- These are the highlights from a 3-day backpacking adventure that Meredith of Blaze Adventure Tours and I took along the Appalachian Trail in February 2024. We hiked a route in Virginia that included Dragon's Tooth, McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, Hay Rock and more.

dragons tooth is crazy with a pack on... i remember there being a rebar ladder on the south side. I love that pickle branch shelter and cove mountain in general. That area is just north of the Sarver shelter I mentioned in a previous comment. Looks like maybe you started just north of it, but I'll be interested to see if you made it there this trip!
Well I don't want to spoil too much but don't get your hopes too high on seeing Sarver Shelter. Plenty of other cool things to see in this area though!
