- Seven directors who helmed some of the best and most popular films and shows on Netflix this year sat down with #RajeevMasand for the #DirectorsRoundtable2021. Neeraj Ghaywan (Geeli Pucchi in Ajeeb Daastaans), Chaitanya Tamhane (The Disciple), Leena Yadav (House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths), Vinay Waikul (Aranyak), Basil Joseph (Minnal Murali), Nandini Reddy (Meera in Pitta Kathalu), and Raghav Subbu (Kota Factory Season 2) explained how they leave their stamp on material they haven't necessarily conceived, revealed what is the one quality all good directors must possess, and spoke candidly about why it's a privilege directing in this streaming age.
Let's break the norm and do roundtables with DOPs, Cinematographers and others.
Excellent idea.
🔥🔥
Dops n cinematography are same na 🤔
@@senguptasayn but that would be boring bro
Can you pls tell me the full form of DOP?
So happy to see Benny Dayal here!!!He has risen so much since his singing days!!
😂
where is benny dayal bro????? lol
basil 🔥
finally he has given a proper super hero for India
minnal murali⚡️⚡️⚡️
Bhavesh Joshi bhi hay
@@divineflu34567 no comparison to minnal murali
And bravest joshi not famous that much
Shaktiman was the first and was so awesome. Then it was Haatim. Then for ghost busting,it was vikraal
In mrinal murali, I really like the story and emotion conveyed by so called villain. He looks real and he deserves sympathy compared to actual hero character. The guy who played villain has done awesome job
Villan name is Guru Somasundaram
he was a theater artist earlier
Haven't seen any of the movie or show they are here for , But enjoying listening them. Nobody is giving long answers or trying to give funny answers like some actors did in actor's roundtable.
Raveena talked a lot in that, I was like miss just please shut up. In Actors the cast was inappropriate I felt that.
@@theawantikamishra Why only Raveena, even Tapasi was way over the top
Watch minnalmurali directed by basil Joseph.... Amazing movie❤
@@geethakrishnan9857 Yeah...It's really a good movie.
@@omnandita12 Previously the same was seen with Rani, talking all the time and then there was Swara giving her competition. They are the dominant and influential type as per DISC, hence the need to grab attention.
Chaitanya is a bonafide star, you can sense the awe he inspires.
Anyone for Basil Joseph.☺😍🥰
Chaitanya has a long way to go. He's a great artist
A little off topic, but Neeraj's white sweatshirt had kinda dissolved the subtitles which was kinda distracting 😂
Agreed
Woww nice to see nandini reddy, her all films including oh baby and pitta kathalu, were outstanding and showed a female perspective. More power to her.
It's so mesmerising listening to the directors, I have always loved knowing about the process of film making and to get to know it from these amazing directors themselves is a priviledge. The questions were very well qurated and everyone got to share their unique methods and stories and working styles. Amongst them I love Neeraj Ghaywan, especially because of his realisation of patriarchy and his films have always given me hope.

Basil❤️❤️🔥🔥☺️
Basil Joseph 🔥
It’s holidays in Espana, and I’m
Watching Rajeev round table with hot chocolate and my cat sleeping on my lap at 3 am in the morning, I missed Rajeev so much ❤️
Here for Basil Joseph.
neeraj ghaywan and chaithanya were amazing to listen to
I binge-watched Aranyak yesterday and it was mind-boggling! Loved it! must watch
Have you watched 'House of secrets the burari case'? If not then pls do..and share your experience.
Just go and watch mare of eastown then u will know
Roundtable for writers!!!!!!
My takeaway from the roundtable: I liked your choice of questions for the roundtable - Thank you, Rajeev.
Through your Video I had the opportunity to meet some of Indias fine directors since I have already watched Basils #MM and I know his past projects not only as an actor but also as a director - he was already on my list of favourites! but I am also very much impressed by Vinay's wisdom - a humble, experienced and very sympathetic personality! Well anyway, only three directors in this round have impressed me, through their answers to your questions.
1. Vinay Waikul - Aranyak
2. Basil Joseph - Minnal Murali
3. Leena Yadav - House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths
These three projects truly made the finale of 2021 entertaining. Thank you for your vision and work on this. Wish you all a happy 2022!
Basil...wow....

Loved this !!!❤️Neeraj sir is love🔥🙏
Hi Rajeev , we miss your movie reviews a lot. Not sure why you have stopped reviewing movies , but we request you to plz start reviewing them. Right now we have others reviewing movies but we miss your fair and correct review without any bias and with your star ratings e use to decide whether to watch a movie or not. Now we are finding it difficult to decide about movies . We miss your reviews and looking forward to seeing you more and more ...
Ajeeb Dastan
All 4 stories with this background sound 😍💯
Rajeev, could have asked about the difference and steps between in MAKING a film/documentary/series for NETFLIX(like burari deaths) or selling/giving a product to netflix, like minnal murali
It's a pleasure listening to them. They articulate their thoughts so well
More of these! More of them! Loved it
Missed you rajeev 🥺 pls do more interviews.
50:44 basil's answer is the best
To Leena - I (in Mauritius from india) had a teenager from Pakistan living in Mauritius recommending house of secrets over a cricket game, because he and his family loved the content.
Man what a round table this type of variety is very important
Was waiting for these roundtables Rajeev.
Why basil talking so less! 2 3 question he didn't give answer... wanted to know more
I was desperately waiting for Rajeev round table . When I watched this at that time I haven't watched Aaryank then I bing it whole night and it was super thrilling, full of surprises and fun. I will watch Minnal movie today definitely.
The way each of the director described their stories vision from Masan to kota factory I realised what persona and perspectives can build such a huge success to our a movie or story .
I really appreciate Rajeev for bringing such diverse director in this table
To be honest I have an inspiration to become a director myself since I have seen movies that really alters my perspective how directors could be able to represent their thoughts and perception through certain stories but I hate to tell you that as long as they don't acknowledge the fact that lack of writing that rendering them affected specifically in bollywood movies. I doubt that such roundtable matters at all. However, regional (south indian) movies are making movies with good stories even though not good budgeted for example *minnal murali*. That was something.
Basil... 🥰
Rajeev- Just started this and your first question is a winner! 🎯
I saw MM, KOTA FACTORY , AND ARYANYAK THOSE ARE GOOD
Waiting for it for so longggh
Please have roundtables for cinematographers, script writers, and many more behind the scenes contributors to movie making
Our Basil ❤️
Basil ❤️
Hats off to Nandini for being so thoughtful and intelligent despite going through the telugu movie industry experience!
Watch Villefranche Belgian series which was release on 2017 you will see alot of similarity with Aranyak.
Best episode so far, I love the inclusion...I'm so happy and really emotional. Love you Rajeev 😍 💗 💓
Thank you Rajeev Masand for hosting this interview. I learnt a lot from everyone on the panel. I really loved this interview very much ❤️
Wish you could have involved some mainstream directors also. Always excited for roundtables but unfortunately haven't watched any of these films.
Please🙏 arrange another 'Writers' Roundtable' very soon please.🙏
Personally also wanted shoojit sircar here and know more bts of sardar uddham
Plz do a singers, composers music directors nd producers roundtable also. That would be so helpful
Hi 😊watching the first time something like this really interesting hardly know this part of the world THANKS SO MUCH
Jumping on this video directly after completing Actors one. The Subtitles, the Huge Hardcoded Extra Large Font Subtitles, are irritating.
Basil 😍😍
Keep it up Basil...
Geeli puchi reminds me of whiplash as a simple looking story comfortably turns into a revenge saga of sorts!
Cinematographers roundtable please.
Rajeev, why didn't you invite Sandeep Reddy vanga director of Kabir Singh, and Arjun Reddy?
Well Done for this panel Rajeev Bhai
Neeraj, Leena, Pallavi❤❤❤❤❤
Always amazing 🔥❤️🔥
Writers every year please
Include directors and technicians from all language film industries
Please tell me there is a writer's roundtable.
Is "The Disciple" inspired or anyway related to "Swathi Kiranam" by Shri K.Vishwanath? . it somehow sounds on the same lines and looks like even the backdrop of both the movies as music is making me feel ,both are on the same subject ...
no! The Disciple falls on the opposite spectrum: journey of a failed musician
Wow it's back
Where is Shoojit Sircar though????
Pity! It’s Netflix only.
Every year the directors talk about empowering writers. Yet they fail to do it wholeheartedly.
House of secrets ❤
Often the subtitles got camouflaged by the white shirt
Basil Joseph
Really enjoyed Aryanak. Pleasantly surprised by Raveena!
basil
Very boring interview no vibe whatsoever between the directors ..they also seem unfamiliar with each other's work
0:04 dhoni ? 😳😱
Basil Joseph 🌞
Captains of the ship......as long as big stars dont interfere
Our Stan Lee.. Basil
Basil ⚡
Basil Joseph minnal murali
The only shows i cared about is kota and geeli puchi
Neeraj ghaywan is the same person who wanted reservation in films🤡
Why no Anand Rai for Atrangi Re????
Yes absolutely
Here for that 31yr boy from Kerala💥💥Minnal Basil... audience from other languages do watch his other works godha and kunjiramayanam
Arre . . The interview starts off with no introduction to the people invited, or their work. Little strange.
Pitha kathalu, Oh Baby had such weak writing.
Aspirants wasnt taken into consideration
This conversation is so spoiler-y, after ignoring it a couple of times, although I wanted to, I had to stop watching the video.
😴
Kota factory was cool. The disciple was refreshing. MM was interesting. Rest was meh or just bad.
The topic of martial rape and the laws around it are much more complicated than anything you can't just think about one thing and that is woman just becouse it is about woman and maybe it's just not only about woman but man too
Aranyk is just a sasti copy of mare of East town
So neeraj is negative about whole hindu community because his was sh***y! What a ridiculous perspective n reason to demonize whole community in every work.
Basil💖
