This engine doesn't need to roar (if you do any type of muffler work it will sound like a psycho demon) but it just sounds so nice and musical almost and then the grunts and growls make it even better.

This car is targeted at +45 years old high status people. That's why it sounds how it sounds. Remove the resonator and this thing will blow off the streets with its noise...

Pretty much spot on what anyone purchasing the car would expect. The engine & exhaust sound is suitably dampened for the target market. If you want loud & brash then there is the Mercedes AMG or straight pipe the BMW.

Compare the sound of biturbo 4.0 Ferrari 488 and Lamborghini Huracan with 5.2 atmospheric engine. Until its atmospheric - larger size and more cylinders is good, otherwise - doesn't matter, just to have enough power and torque.
Yeah, just because of badge. But I'm sure that is the last generation of 7, A8 and S class that will have V12.
It's very simple - it's a luxury limousine, not a supercar.

Kaisuke971 I expected such an answer. By the word "average" I meant that the M760Li has an "average" acceleration time for the segment it is part of!
Compare it with its competitor, such as either the Panamera Turbo or the Audi S8 Plus or the new S63 to get an idea. All of them are equipped with a smaller engine but still got same/better performances!
But geniuses at BMW used a V12 engine to get same performances of a V8 engine, no engine sound, but with higher fuel consumptions and higher running expenses.
This car doesn't compete with the Panamera Turbo or the S8 Plus, those are short wheelbase V8 models and this is a long wheelbase V12 car. it's an S65 rival, and it's faster. There is the Alpina B7 for the customers seeking for a V8.
Now if you don't get why people would take a V12 over a V8 there is no point explaining it to you.

Wow. Wtf happened here. Exhaust sounds like someone clearing their throats over some boiling water...color is not the best choice, maybe white, navy blue, black or grey. Not impressed.
