Stephenson's peak would've been a strong 2nd option, they signed him on the Hornets thinking he could be that guy, but things didn't materialize. Still good 3rd/fourth option. Another NY prodigy that was solid in the league, but didn't necessarily fulfill the prophecy of being "Born Ready."

in my 30 years ive noticed that people that lift weights usually arent that athletic and have a lot of injuries and low mobility and usually have the same look and shape to them. You can tell when someone is big and strong because they play a sport a lot or do push ups and move their actual entire body weight alot doing real movements in a sport like basketball. Knowing how to move your own weight makes way stronger people in terms of being a capable athlete over lifting weights in my experience.
You're partially right. I could explain better in a whole conversation, but basically what you're observing is gym bro guys who make lifting weights and aesthetics a priority. Not movement or athleticism or functional weight lifting. Its not the weights themselves that are the problem. It's the application of them. Remember, Steph Curry lifts weights. But strategically. He deadlifts 400 lbs. I could put someone on a training plan with or without weights based on different goals. Upper body is pretty easy without weights. There is so much you can do. So much variety and ways to make those exercises harder. Bodyweight for lower body isn't as easy. But still you can get into insane shape without lifting much too. But again, it's not weightlifting that makes "weightlifters" injury prone or stiff and unathletic. It's the type of weightlifting most of those guys do.
Lance was 1 of the best high school players in the country. He definitely didn't think he was a role player 😂
