Cool finds. Can't believe you're not getting hammered by deer flies and mosquitoes. You must be a fair ways south eh. Lotsa Luck.

Great to see you! I think it’s been a while! Wow, what an awesome spot to dig! Some really old stuff there seeing as you found part of a pontiled bottle! Some really nice bottles! Love the design on the sarsaparilla one! Almost shaped like the top of a brick on the one side. The amber pumpkinseed is really quite something! Love all the little incidentals like stoppers, buttons, lids, etc.! Is the one lid amber or stoneware? Kind of shaped like a Beaver or Lightning jar lid. Love the Hamilton ‘sweetheart crown’ lid! The huge lock was quite a cool
    find! ATB and happy hunting!

Thanks! that one lid is amber. It sucks because those amber coloured beaver jars sell for around 3K so I'm hoping to find the mason jar it goes with lol. It's hard to find open pontil dumps in Ontario but ita amazing when you do! Thanks for watching. ATB and HH!

I wonder how much you could sell the lid for if someone needs one for their amber jar? Have only ever found the bottom part of a pontil bottle at a rest stop I was detecting that had been a farmstead prior to that. I saw your comment on the cap badge video but looks like YT put it into purgatory for some reason. I’ll see if I’m able to retrieve it and respond.

@@kepvalley It's hard to say because peoples prices for the amber lids are all over the place. Canadian mason jar price guide books are sometimes hard to find but i'd love to find one. You should probe the ground in the area where you found an open pontil. Chances are there could be a honey hole of a dump very close

That would be cool but unfortunately it’s a park-like highway rest stop site. The two-lane highway was rerouted in the 40’s and I think it went right over the home site. Part of the old alignment is the driveway in it and there are a few rows of very old trees there that are remnants of the farmstead. It’s what I call the ‘Dragon Slayer Rest Stop Site’ as my very first colonial, an 1854 Bank of UC in immaculate condition came out of there. I have a fair number of vids from there and it’s been a great place to hunt with two different eras of stuff to find. Lots of square nails too! Unfortunately your comments on my videos got blocked again. YT flags “HH” because apparently they take it as a salute to a past dictator. In quotes, this message should be ok. I used to have this happen to me so I only spell out ‘happy hunting’ now. Another YT’er did a video pointing this out last year some time.

Forgot to mention to you about the jars. If you haven’t heard about this, here’s a link.
      redbookjars.com.
I have the #9 version from early 2000’s but it has EVERYTHING in it, including Canadian jars. On some, it mentions % of the listed value that the lid makes up.

@@loopyu2y Keep doing research in the area you're in and you'll find great stuff! Usually flat buttons are rarely found in parks but more in area's were houses stood in the early to mid 1800s. If you get permissions at old houses chances are you'll find lots of them. Keep detecting and let me know when you find great things!
