haha here for this comment, literally always my exact thought when I watch these. The Knobs videos were such a breath of fresh air, I think the baton might've been passed to @TheUnperson
Bless you, Ali. What a great video. I can always count on you for new inspiration with old modules. It's such a wonderful gift you have and I'm so stoked that you share it. I can watch your videos all night, and I have. Definitely jonesin' for your OP1 skills. After all, I have one because of you.
Mad keen to see what you can do with an Afterneath. Sounds 'not of this dimension' with a Peaks pinged rez'd up 2600 filter in it's send/return path... From gritty to glassy to glottal, then it's a playable bass sound out of nowhere? Difficult to explain, easy to get amazing results from. Top quality vid - again!!
I actually don't have too many delay pedals currently but in the past I've very much liked the BOSS DD pedals, the line 6 DL4, Electro Harmonix Memory Man, anything digital from the 80's is fun too!
Delays, and other effect modules, are so expensive so I keep those in-the-box for now but nothing beats CV controlled effects in the rack. Beautiful sounds, and your vocals are always a boonus on top.
Hi Ally, Is it OK to use your setup layout as one of my 'starterkit' videos? I love the fact that your layout only goes through minor changes and always works/delivers. I am not sure if you ever covered why that is. I think it's a winning combo of the 'right' modules, a midi/cv controller and something external (teenage engineering) that compensates for the all limitations that remain. I guess a lot of people just love your work without knowing why it works so well. If you'd like to do something like this one day, I'll keep off, otherwise I'd love to share my views on it.
Hey there - absolutely that's okay! Personally I seem to work better with limitations and I get a bit overwhelmed with bigger systems and too many options. I prefer to learn a small batch of modules really well and get every last drop out of them lol. Having the external gear definitely helps to very easily put down drums and accompaniment, etc. I look forward to seeing your perspective on the subject! Cheers!
I see you've surprisingly stuck with that modest Z5000 along with all that endgame stuff you cycle through, it must be pretty damn solid for bread & butter FX (and more?) - but I was wondering if you had to pick Z5K or ModFX or Echoez, which would you choose for lofi atmospheric beats, sample processing & ambient chordy stuff? I do already have an FX Aid (love it), Monsoon (underutilized) & a Crush Delay (probably selling for an AFA Coma Reactor 1 or 2), and a couple euro→line FX loop units for external FX/processing. BUT, fiending for more stereo "warming" FX like Phasers & Chorus, saturated modulation. Thanks as always, A! 🪢
@@TheUnperson I could resist that one 🤣 Something you might like to try is putting the data bender in the send & return loop as well as the filter. And of course you can make similar feedback loops with any of them by splitting the output, running through whatever, and mixing back into the input.
@@boydw1 This (!) - you don't need that special module with the send/return at all; if the delay goes 100% wet, and you have a mixer, then you can wire up the feedback path manually, and put any modules you like in the feedback path that way, I do this with my pico dsp all the time. I'm quite sure @TheUnperson is aware of this. I do understand that this is a bit convoluted to try and document in this format. It's quite a few cables, and different from anything else I've seen on this channel, but it might be interesting to try (I'd certainly watch such a video). Stay rad, this channel is good and I hope it continues to grow.

Your comment on guitar players pedal reviewing is accurate and too funny hahah
Haha why are they so boring?? XD
@@TheUnperson Why don't they hire someone to show the full capabilities of the product?! They'd sell alot more pedals appealing to a broader audience.
@@TheUnperson Try this danish guy, The Pedal Zone, he knows what he is talking about, and playing
Here’s my clean tone…😂

Oh, man, the demo at around 16:45 is a beautiful song right there
Awesome video. Even when I don't have the same modules as you, I always find your videos inspiring. And the lighting in your videos is always great.
Awesome demos, need to sample some of these delays more!
Cheers! Yea I love sampling delays to make pads :)

@18:50 all day
Awesome and inspiring as always dude!
Cheers man! :)
Super useful tips and ideas again and awesome sounds 😎
Cheers man! :)
Wow! What an amazing tutorial! Loads of great ideas! Thank you so much!
Thanks glad you liked it!!
Really great stuff as always Ali. 👍
Thanks man! :)
Wow, playing beads like that. It not only sounded fantastic, but I did not know you could do that.

Some top ideas in here - inspiring!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
hi man, you've made a trully great exploration! Now Im dying to hear which are some of your favorite delay pedals :)

5:41 “Snake Plisskin! I thought you were dead?”
Lovely patches. Thanks!
Cheers ta!
Great Video! 🎉
Awesome, Ally!

omg you make me miss my beads with the first patch!
Fantastic video as always dude, if I could only have 1 fx I would be a delay, way too much cool stuff you can do with them
I love the Nautilus. It's so versatile that I almost feel bad using it as a more "standard" delay most of the time.
If you put those all in series, does your song come out the next day?

man what the hell was that Tom Waits impression 2:41 caught me off guard
Don’t know why I did that lol
What wood do you have on your table? Is it real wood ?
Have you tried the Intellijel Rainmaker? Just curious what your thoughts are.
What preset on the mfx for the drums and synth? Thanks great vid.
Beads plus KO133 beat equals Enigma 😊 classic
This video has been a long time coming, due to many delays...
Haha oh dear… thanks for the feedback :P

my fav delay is the Verbos Multi-Delay Processor
Hey there, what camera / lens do you use for your overhead setup? Thanks :)
It’s a canon m50 with the stock lens :)
@@TheUnperson Great thanks!
Also, do yourself a favor and get your hands on Sealegs, very deep! No menu diving either
That first demo sounds like it's straight out of Silent Hill 2's soundtrack (particularly the 'Heaven's Night' track)
I’ll check it out! :)
In Eurorack we want 💯 wet effects!
Beyodeeful
😂 that impression of an American guitar-tuber!!! 🤣
Haha I forgot about that! 😂
Intellijel Sealegs? Check out Mylar Melodies' demo of it.
It’s definitely on my wish list ~ seems like the perfect delay!
Blues guitar guy voice 😂
Ally... tea or coffee? That looks like weak decaf tea from Aldi!
I am also so tired of cheesy blues solos 🤦♂🙃🤣
