I was blessed to see Bruce Lee in person one year later in 1968 Washington DC at the Jhoon Rhee National Karate Championship do his twenty minute demonstration. He was unbelievable and pure magic. The same day I saw Joe Lewis defend his heavyweight title. By that time he was a student of Bruce. Will never forget that day.

How extremely Lucky you were indeed! How fast was He in person because any footage you see of Him, his Explosiveness is just something we don't even see today. Scary, Scary Speed and Instant Blurs of Movement.

Dannik Jerricko He brought a Guy on stage to demonstrate his one inch and 6 inch punch and also he would show his hand speed by coming so close to the guys nose it was like faster than the human eyes could see. He was also so confident and charismatic that when he spoke you could hear a pin drop. I have read most of his books and seen all the five films and documentaries about him. If you follow him closely, he always talks about his finger jab to an opponents eyes. Imagine in a no rules street fight how quickly he could blind an opponent. He always says if you challenge him, you had better kill him. I just turned 76 but have followed him all those years after seeing him that day. Peace.

Jhoon Rhee once said Bruce is like one who has practiced for more than seventy years of ordinary traditional martial arts disciples. He also suggested the Governor of San Francisco to fix the birthday of Bruce as " Bruce Lee's Day". From these one can see how much Jhoon Rhee respected and admired Bruce. Mind you that Jhoon Rhee was the " Father of Taekwondo in the USA" at that time

If somebody or some else really taught Bruce Lee how to kick higher and better then this is the guy who could be responsible Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee...!!!

    Very cool.
Why did they have a portrait of Bruce, was he already highly regarded at that time?

I would loved to have heard what Bruce was saying but It looks like if you know what to look for then you'll understand what's happening in the video...
This is best upload yet to out across something I discovered by chance & I found out that Bruce already when this & that is when wearing the color Black the camera filling finds it difficult to keep up with the images & it's difficult to film but in an odd way it makes what's moving look faster than it is...
Now before I get any replies stating Bruce was fast , as I know he was fast , & had no issue taking his top off & it still looked blinding fast but I do feel for Bruce as he was the one out of all of them who was more lucky to be harmed by the warm of pulling muscles as he has to control where he's going to put his feet or hand's & when there's no kinetic action via actual touch then , again , Bruce has to slightly pull his punches & his kicks...
Choreographing a fight is different to doing moves with for instance a Kata as there's no one in your line of sight & you instinctually know when you've reached your maximum distance with your hand's & feet & you don't overreach but in choreography back then it had not caught up with Bruce's way of choreographing his fight scenes & this is what makes them even more special is the fact he could try his best to look like he connected , for example , in Fist Of Fury , the dojo fight scene you can clearly see the a few stuntmen pulling away too early & some of his kicks don't look like they've connected enough because of the angle it was shot at...
Back then Bruce would've been gradually building up a group of the same like minded stuntmen that were martial artists also like Jackie Chan & Samo Hung , with both appearing in a few of his movies but it was a case of blink & you'd miss them , well apart from what almost looks like what you'd see in many Various Martial Arts Schools across the world would be the padded hand gloves that would detract any full blows should it go too far...
But at the level of Bruce Lee/Samo Hung & Jackie Chan this wouldn't happen until Jackie & Samo decided it was time to make any blows struct looked like they hit because they were going to hit & that in itself is not as easy as many think!.
As you have to gauge how hard was hard enough to sell a kick or punch that looked just right so that it looked like it did more damage but we know fine well thar Jackie & Samo along with a few western martial artists were going to make movies with both of them or in their own movies & from all accounts in the Asian choreographed fight scenes they just went for it as the Director shout hit harder but thankfully Jackie & many more either used Jackie Chan's Stuntman & Fight Choreography school to work out their fight scenes & as fans of Asian Gung Fu action movies with Jackie & Samo it just got nuts with the fight scenes & Jacky always seemed to want to out do his last stunt & is known around the world as not just a great martial artist but of the best stuntman in the film industry for decades...
Bruce's fight scenes would have become even more better by building up the confidence in his fellow stuntmen/,martial artist by showing them he could be a whiskers hair away from your face with his foot & not hurt you & you could see this slowly happening between each film & I honestly believe he would've bet Jackie Chan to opening a school that's purely fir training & working on fight scenes , at any angle that they could , & make them look even better...
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...
