    sir i have a question..please reply.. here in 3G, the packet switching related components in core network, are these also working when we dont recharge for internet but only recharge for voice calling? and the upper portion of core network i.e. for circuit switching (though its not used anymore what i know) only works calling purpose? then why the (MGW, MSC server) have control plane and data plane differently?

    and sir one thing is missing ..like u told about EUTRAn but what changes come in node B from BSC. In case of RNC Ic interface between them means if a subscriber is of Vodafone he can call another Vodafone subscriber without the call being redirected to MSC ???

    Its wrong.. sorry but dont hv knowledge about it..
    How RNC can direct communicate with MSC. There should be MGW in between them. And you put MGW as a seprate node

      It is correct dear.MGW works on user plane.and place aLong with the MSC.without authentication and channel allocation,RNC cannot comMunicate with Mgw.both are placed in the same rack.this is the architecture.in real world things are little bit different

      Technical Guftgu Yes, authentication and allocation done at MSC end. But all there queries pass to MSC via MGW. RNC-MGW-MSC
