    Have you played with the build modifier on a grease pencil object? It might be a quicker way to reveal line art

      Hi Michael thanks for the input Its great that you mention the build modifier. I have used it and you can totally use it to reveal strokes. Its slightly less flexible, as there is no way to do a true follow path for the hand to follow. but to its advantage you can do the sequential animation as well so that you don't have to animate each stroke. Using it as a texture image mask is also viable but it doesn't have the control of regular SVG path as it uses grease pencil materials. The speed of the operation is slightly faster as you say. All in all its good counter option.
