Razer employee here, I wrote the spec for this product. SATA has a power limit of 54W (4.5A x 12V) max. This controller handles 60W - even if we artificially limited it to 54W, that's still at the very limit of what SATA can deliver with no headroom. Molex can typically handle 13A x 12V = 156W.
Ayush,I use this controller for my 73 lights LED strip,I found the actual LED light frame is half of monitor display,It seems to be skipping frames,is this normal or what am i doing wrong? But i don't see the problem in some review, doubtful of that, all performance not smooth and soft than asus aura IMO
potential consumer here.... why is it that i cant buy the RGB controller for the RGB light strip chroma set.. but when researching that controller i find this one?... can this one be used externally with just strips?..

With that power headroom, could this be used to control large ARGB strips of Amazon, Thought this could be an alternative to due custom lighting solutions outside the Case.
Actually, I think the main Issue is, each Port of the Controller is limited by 80 LEDs and 240 in sum. The second Issue is, that, when I do remember correctly, each Lian Li fan has 40 LEDs, so three of them chained makes 120 LED for each Port, so it might or should not work as preferred.
Little late to the party, but FYI - ASRock now makes a couple of Razer Edition motherboards that have their onboard lighting control via Chroma (the headers and the lights on the boards themselves). I've got a custom loop with ARGB in the CPU, GPU and distro blocks, plus some ARGB fans, and absolutely everything in the PC is controlled via Chroma now. The dream of actually having only one piece of software to control all your lighting is finally a reality. It only took, what, most of a decade?
You need to take those 2 fan chains off a splitter and put them into their own ports. Then you can organize them in the software to mimic your actual setup. Then you can have waves of light go at angles or up and down entirely. Once it knows where they are and the orientation, Your global effects will work like a a crazy corsair setup without having to spend a grand on fans, LED strips, and controllers.
Is it just me that noticed that the fans are perfect for that case on his PC? Because they have the rgb on the sides of the fans, it lights up through the vents on the side!

If they did Molex power connector, they probably did it for a reason! And before blame anyone for "stupid decision" - Google it! You can draw 4.5A from SATA power connector for 5 volts line. Molex can provide 11 Amps. Razer supports 240 LED total. Each LED can draw approximately 50 mA when it is set to full brightness. So, if you turn to white all LEDs, then you need: 240 * 0.05A = 12A! SATA power connector will just melt in this case!
My guess towards why they chose molex instead of SATA is the fact that most new devices are SATA, and pigtails can be somewhat limited on your cables. With molex, since it's no longer being used nearly as much, it allows you to still install the device. I have this, and my packaging was completely different from yours. Also, concerning it's ability to be mounted SSD style. Be advised that the unit is thicker, and may not allow you to close your cable side panel. Mine is currently sitting on the PSU shroud. If you have a Cooler Master Master Box MB530p you'll have to find a different mounting option like I did. Overall it's a great device (despite my first one being defective), and I absolutely love it!
A lot of people ask questions about corsair fans, and the answer is, of course not. corsair's ARGB interface is 4pin, not like 12V RGB, but corsair's customized 4pin interface. Can this product work with Corsair fans? I would love to replace the shitty Commander Pro.. I am haunted by the randoms disconnect/reconnect even with an internal usb hub. So if I can replace the commander pro, I'm all in!
@TechBlock Mine dont work. When connecting to the motherboard x470 (which you had last time) it would see the box but I can't get to the lighting effects as it says I need to make sure to plug in the dc as well as the usb. I have contact Razer about this and they have tried a few things and I even had to return for another unit which still was doing the same thing. I am guessing its the motherboard issue?

I want to install the razer rgb controller but do I need then a corsair Commander Pro or a fan hub like the smaller one or idk can someone please help me😂🥺

How did you plug your Uni fans into the razer chroms addressable rgb controller? The Uni fans are 4 pin and the razer controller uses 3 pin. Did you just plug in the 3pin cable that came off the lian li controller into the razer controller?
Hi i have a x570 razer edition motherboard with chroma argb integrated. is there a way to sync my mobo with my case fans (Lian Li lancool mesh 2 rgb)???
Thanks for showing off the product! I wish MSI's sync to synapse was addressable RGB and not laggy af for the GPU and ram. Maybe razer can solve this problem in the future
I have a msi b550 mortar wifi motherboard and when my argb fans are connected to the razer controller, the rgbs are lagging but the it works fine when connected to motherboard. Any suggestions?? Btw I'm using a molex to sata converter, maybe that's why.

Would you choose this hub over the nzxt one? I'm running nzxt argb fans and argb strips inside a razer case
I used to use an NZXT hub back in the day. Tbh I had a really great experience with it and their ARGB LED strips! Maybe I'll go back to NZXT one day, I do want to try out their Z73 Liquid Cooler
@@TechBlock thanks for the reply
On the ASUS CROSSHAIR HERO X470?
Ey I have a small problem cause I'm about to build my first gaming pc and I'm gonna use like 6 corsair ll120mm fans and I'm not sure what I need. I want to install the razer rgb controller but do I need then a corsair Commander Pro or a fan hub like the smaller one or idk can someone please help me😂🥺
Its possible to use 2 of this hub..one for the light of the desk and the other to make an ambilight of the monitor using the ambience awarness? Thanks; nice video
have fun trying to unplug those fans from that thing lol i smashed 1 in to see how good it works before i hook 5 more up make sure you got it how you want before u jam them in lol
can you use two RGBs ?
How did you plug your Uni fans into the razer chroms addressable rgb controller? The Uni fans are 4 pin and the razer controller uses 3 pin. Did you just plug in the 3pin cable that came off the lian li controller into the razer controller?
Rip fans
The LIAN LI UNI FAN hub uses a standard 3-pin 5V ARGB cable
Hi i have a x570 razer edition motherboard with chroma argb integrated. is there a way to sync my mobo with my case fans (Lian Li lancool mesh 2 rgb)???
What is the best watercolling?
Thanks for showing off the product! I wish MSI's sync to synapse was addressable RGB and not laggy af for the GPU and ram. Maybe razer can solve this problem in the future
I think MSI needs to solve this problem
@@TechBlock MSI needs to solve many problems 💀
The back of that case caused more damage to my mind than the strobing lights.
you have to make sure fan one is in the 1 port then two so on and so forth thats why it thinks fan 3 and fan 5 are the same
How did you sync your strimmers?
I have a msi b550 mortar wifi motherboard and when my argb fans are connected to the razer controller, the rgbs are lagging but the it works fine when connected to motherboard. Any suggestions?? Btw I'm using a molex to sata converter, maybe that's why.
