Kate if you're having trouble with your balance due to an inner ear problem look up the Epley manoeuvre. It is a reset of the fluid in your inner ear by moving your head through a series of sweeping motions. I had vertigo after a car crash and had vertigo and nausea for two months. I was referred to a specialist nurse at my local hospital who was an expert in this procedure. She did the head manoeuvre and instantly my vertigo and nausea was gone never to return. I appreciate you've had labyrinthitis but this may help if it reoccurs. Good to see you back out on a bike. Ride safe.
Hi Kate, I did a review on my channel of the 990 and then the 1390 and definitely the 990 is a great bike with useable power for the street. The 1390 is a better bike overall but you can’t use its power on the street and most owners never would take the bike to a track so for buying a bike that you will use to its full potential in real life the 990 would get my nod. The connectivity module being in add on is nasty. My damn Duke 390 already has one and it costs them minimal effort to make. A bike originally going for close to 15k should just have this.
Re your pricing insert, that to me sums up KTMs self inflicted issues, their current situation et al. No consumer confidence, erratic pricing policy and warranty issues does not bode well.

Yeah I love a Duke ( I have a 1290r) but the Honda Hornet is the massive elephant in the room here. As it will be on every other bike purchase this year!
Was going to say something along similar lines. At a whisper under £10,000 the Hornet is going to be a very big fly in a lot of the competition's ointment.
I think the KTM's look good and i'm all for Orange as well. Just sad that some have the problems you hear about. Then again, full transparency, you hardly can't proof/know how or why it happened if it was rider error, or an actual manufacturer error. I firmly believe that they have way less problems nowadays compared to the earlier models. But I never rode on or owned one. And people talk way more easy about the bad stuff on a bike then on the good stuff. So then again, you can't really go by hear say. Sorry to hear about your balance problem, and your world moving and turning. Hope there's a way to get rid of it. I enjoy you and Mike's videos, so i'm happy to watch anytime. How did you find it compared to the 765RS? Currently own a 2023 765 RS. I love it but I had a duke 890R before and that bike was the most fun I’d ever had
I rode one last week while my MT10 was being serviced. Good suspension, chassis, handling manners, a quality built bike but obviously a disappointment in the power. Fun giving it some extra beans but I'm obviously used to four cylinder torque. There are plenty of twins and triples to give this bike a run for it's money for less cash outlay.
Awesome video! I love Rivington. It's so beautiful there. The roads are amazing. I love this bike too. The headlight is a huge improvement. Did you notice any engine heat? Beautiful bike for sure. I will give the 990 a chance this summer. Most likely I'll end up keeping my 890R. I like the skinny supermoto like feeling. I already had a 990 but that was the Superduke in 2007 :) That was a raw bike.
When I look at some of the scenery I can't help thinking that all you want for driving there is a Moto Guzzi with loads of not present power, but with calming qualities that would repair any nervous ear.
I’ve been to look at this bike this weekend and really like it, with all I want added to it the price comes to around 12.5k but the dealer has a 1290 evo , 23 plate with just 1400 miles on it with tech pack and Leo Vince exhaust for the same price. Not sure what to go for as I only have a 29” inside leg and feel the 990 would be easier! As a fellow/lady short arse what would be your choice?
If KTM's lineup weren't riddled with reliability issues and KTM didn't go bankrupt, I would consider owning one but KTM doesn't have a good reputation these days. I am surprised reviewers never mention these things.
That's never been my personal experience of KTM when I owned one. But owners are free to sound off in my comments without censorship so if anyone experienced any grumbles personally, they're invited to comment
@@UsernameKate That's good. I have a friend that rides in my riding group and has a KTM 790 Duke. Had it for less than a year and the camshaft failed on it. He was dead in the water that day and had to get it toed. When looking it up, this is a very common failure on these bikes. Which is why I have steered clear from them. I bought a Honda CB1000R Black Edition instead and have never looked back. Your review of it was one of the many reasons why I bought it! So, thank you for the always awesome content, regardless of the KTM issues :)

My favite Duke, 890 R is to unrifined for riding at 40mph, Duke 790 was lame (thought it was a 37kW), but the Duke 990 is one off my favorites (MT09 isn't as goodlooking and CB750 Hornet not as quick)
As much as i love KTM's, If money was no problem I'd go for the 1390 Superduke you can't beat that low down torque of the V-twin. But with the camshaft problems on the 890/990 and the warenty problems I'd have to pass on it.
That orange piece on the bike just kills it for me! It's looks like a person driving a broke ass car. Got into an accident and damage one of his door and found a red door to replace it with. Car is black. Designer had to put that orange piece to show that it's a KTM?

Well, Yes and no. For common sense riding, of course it makes more sense with a 990 over a 1390. For that matter, it makes more sense with a 690 over a 990. But, motorcycling isn't Really about making sense now, is it? 😈 ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼
There are two major issues with KTM currently. oil-starvation poor design on camrollers for 600 - 900 CC engines. Only at high revs is the oil-pressure enough to lubricate the cams properly. Multiple channels on YT has proof of this. Second part is KTM is bankrupt. Parent company spent all their money.Gasgas,Husky,MVAgusta,CFMoto etc. KTM have admitted to engine design flaws of oilflow. But current engine re-designs, and engine recalls does not address the root cause with low oil pressure and poor oil designed oil channels. And there are little economic muscle to fix the engine issue when whole company is under reconstruction and debt to their banks still not been paid fully.
Great vid Kate - looks like a nice bit of kit, but with KTM's financial troubles, and the Honda Hornet SP (the SP!) undercutting this even after the £2k price cut, this might struggle to sell. I think it it wasn't for the Hornet, we'd all be saying this was an absolute bargain, but I think Honda have really upset a lot of the naked market with their pricing and spec.
Haven't KTM got thousands of unsold bikes so 2 grand seems pretty poor to me and even at that price the new Honda just blows the KTM away. With all their current troubles personally i wouldn't touch KTM with a barge pole.
No way KTM should fleece the buyer for cruise and quick shifter, if they are going to turn it around that has to be in the base price, at that point they might have my attention.

I had my first ever vertigo problem thanks to covid. Was really severe and I never fully recovered. Illness started with bad sore throat a few days of bronchitis like morning lung then just dragged on like a mild cold I couldn't shake for 3 weeks. Next minute it was almost like having a dizzy spell which spun out of control like I have having a seizure. Could replicate it by just looking up for a second or two or by laying on my back. For 6-12 months I struggled with transition to laying down even on my stomach I'd have to partially sit up if I felt the spins start before trying again. I later read where some people had it and went to hospital and it turns out they'd had a stroke which makes a lot of sense in hindsight. Super nasty virus it is.
So close to 100k.......bet you're looking forward to that milestone. Deserved, keep up the good work.

The hornet is 3 grand more expensive than the 990r in my country. At that price I definitely choose the KTM.

As a Super Duke owner I can't think of a single thing why I would downgrade to the 990.

Duke 990 feels bigger and not as nimble as Duke 890✊🔥but more grunt then 890..

In a hypothetical world where I have some money 😂 I’d buy one as a fun second bike with a big discount and take the risk .
The problems with this bike for me are will KTM go bust and is the engine made out of chocolate 🍫
Other than that it looks like fun x
No way KTM should fleece the buyer for cruise and quick shifter, if they are going to turn it around that has to be in the base price, at that point they might have my attention.
nice bike BUT... Honda cb1000 hornet SP for £9999 trumps everything else out there... not even close.
Nice video Kate. KTM and their 'turning stuff off after 6 months' just dosen't sit well with me.

KTM is in financial ruin and sinking fast with massive amounts of debt. Possibly, CF MOTO will purchase the brand , but that is not guaranteed !!!!

I know hundreds that ride bikes through social media. There are lots of females riding bikes nowadays. And nice!
I had my first ever vertigo problem thanks to covid. Was really severe and I never fully recovered. Illness started with bad sore throat a few days of bronchitis like morning lung then just dragged on like a mild cold I couldn't shake for 3 weeks. Next minute it was almost like having a dizzy spell which spun out of control like I have having a seizure. Could replicate it by just looking up for a second or two or by laying on my back. For 6-12 months I struggled with transition to laying down even on my stomach I'd have to partially sit up if I felt the spins start before trying again. I later read where some people had it and went to hospital and it turns out they'd had a stroke which makes a lot of sense in hindsight. Super nasty virus it is.
Yes, mine started after a horrible bout of covid. I feel we are similar with it and I give you my deepest sympathy because it's bloody life changing!
