I like the fact that it has so much more than Push 3, things like chords which were left out by Ableton on Push 3 make it a definite buy buy buy for me. Aka is doing a good job at knowing what we want in our units.
It's like a watered down push with some really awesome features. I don't own a push so I was sold on this with the standalone external hardware sequencer
@EliasJackson almost traded my og curcuit for a launchpad mk3 but I'd have to drive and hour one way and I saw this thing pop up and was sold. Does the launchpad also have cv gate? I'm running some semi modular hardware so for the price point couldn't beat it. And I got it on a payment plan for 30 bucks a month 🤷🏻♂️
@karacoldmusic I almost pulled the trigger on one of those and don't know why I held off but I did and I sure am glad I did this thing looks stupid intuitive and an affordable "push" like ableton controller. It was the standalone sequencer that sold me.
HI . Great video . I have some questions to make. I have APC64 and Microfreak Arturia. I want to use APC64 in standalone mode with Microfreak. How do I have to connect the midi between them? And do I have to configure any parameters on APC?
Does anybody know how to control master volume on the APC64? There are eight touch faders and I can use the direction pad to move far right on my instruments until I am at the Master track. But let’s say someone uses 20 instruments and then has to scroll over far to get to that master track. What is a quick access way to adjust the Master volume?
Hi, I’ve already own the APC40 MK2. Does it match if I own the new APC64 with the APC40 MK2 in order to use the trigger and the pads for composing ? Thanks for reply 😉
How do the pads compare to the launchpad pro mk3? Everything looks the same button wise as the launchpad pro. There are of course the strips and the screen.
Not for me but its brilliant for somone just jumping in id buy thia if i didnt have a lau ch pad. Mk3 the old one with the knobs and crossfader its timeless ✨️
The onboard sequencer is way too basic IMHO. With all the connectivity and all the emphasis Akai has put promoting the standalone functionality, you would expect something more advanced. I hope they improve it fast enough, as it is now is useless for me.
Don't blame the tool, blame the musicians. If a house looks like other houses, you don't blame the hammer, you blame the architect. Musicianship has been lost amongst modern music, especially since so much of mainstream music is written to go "viral", which means they're intentionally creating the same thing as everybody else, just different enough to be "original"
I guess we know now why the Push3 release felt 'pushed'...

Thanks Roger for your feedback!
Looks like a smaller, more affordable Push! very cool!
Not sure why people are comparing this to the Push when its feature set is clearly meant to rival the Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3
It's like a watered down push with some really awesome features. I don't own a push so I was sold on this with the standalone external hardware sequencer
@@the_impossible_kid Launchpad has that feature too so it’s worth checking both out

Excellent production.
Seems like alot of fun! I just can't decide if I'd use this to replace my APC40MK2...
I was between the two myself and went with the 64
@@the_impossible_kid So I already got the MK2 and would just keep it but dunni if I'd use this more... I just might

Sweet Akai made a Push 2!
Thanks for the great review. So many pointless videos online. Can you do a vid on connecting analog synths to the controller and ableton?

Does it gonna come out a standalone version or something like a new Force?

can you use the cv function and have it connected to ableton at the same time?
Yes, APC64 can be used as an interface to control CV/Gate hardware from Ableton Live.

If budget isn't an issue... Push 3 vs APC64? Which one is superior?
Nice Video

Do you have a link?not aware of a lcuchpad with knobs and faders.
I still use my original APC40. Faders, 2x8 knobs, and a crossfader.
So you can you fully control Ableton Live with this controller? All features as well as messing with vsts and settings?
Macros don’t save unfortunately, so you got to do it again and again.
I wonder how well it would play with LpadPro3/XL etc?
Not for me but it looks like it'd be fun to use 💯
Great review! Is this compatible with Logic Pro AI?
APC64 is supported for use with Ableton Live and Ableton Live Lite.
@@AkaiProVideo Oh snap. I don’t know why Ali doesn’t just make class compliant midi controllers? 😂😂😂
is a button for instant midi recording (midi prehear Ableton)
Does the APC let you load sounds into Simpler?
What is the guitar plugin he’s using?
How do you chain sequences?
There's no Repeat button option?
Will this work easily with bitwig?
Is it compatible with the AKAI FORCE? to control the grid and rec, stop, mute, solo buttons and so?
This can used as a midi extension with Force or MPC
@@AkaiProVideo but will it recognize the grid from the Force instantly or will I have to program it?
@@AkaiProVideo if used as extension of the mpc it would be possible to see Clip launching screen on mpc?
Can’t buy until we get the isomorphic keyboard layout

Not bad

This is the same dude that thought Drum Monkey was good at $400.
i also run an annual community charity event (happening now btw!) but its cool that you remember a video from like 2 years ago ;)
Music is boring Especially with Equipment like this that's irrelevant in this day an age.
but I wonder if there are more experimental controllers on the market? I agree, everything ends up sounding the same..
