Fun fact: Diagon Alley, though it is set in London, is based on the shambles, which is an old fashioned alley/road in York. If you look up photos online, you will see the resemblance. In the alley, there are three Harry Potter merchandise shops, one with a Borgin & Burkes theme.
Until you go up to Edinburgh and half the people tell you it’s based on Cockburn St (where they filmed part of Avengers Infinity War) and the other half say it’s Victoria St. All three claim to have inspired it. And while I love York, I think Edinburgh has more of a Harry Potter vibe.
What I'd like to see next year is do the leaky cauldron then another year do the shops on the otherside of diagon alley and to finish it off do Gringotts in the middle

Amazing. I think the door on top of the Quidditch Supply Shop is for the customers to go out and test fly their brooms!

For there is only one thing to criticize. For me the diagon alley should not include scenes from all the film. I personally think that the Weasley shop should not be included because it opens in the sixth film and all the other scenes are from the first two or three films. Same think also with the letters of the daily prophet with "the boy who live".
Would probably have to buy this set next year. xD Lego is really slaughtering our wallets with sets such as these.
Just bought the 21322 about a week ago, haven't even gotten the Astronomy Tower and the other harry potter sets. Not forgetting the awesome AT-AT plus the upcoming Bespin Duel which is just impossible to not get!

If you haven’t watched HP movies or read the books, Lucious Malfoy had more of the expression the figure does. He’s not really happy it’s just a normal face. But if I were to change the face up, I would give him an angry face for his second expression.

Love the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes building and Olivander's (of course :D). Would be fab if they released an expansion into Nocturn alley (just thinking about the contrasting darkness compared to the brightness of Diagon Alley!
This is annoying. I have no interest whatsoever in Harry Potter (I’ve seen the films and was largely indifferent) but I want this set. Argh. I guess I’m gonna get it.

I love how LEGO Harry Potter has more base type sets. The thing that does annoy me about LEGO Star Wars is we mostly get ships and vehicles and I wish we got more base type sets

It's both a vehicle and a playset.
Jakob Smith wish they would have found a way to just add this small minifig size module inside the UCS Star Destroyer. It would have made sense size wise but would have been cool to see
Facts
Truth, I tend to get Batman playsets because they are both cheaper and more fun to play with. My sons prefer to play in playsets with minifigs, but do love to run around destroying things with a ship in hand. I get the sense that the Batman designers have kids whereas the other theme designers do not.

I don’t think it’ll be super expensive, but I believe it’ll fit the scale of these shops. The reason it wasn’t included in this set was because gringotts was at the end of the alley, so it would look weird.

Pig Y Bakon oh I thought it was just fairly obvious. I don’t know if LEGO actually said anything like this, I just think it’d make sense, seeing as this set is striving for accuracy to the Universal Diagonal Alley, they wouldn’t put Gringotts in.
I love The dusted up Harry fig with his glasses broken when he uses the floo powder incorrectly in Chamber of Secrets.

It doesn’t really make sense chronologically though, since Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes exists here- 3 years after the events in Chamber of Secrets.

Are they going to have the other half of diagon alley? This set feels incomplete without Gringotts, magical menageries, leaky cauldron, the robe store and borgin and burkes etc. Hopefully, they do a part 2 of this set and add the other buildings.
Also if they make hogsmeade in the future, that would be cool.

The 2011 set already has all the other buildings, really if you think about it, LEGO did it deliberately so you could combine the two.

Well, I'm all for more. But, Gringotts is on Horizont Alley at the end and The Leaky Cauldron more-or-less on the other end. Borgin and Burkes is on Knockturn Alley.
Still, this set, however great it surely is, has the various stores quite jumbled around, so as long as we get more, who cares?

The only thing I don't like is how boxy the pink part of the building is, it just doesn't fit in with everything else.
Otherwise, I love it.

I really wish the bonus display with Harry and Hagrid would have been the brick wall entrance into Diagon Alley, since that's when Hagrid actually says that quote.

I love the bonus minifigure they threw in - it really makes me love LEGO as a company even more! They didn't advertise it or anything, they just included it as a special treat for us 🤩❤

I really hope what lego does is get these big 400 dollar sets and get smaller sets that we can add to them. That seems like an expensive, though, interesting way forward.
Yeah for that price i want full buildings not just half they could at least put just a flat back on them that opens
Do remember that it is not supposed to be a modular building and that it’s supposed to be in scale and style of the rest of the theme
This is 7 of the 33 buildings of Diagon Alley. At this price, the full alley would be 25k bricks and about $1900.

Great review! I just finished putting the set together today - took me a whole week! What I really like best about this set is how much detail from the movies that the Lego designers put into it. It was so much fun to see things like Lockhart's book "Magical Me", the Weasleys' fireworks sets, all the wand boxes with different wands in Ollivander's (I think there are 10 of them!) I'm hoping that Lego will release Gringott's, The Leaky Cauldron, and Knockturn Alley sets also. It would be *very* cool if a Leaky Cauldron set would connect to the modular city building sets in front and Harry Potter sets in the back so you could slip it inside a Lego London! :-)

This set is gorgeous. I saw the leak of that secret HP figure, so I was confused when it wasn’t on the box. I now get it though. I’m broke at the moment - but I do plan on getting this soon.

Fred's and George's faces came in the CMF first and Molly's head was exclusive to the UCS hogwarts before the burrow came out.

It’s not about being lazy, it’s about budget. Each theme has a certain budget that must go to all the sets that are released in a wave

As much as I like UCS sets, it does bother me that it's one big set. I would rather collect the sets gradually over a time period spreading the cost out similar to waht they are doing with Hogwarts instead of spending alit of money in one go.

While Gringotts is a clearly a point for consideration, I really hope we get a Leakey Cauldron in the next year. It's about as iconic as any other shop in Diagon Alley

It's really wild seeing pretty accurate Lego renditions of buildings that I've actually been in (save for the Daily Prophet closet).

Ahhhhh the Flourish and Blotts in this set does a book shop better than the Modular book shop.
Great review, really showed this well! I wasn’t liking it much from the pictures beforehand but seeing it here has changed my mine, it definitely seems like a pretty sweet set.
I think the "heart fountain" is the display of love potions that Ginny looks at in the sixth movie and that desk in the book shop is where Gilderoy Lockheart signs his books for people in the second movie
