I have a course in linguistic discoursanalysis and this video helped. But, I have background in philosophy and still have difficulty with the philosophical implications of CDA. I have a grasp on what Foucault, Mouffe or Laclan are saying and what they mean with 'discourse'. Yet, most CDA scolars don't seem to strongly engage with these philosophers. So my question is whetger CDA is a practice rather than a theory? It just seems like a lot of CDA literature doesn't have a strong or any explicit philosophical assumptions about language, meaning, structure, subjectvity etc.

Hello!
Great video, very informative! i have a question about CDA.
Can I do a CDA but instead of qualitative interviews use a quantitative survey?
Discourse is about talk, so no. But maybe thematic analysis or content analysis can work. These methods would make your analysis qualitative.
❤
This is more of a CDA
Thanks for your feedback
