Razer employee here, I wrote the spec for this product. SATA has a power limit of 54W (4.5A x 12V) max. This controller handles 60W - even if we artificially limited it to 54W, that's still at the very limit of what SATA can deliver with no headroom. Molex can typically handle 13A x 12V = 156W.
Ayush,I use this controller for my 73 lights LED strip,I found the actual LED light frame is half of monitor display,It seems to be skipping frames,is this normal or what am i doing wrong?But i don't see the problem in some review,doubtful of that,all performance not smooth and soft than asus aura IMO

Is it just me that noticed that the fans are perfect for that case on his PC? Because they have the rgb on the sides of the fans, it lights up through the vents on the side!
My guess towards why they chose molex instead of SATA is the fact that most new devices are SATA, and pigtails can be somewhat limited on your cables. With molex, since it's no longer being used nearly as much, it allows you to still install the device. I have this, and my packaging was completely different from yours. Also, concerning it's ability to be mounted SSD style. Be advised that the unit is thicker, and may not allow you to close your cable side panel. Mine is currently sitting on the PSU shroud. If you have a Cooler Master Master Box MB530p you'll have to find a different mounting option like I did. Overall it's a great device (despite my first one being defective), and I absolutely love it!

Mine must be broken. Got it brand new and it'll show up (when no RGB components are connected). However, when I even have one port plugged in, nothing at all. it just shows on device manager as 'Unknown USB Device - Device Descriptor Request Failed'. All I did was plug in THEIR fans. Razer's falling off to me at this point.

I really wish that things such as RAM, Motherboards, M.2 Drives and Graphics Cards could be detected and controllable by Razer without needing any MSI or Asus software. It can get really annoying sometimes. For example my XPG SSD never syncs up probably I'm forced to use Dragon Center, XPG RGB and Synapse 3 to have everything working. It's a real Pain. And the Dragon Center syncing problem that happened to TechBlock also happens to me 75% of the time. Again, it's a real pain xD
Yeah, you saw what I had to go through in this video with Dragon Center's "Game Sync" :D As for the XPG SSD, it syncs with Razer sometimes, but not always which is strange.
Thanks for showing off the product! I wish MSI's sync to synapse was addressable RGB and not laggy af for the GPU and ram. Maybe razer can solve this problem in the future
N one can't use data because it is only maxed at 30 watts but molex is 54 watts that is why you can't power thing like that orpcie risers for mining and the Rgb controller has to power all the things plugged in But no hat I love your vids just trying to kindly help out
Decided to get this to keep stuff simple. With that in mind I had to pay extra for gskill ram instead trying to get Corsair to sync from icue go Asus aura to synapse.
I'm searching everywhere, but cannot find the answer to my question. Does razer hardware(cpu cooling, fans, etc) require the use of the RGB hub in order to control the RGBs in them, or can you leave it out and control the RGBs of razer hardware without it?
I dont think they would require this RGB hub, as far as i'm aware they use the standard 3-pin 5V ARGB connectors. You might want to consider picking up either the Razer RGB hub or something similar if you have many 3-pin 5V ARGB devices!

know this has been around for a long time, but i haven't bought it because i have a huge doubt that even razer support hasnt answered yet..... Razer synapse has that "ambient awareness" feature that captures zones of your screen and replicates the colours as close as possible into the rgb strips, keyboard, fans, whatever it associates with that function. My doubt is, can i control each connected rgb strip in the hub individually, and use that option on each one of the strips? idea is, connect 4 strips to hub, select each screen edge for "ambient awareness" to each individual strip, and use them as a Ambilight sort of feature. my doubt also, apart from if each strip can be individually controlled, is also if they will show different colours along the strip as colours change on the screen edges (as keyboard usually does, i have it mapped for full screen capture and it lightens up the colors closely to what is presented on screen), or if the strips will light with a single colour for this function. Would you be able to reproduce that with your pc, considering that your fans are identified as strips, it might work. each strip or fan selected for only one edge, 1 for top, 1 for bottom, 1 left, 1 right, then open up a video or a game and see if strips show different colours along them as per screen detection, or if they light up a single colour along each strip...... my intention is to get some short strips and stick them behind my screen, and try to reproduce the colours so they reflect in the wall and provide that "ambilight" effect. I currently have a yeelight rgb wifi bulb that has a specific screen region associated to it for a game, when a visual warning pops ingame in that screen region, the bulb changes colour to give me a bigger visual notification. but a bulb lights a single colour obviously.
oh and you can also setup your nanoleafs with this "ambient awareness" feature and have a interesting ambilight feature with them :p i usually use it for elite:dangerous game, a space sim. if i am facing a dark area, the lights go off, if i face a star or planet it will light up with an approximate colour of what that star/planet is ingame (rgb leds are not very accurate colour wise, considering there is 16 million colours, leds are a bit limited to show off all those colours). also use it for euro truck sim, have the sceen zone catching up a part of the truck dashboard, when i drive at night, lights are off, but as soon i drive under a lamp post and my dashboard gets illuminated, the leds will light up and again trying to match the colour captured in that screen zone. that is one of the best things, not only you can choose each screen border, the whole screen, but you can also just select a fraction of it by a simple click and drag feature, crating a "box" in the screen where you want ambient awareness to capture the screen from. for the space game i have it where i get warning messages and where it loads the "warp speed" meter. :p all i can say is, it provides a huge immersion when playing those games, as if you are actually sitting in that chair (be it the truck driver seat, or the space ship pilot seat).
I want to get this for lighting my desk but it seems awkward to plug this into the motherboard with such a short cable (also there'd be no easy way to get this out of my case via a cable anyway)

installed this on my pc and during installation pc froze for some good 10 minutes and I restarted. I installed synapse 3 manually and I see the device in the device manager but I cannot see this at all iinside chroma studio. it says no device. Any troubleshooting steps?

I plug unifan with adapter into razer rgb controller directly and it work perfectly. It detected 16 led per unifan.

Why dont you use the back plating that hides and manages your cables on the case?

I believe so, but you would be limited to 80 total LEDs. And bare in mind the light strip would have to be a 3-pin 5V ARGB
