutely crazy about each other and Savanna never ever forgot Victor's kindness and is just as crazy about Victor just as she is Tina and Jake is a precious little honeybunch also, a real cool guy, Lol. I praise God for their fabulous existence within my life, love all of the wonderful Tavares family and their sensational music, they are my most very favorite group of all time ❤️💯👍🎵🎙️🤗
Yes he was and although she was a professional dancer, he could dance better than her, watch him on “ Free Ride “, no disrespect, she was beautiful and very talented !
