114 scu is the best configuration ive come up which leaves some wiggle room at the door which is where the bottleneck of the ship is. 4 8scu 7 4 scu and 11 2 scu boxes and you can load it and unload it in a quarter of the time it takes to try to fill every space.

Now there is no wasted space, allowing *you* the choice of whether to leave a gap down the middle and make load/unload easier, or not. *You* chose "not" ...and wow, so predictably its harder. Yes it's cramped, but the biggest issue is that boxes stick to each other and have been like that for a couple of patches. It's like they are just slightly wider than they are supposed to be which is why you couldn't slide the 2scu box between the eights despite there clearly being enough room. On the 315p, the boxes cement themselves together as well and i have to auto-unload them.
Meanwhile in the 600i there's enough space to fit nearly 300 SCU, but the grids only accept 1 or 2 SCU crates, and only 24 SCU of the grid is easily accessible, and you can only take 1 SCU crates to the other 20 SCU grid. I once took an 8 SCU hauling mission and got 4 crates off-grid before it blew up.
personally i don't think it's a bad cargo grid design i like how they didn't waste any space in the cargo space. and it fits 2 32scu container, which is a good competitor to C1

Who thought that making the players manually load their Cargo was intuitive and fun gameplay? I haven't played this game in months and this crap doesn't make me want to touch the game ever again
I actually haven't tried hauling with my C1 after they introduced these elevators. So you just park outside the elevator, buy 3x 32 SCU boxes, and load them with your co-pilot tractor beam?
@@Jarvice I haven't done it with the elevator either yet, but that's pretty much the idea. You can just use the big tractor beam if you are only doing the 3 big boxes. I think you may be able to fit some smaller extra boxes in the component area in the rear, but haven't toyed with that either. If you do, then you'll have to use the rear tractor beam on the ship since you won't be able to access the outside then.
You're gonna be thinking about that when fragile/explosive cargo is in game. I know I don't want a 32SCU bomb bouncing around all loosey goosey in the back...
X3 32 SCU is easy to load/unload in the Zeus CL. 2 containers on the cargo grid, and the 3rd one off cargo grid. With extra room to store more (smaller) containers. And you can enter the ship using the ladder.
I'm just thinking this is a new ship surely they have cargo loading in mind right and there's loads of older ships that have it way worse true. I'm just disappointed that a new ship with the new cargo system feels so weird
the problem is the reclaimer was made before the ship actually worked so they didn't plan it out or consider any of the different sizes of cargo boxes. with luck they will give it a serious revisit to fix the issues. most likely they will put out the reclaimer MK 2 or something and sell that.
The problem with the cargo grid is the reason i have drop the ship and gone over to the starlancer even without a in ship tractor beam i feel its a better cargo ship for me.
I'm with you on that. I upgraded my C1 to the Zeus CL and the cargo grid on the Zeus was a bit of a sad surprise. It's 128 theoretical. Very hard to fill it up if you're not using only 1 SCU boxes.
.5m taller, .5m wider and all would be good. This is why semi trucks have a flat roof and flat loading from shipping docks. You almost never see ramps used when loading semi trailers. And the stupid door for the width of the cargo hold is dumb. But then they could have had a little extra space at the back door depth wise if they reduced the step thing at the front of the cargo bay. Only need a single step to get from cargo floor to hallway. That porch thing is 4 SCU sized for some reason. ES has a tiny set of steps that take up almost no room. For some reason they put a porch in the CL to jam cargo against back door. The only way to load the CL is to load front to back each row as you go. You do not want to put them front to back all the way down the middle first. Gotta go from the front, left to right, then back a row, and left to right again. Repeat with last row at door with both sides then load into center. But the ridiculous door size and not flat roof makes that difficult as well. Just a bad design. C1 can load 6 crates and get 96 SCU. You have to hand tractor the middle 24 SCU crate as you walk into the cargo hold and then use the ship beam to do the last 8 SCU from bridge. To get just the official number for CL you need 30 crates. You can get 152 on the floor, and can toss more on the porch if you want, but quite cumbersome. I am pretty sure the C1 can run 152 SCU from planet to LEO station faster than the CL can do it even though the C1 needs 2 trips. But hey, at least neither ship can hold a Nursa.
i end up leaving the left hand row open so 4 instead of 5 rows so I can get to door controls. yeah It isnt maximized but its good enough unless I really need to pack it edge to edge
Thank you for showing a full run so we can see just how pinched it is. I was debating between the Freelancer MAX, Constellation Taurus and Zeus CL earlier and someone in SC chat said this is also much slower than the Taurus. Guess I'm down to debating on two.

Buen video, Amigo. Es cierto que el Zeus MK II CL es una nueva nave recién lanzada y se puede mejorar. I do not see myself always fully loading the Zeus. Yes I will have those issues when fully loading but the amount of snappable spaces adds additional versatility I didn't have with the Spirit. It comes down to how much cargo I want to load but for a medium size ship that is easy to land in tight spaces it is a better tradeoff compared to the Spirit and Cutlass. If I need better cargo loading I need a bigger ship. Great video and very insightful
I don't think CiG is gonna be able to fix these kinds of issues, and the easiest solution would be for all cargo ships to have cargo elevators like the Starlancer Max.
I think they will work on this. So you can move the cargo easier in the ship. Its not only a Zeus problem. On the other side, the Zeus was just released. They can improve it.
This was a key reason why I decided to give up my Zeus for a starlancer max. I get it, they’re different ships but I love doing cargo and I’m not enjoying loading the Zeus.
since it all snaps to a grid, they ought to either give the space within the ship to load cargo, bring back free autoloading for cargo, or work on having scu boxes moving and snapping to grid a little easier and consistent. considering the way they gutted flight physics from realistic to mario-brothers style for their own convenience, they have no leg to stand on not changing cargo physics to something more convenient for players...
I have both as they throw them in with Subscription, and not to knock the variants, they're quite uninspiring, very bland interior, a ''SuperMax'' type window in the seating area, which is next to useless, and the ES which is a eunuch atm. They are a bit buggy along with the ptu, but a decent multi-crew ship for a small group, and dirt cheap if you brought them Warbond, which many of us did.
Carrack is an old ship and definitely needs an update but this ship is new with the cargo update. Surely they would check how it feels to load full of cargo and buff out the kinks
So if you were forced to use the Zeus for cargo carrying, what do you think is the maximum load that you would be willing to spend time packing even if it takes multiple trips?
It's about as frustrating to load as any ship with an internal cargo area. Generally, I don't think we're typically filling a cargo area to the brim unless it is a situation like the vulture where we got to make use of that space to make the salvaging trips worth it. The C2 is probably the least frustrating cargo ship to run that has an internal bay since it opens from both ends and is extremely wide.
I do not see any frustration that ties to the ship. Seems more your chaotic way of loading up the ship, something to get used to with a new ship I presume. And the beam does not make it easy to move things around. But nice video to see the cargo.
made this much harder than it needed to be by buying the 24 scu containers. Just buy the 4 and 2 scu containers and the only complaint you’ll have is moving more boxes, but I would bet it’ll be faster than trying to Tetris around those 24 scu containers
One of the other Vloggers, Rays Guide, said the same thing. He said you can fill the bay with only 22 crates but it is much quicker to use 6x8scu, 6x4scu and 22x2scu.
I would never manually load a Zeus. Thee cargo gets put in and stacked nicely filling the grid if the station does it That said, i wish the cargo door was a different shape, so we can fit a Nursa through it
way I see it is it is a 64, maybe even 96 scu ship with everything else being a bonus. we always complain about ships not having a cargo grid where there should be one and now I see everyone complaining that there is one where it is slightly unconventional. it leaves it up to the player how much and where to load it
Gets more scu than the c1 but is much more time consuming to load. This is just “balance”. (C1 minimum full load is 6 boxes - vs 26 of the CL) Spirit will be the good cargo trade/hauler. While the clipper will excel at supply runs for outposts/ships
I gave up on my dream of being a space trucker. Then gave up on mining. Then gave up on salvage... Then master modes has me debating about giving up on bounty hunting. I'm losing interest more and more with every update because when things seem like they're going well, A bug of some sort destroys everything I accomplish.
do you greedy people not realize that completely filling every single spot on he cargo grid is OPTIONAL? people have been complaining for so long about wasted space in cargo holds that they actually made a ship with no wasted space and now people complain again? would you rather they made it like the C1 and just gave you enough space for 2 32scu boxes on the sides? would that make you happier?
Yup. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Sadly, about 95% of gamers literally can't control themselves enough to not do it. Same reason people act like they HAVE to buy the new concept ship.
it not the ship it is that you can not pick the type of boxes to use , i really dont get how hell a starter ship going do anything cargo related , same issue carrack has boxes should be pick by you for what scu boxes you want to use
i dont think it for heavy cargo, i think it more for small daily mission cargo runing. it about useing the right tool for the right job.. CL is not for Midmaxing gold runs.
I never saw this ship as a cargo ship. As long as I can put in a ground vehicle like a mole then Im cool otherwise its a waste like the 400i. I won't go into how pointless the 400i is now.
It's smaller than the C1 and holds twice the cargo. Perhaps, instead of broadcasting how awful it is, simply recognize that it's pro's far outweigh its cons. A bit of majoring in minors on this vid.
The Worst freight ship for manual loading/unloading (as 600i) Only auto loading to save your time, atherwise its better to take C1 *Will be funny if auto loading will be cost much higher then other ships )
The marketing team strikes again. CIG needs to restrain those clowns they are ruining the game. This could be very easily fixed by reducing the cargo grid. FFS you cant even access components with fully loaded cargo. But Nooo. we have to impress those buyers!
CIG said they got to remake the Freelancer because AI NPCs cant access components when it has cargo, yet they gone and made the same mistake with these, unbelievable.
First off, you're playing in the put, which of course it's going to have issues. So, no it's not going to be perfect, if you played long enough you should know that. They're gonna have to make adjustments, that's what the ptu is used for.
So you are saying it is a terrible cargo ship because you can't fit in 128scu conveniently. By that logic, the C1 is also a terrible cargo ship cause it's the same size and also can't fit in 128scu conveniently.
How so? The MAX has more space around the edges, and has a nearly full-width door. Are you referring to the small foreward cargo compartment, with its door that barely fits a box? After trying the Zeus, I'm thinking of sticking with the MAX.
@@bubbavox it's one of the first ships that ever came out. They didn't even know about physical cargo loading back then. I'm sure an update is coming for it

Carrack next to useless, always has been, and will stay a eunuch for a yr or two, its a mess, old and a relic.
So if you were forced to use the Zeus for cargo carrying, what do you think is the maximum load that you would be willing to spend time packing even if it takes multiple trips?
Hey! A real review, instead of one of the many "its great, buy one!" reviews.
Thanks.
Place smaller boxes first and snap 24 scu on top of them after.
I tried that couldn't get the 24 scu boxes in
It's about as frustrating to load as any ship with an internal cargo area.
Do you think you could get the 24scu in, if you laid the 4scu boxes on the grid first? Not sure if they'd fit in the door, but I don't own a Zeus...
I tried it, the 24 scu box gets stuck
I do not see any frustration that ties to the ship. Seems more your chaotic way of loading up the ship, something to get used to with a new ship I presume. And the beam does not make it easy to move things around. But nice video to see the cargo.
Ya I’m guessing that will happen when overpacking/buying difficult sizes of boxes 😅
My Freelancer Max is maybe not that outdated seeing this Rubik's cube puzzle with containers.
Freelance max is amazing still and I love that it can fit a ursa
made this much harder than it needed to be by buying the 24 scu containers. Just buy the 4 and 2 scu containers and the only complaint you’ll have is moving more boxes, but I would bet it’ll be faster than trying to Tetris around those 24 scu containers
One of the other Vloggers, Rays Guide, said the same thing. He said you can fill the bay with only 22 crates but it is much quicker to use 6x8scu, 6x4scu and 22x2scu.
if you store the ship you can AUTOSELL, but only the boxes on the grid
I'd say that cargo door is bigger than the C1, constantly knocking crates with that door.
Thank you for your hard effort! If i ever fly that ship the Max i will load will be 2 boxes 24 scu ;-D
Does anyone consider stacking and unstacking boxes as fun game play?
I would never manually load a Zeus. Thee cargo gets put in and stacked nicely filling the grid if the station does it
That said, i wish the cargo door was a different shape, so we can fit a Nursa through it
i thought the grid was (8x8, 8x4 and 2x16)?
way I see it is it is a 64, maybe even 96 scu ship with everything else being a bonus. we always complain about ships not having a cargo grid where there should be one and now I see everyone complaining that there is one where it is slightly unconventional. it leaves it up to the player how much and where to load it
Gets more scu than the c1 but is much more time consuming to load. This is just “balance”. (C1 minimum full load is 6 boxes - vs 26 of the CL)
Spirit will be the good cargo trade/hauler. While the clipper will excel at supply runs for outposts/ships
Well technically the C1 can just load 3x32scu and once the elevators are fixed that will be more practical.
Loading CM in a C2 is basically impossible on the top layer.
I gave up on my dream of being a space trucker. Then gave up on mining. Then gave up on salvage... Then master modes has me debating about giving up on bounty hunting.
I'm losing interest more and more with every update because when things seem like they're going well, A bug of some sort destroys everything I accomplish.
This is what happens when people show CIG that they're willing to fit thousands of SCU into ships by stuff it whereever it'll fit.
Beautiful ship for sure. But Ill keep my C1 & C2.
do you greedy people not realize that completely filling every single spot on he cargo grid is OPTIONAL? people have been complaining for so long about wasted space in cargo holds that they actually made a ship with no wasted space and now people complain again? would you rather they made it like the C1 and just gave you enough space for 2 32scu boxes on the sides? would that make you happier?
Yup. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Sadly, about 95% of gamers literally can't control themselves enough to not do it. Same reason people act like they HAVE to buy the new concept ship.
Yeah, I’m just going to stick with my Taurus!
Taurus is the best current cargo ship in the game, especially with an atls.
Still a very cool ship but yes that is a nightmare. What is the easiest mid size hauler to load cargo on?
Taurus wins big time. It's larger, but works much, much better.
it not the ship it is that you can not pick the type of boxes to use , i really dont get how hell a starter ship going do anything cargo related , same issue carrack has boxes should be pick by you for what scu boxes you want to use
i dont think it for heavy cargo, i think it more for small daily mission cargo runing. it about useing the right tool for the right job.. CL is not for Midmaxing gold runs.
New for 2025, Star Citizen is being rebranded to, Star Tedium.
Tip dont get 24 or 16 scu containers. 8 scu container max makes the job easier.
At that price\size point, you get sacrifices :)
CL stands for “Carry Less” 😂
There's always a bigger space Dorito.
the CL probably will go up to 170 Bucks, so better get a taurus tbh. The Zeus looks great but this Loading is just madness.
I wouldn't mind an auto stacking option.
The Worst freight ship for manual loading/unloading (as 600i)
Only auto loading to save your time, atherwise its better to take C1
*Will be funny if auto loading will be cost much higher then other ships )
this cargo loading in general looks super frustrating
Super tight Jenga loading mini game
The fanboys are going to be defensive lol
Thx for the headsup
Remember when they said they would make it realistic then roll it back to fun. CIG start rolling this sucks
i like how its a OP cargo for its size of ship but you gotta WORK for it. lol
I fully loaded in 5 minutes and was gone
You should make a video of that.
I'd to love to see this in action! Send the link here once you've recorded yourself doing it that quickly. :) o7
I played with this ship for about 10mins trying to load cargo and it sucked dick. Looking forward to see how bad the Starlancer MAX will be lol
as a feature they should play the Tetris music 😂
Bro not every damn ship NEEDS to fit your nursa damn😂 but it is a tight cargo for a dedicated medium cargo compared to c1 imo
Can't you autoload?
And they made the door too small for an Ursa. Not the ship for me.
Guess I'll just stick with my Raft. Loading it is dead simple click'n paste since 3.24. But no guns/ no speed and no cargo cover lmao.
First off, you're playing in the put, which of course it's going to have issues. So, no it's not going to be perfect, if you played long enough you should know that. They're gonna have to make adjustments, that's what the ptu is used for.
For me the zeus is not a cargo hauler at all even tho the varieant exists. its a good bounty hunter or civial luxury transport but cargo not.
So you are saying it is a terrible cargo ship because you can't fit in 128scu conveniently.
By that logic, the C1 is also a terrible cargo ship cause it's the same size and also can't fit in 128scu conveniently.
You havent tried to hand load a freelancer yet have you?
As annoying as the cl is, its way better than max
The max wasn't designed with the new cargo system in mind this one was and still problems
How so? The MAX has more space around the edges, and has a nearly full-width door. Are you referring to the small foreward cargo compartment, with its door that barely fits a box? After trying the Zeus, I'm thinking of sticking with the MAX.
@@bubbavox the roof is still an issue for the 1 scu high stupid stack on top of everything.
And yes the little front room as well.
@@bubbavox it's one of the first ships that ever came out. They didn't even know about physical cargo loading back then. I'm sure an update is coming for it
The Dorito Tax. Yes, the Zeus has a tight cargo space.
Try to think ahead, you will get better Atmospheric performance when we get control surfaces.
at this rate we wont see control surfaces till 2028
@@kaizer2k2 yes
This video convinced me that the Zeus CL is a scam.
Yeah, no thanks. I'm sticking to the C1
Have you tried loading a caterpillar? 😂
This ship just came out before that there was no real manuel cargo loading, the cat is old and needs an update for sure.
Cargo game is for people who enjoy... cargo stuff. Filling up the cargo bay is part of the thing. They have to improve the snapping mechanics a little, though.
This is just like IRL cargo management, I have no complaints except that they payout will need to reflect the time you put in.
It's like a 3 litter pop bottle... here's all this space but with a small opening wth... open that ass end up like the msr or freelancer maxx
I can’t believe CIG
what a nightmare ill be sticking to my maxx
Lo peor de esta nave es: La puerta es un asco y encima su brazo tractor no ayuda con cajas de 24, porque no puedes acercar la carga lo suficiente como para meterla por la minipuerta. Muy bonita....pero como nave de carga le doy un 6/10
Makes me not want to buy this… I’ll stick with my c1 and leave cargo off the grid.
Another $25 just get a Taurus 10x the ship.
Planned obsolescence
Idk man I think the carrack might be the worst rn 😂
For sure😆🤣but it's an older ship. They're supposed to know better by now
i feel like you are making it harder for you'r self
