I started playing this game for the first time about 2 weeks ago. ~50 hours in, I pulled the trigger on buying every existing expansion because I'm absolutely loving it. I had literally zero idea coming into it that a new expansion was in the works, but it's awesome to see it!

It's an amazing game! been playing since beta in '04 of gws1, loved it ever since. totally worth buying everything for it and more! There's also 1-2 more expansions coming out (after this one, rumored) as well as GWS3.

Homesteads present you with an area of land and a permanent structure to cultivate, decorate, and share with your friends; you can also access nodes and unlocks you've acquired for your personal story home instance in your homestead. Before we launch on August 20, we'll be back to share loads more information and a look at Homesteads decorating.
So the story home instance is useless now?
@@robertwaremusic People without the exp pack will still use the character race home instance and anything story related. The homestead looks to be an upgrade to the old home instance, yes.

Super stoked. Love the art style and feel of this expansion. I feel the “wilds” concept coming to life with a touch of dread that bjora marches had. Player housing being added is DOPE, I hope we will be able to showcase all the unlockable trophies we’ve accumulated over the years. GW2 is not a dying game, this trailer is more than proof! LETS GO!!!
Edit: how can I forget to mention the MUSIC?! The opening sequence is beautiful, I feel the Scottish/gaelic/scandinavian vibes. We are in for a treat FAM!

Tbh this is the first time a trailer hyped me. Seems really atmospheric and detailed. Bring me some Howling Fjord vibes, hopes this dont be ruin with a skyscale spam.
mounts have certainly negated the amazing atmosphere this game has to offer... if it was mounts off, it'd be fantastic.

same soto was very underwelming and unrelated to the lore of tyria besides the astral ward. Which left me dissapointed and uninterested in the story when the astral ward got less screen time.

@@ea3414 I liked it up to when Cerus got killed but when it became good demans vs bad demons the plot became so boring an uninteresting. I probably would have liked the xpac in its entirly if it was just about Zojja, the astral ward, and Cerus being the main villain. Eparch and Peitha are so bland and boring. Tbh the whole demon concept never interested me I didnt like it in Gyla Delve and neither here in soto.

Don't get too excited. It's arenanet. I doubt there will be too much freedom with housing. Most likely "press F to build chair" as it was with literally everything else in home instances until now.
@@YoroifulFirst of all, Guild Halls already have full furniture placing and freedom, people build jumping puzzles, Beetle mount racing tracks, etc. Also "its arenanet" is actually biggest thing you could have said to get me excited, they didnt just do gliding, they did it proper, they didnt just do mounts, they did it proper, best mounts in MMORPG scene, they didnt just do fishing, they did it proper, with lots of achivements, items and even "boats". So we will be very excited, thank you very much :D

It sounds promising lore wise hopefully content and storywise its good. Soto was more of a QOL update than an xpac and as many say its like a living world season. Nothing grand in the scale of previous xpacs.
Will they remember to give the Janthir people Spanish names to finally explain Saul D'Alessio's and Doern Velazquez's names? Or are they from somewhere else unknown?
Saul is Krytan. Kryta is based on Spain. Been explained since Prophecies.

@@Bokatisha1234 Kryta isn't based on Spain at all, it was based on South East Asia in Gw1 and then vaguely Europe in Gw2. Saul D'Alessio was in Kryta, but it was never said where he was born, whereas Doern Velazquez is explicitly not from Kryta.
@@Bokatisha1234 Kryta isn't only based on Spain, you have plenty of french and italian influences as well. ( I only speak for GW2, it was different in the first one).
For Doern I think his character was like an easter egg, a reference to something they planned but never released, Utopia. As the place wasn't supposed to be in Tyria but in the Mists, that could explain why he doesn't come from here.
Love the aesthetic of this expansion. Being out in the wilds with a land spear. Great energy, can’t wait!

TONS OF GW1 lore vibes!! I love the fact Tyria is such a mysterious world we know nothing, there's always a shadow of something bigger and more mysterious.
Just wondering, do the current developers ever feel embarrassed in their work when they compare the currently released content with Path of Fire or Heart of Thorns? What's being produced for the past two expansions-and here now in this upcoming one-looks like someone datamined all the GW2 assets and attempted to make a fan-made GW2, but with no knowledge or understanding of the artistry and uniqueness that made GW2 what it was. I truly wish the game had gone into maintenance mode after the end of LS4, maybe then I'd still be playing.
Lot of the old devs are long gone and replaced by people who literally are making terrible content at this point. I wish the end of LWS4 was the end of the game. I would have accepted it.

Just returned to the game yesterday and had no idea the next expansion was already here. I stopped before end of dragons released. Boy I've got some things to relearn lmao

So hyped! It's beautiful! Housing is right down my street with the rustic decorations!
I'm excited. A new weapon is never something to sneeze at and we get it on all profession's.
As for me I'm also excited for the Warclaw to get some love. It's a highly underrated mount.
So far from what I see the story is going to involve us dealing with a new clan of Kodan, potentially Titans( super hype for this), housing and new legendary spear and backpack.
Mastery lines are what I think at least: homestead, probably spear usage, something with the Warclaw( similar to the turtle and skyscape), and something that will be expac specific.
Overall happy to see some of the old NPCs back and happy to explore more of Tyria.
Please please please please make sure the weapon animations and sounds are complete this time. Elementalist pistol still lacks a muzzle-flash, among other things, and alt sounds on weapon skins do not work like they do with every other profession.
I'm glad we are back on a more classic fantasy setting

Decided to take a break from this game 6 months ago, excited to play it again after seeing this trailer.
However, Arena Net decided to block my account for no reason. Try to find out and ask my friend who is still actively playing, he said all players from our country are blocked. I play in SEA, Indonesia 8 years playing & about 4000+ hours playing. If by any chance Arena Net sees this, Arena Net you gay AF.

They have finally figured it out.
Story mode raid will be available on release as a 50 player convergence. Then there will be a standard 10 player instance comming with patch #1. Challenge mode with patch #2 and legendary difficulty with patch #3.
Also personal homes we can decorate and a new weapon on release. There's something for everyone.
*Will GW3 come out so all of this becomes defunct?
*Is the open world still too easy?
*Is the combat still such that it doesn't matter which order the buttons are pressed?

@@vane909090 well in terms of quality WoW is dead. All blizzard does now is copy other mmos and hardly offer original content in WoW modern. Classic WoW is a different story, that’s a blast.
It used to be underrated. The new dev team has changed so much it's barely distinguishable from all the other MMO slop that comes out these days.

Titans from gw1 are already reused assets. They are destroyers and jade golem from EoD... Nothing similar to the old ones from the first game
They don't even have the artists to make new assets, let alone the ones of a quality that could math Path of Fire or Heart of Thorns lol.

The magic of GW2's trailers is that except for the hype about the new things coming out, there is no disappointment because the ingame will always look better than the trailers / announcements do xD

It's about time we got land spear weapons. This opens up a ton of possibilities for players. My warrior and ranger have been dying for good spear access. Good job ANet.
Player housing is cool and all but if you're only going to be doing mini expansions going forward you need to put a lot more effort into the trailer and promotion. Any outside player looking in on this isn't gonna be impressed at all. The reveals for the first 3 expansions were so much better and its not just because there was more in them, the presentation was just on another level. If you slack on that presentation it just makes an already small expansion look smaller.

It’s the same as SOTO, that is the new model ArenaNet is going by for the foreseeable future.
Small scale expansion where content is added over time in small pieces.
They won’t do expacs like HOT, POF, and EOD anymore. They didn’t have the people to work on expansions and Living World Stories back-to-back.
Anet also lost some longtime devs and the new ones were learning things anew.
Not a good look for Anet’s future, but the playerbase is mostly financially invested by now so it’ll carry them for a bit longer!
@@judgedrago1143 Yeah but so is a skin for league of legends. It's an expansion which defines what kind of DLC it is. Calling everything DLC just makes it confusing. EDIT: And Expansions and DLC were not the same when they first appeared, not at all. They were two separate things.
YES YES YES. Finally a home system! I've always said that's one of the major things missing aside from fishing and that was implemented flawlessly! I'm always in awe at the creativity and attention ya'll put in, thank you! Can't wait to build, hopefully there's the ability to add crafting stations, vendors, and a farm!

OMG Janthir! I'm officially hyped, haha. We were just talking in Auric Basin a few hours ago about how we had no expectations or expected to be disappointed, but going to Janthir is a great idea!! The music seems great too.

And I may be additionally harsh because I dislike playerhousing. It makes no sense in a MMO (MASS MULTIPLAYER) to focus on a place for myself. I have this in skyrim already, and we even have our player instances in cities already. We really don't need anymore of this :(
It's a red flag for me to hear some of the people speaking so slowly in this trailer. That was one of my biggest gripes with "Secrets of the Obscure"-it felt as if everyone wanted to pause after every word and each vowel was hung onto for dear life while nearly all major NPCs present in that expansion waxed poetry, all made worse by the persistent info/trauma-dumps from characters I was never given any real motivation to care about. I really hope that's not too consistent through the Janthir Wilds story. I like the aesthetic of this expansion already, though! There's a lot going on with the wildlife, fauna, flora, and magic creatures :D I am pleased with the scenery, and it looks worth while for just that alone. Anet killing all competition with their freshest after so many years? Say it ain't so.

End of Dragons was weak storywise as compared HOT and POF. Didn’t bother with SOTO yet, but seems the general consensus is that it’s just “okay”..
This trailer isn’t really selling much besides a vague sense of some sort of pervasive danger.
In fairness, this may just be a teaser trailer and not a full one.
Anet has gone through some tumultuous times and I’ve enjoyed it well enough since those Pre-Searing days in Ascalon.
It does seem that the game may be in its twilight period though.

I really loved gw2 before all the power/feature creep. HoT was the last great expansion full of interesting map designs and you had to really learn the maps and figure out the glider routes. The metas were fun and interesting and the raids were hard at the start. I feel like modern gw2 is bloated with power creep, utility creep and a whole bunch of useless masteries and not to mention mounts that let you travel anywhere without any real thinking... well they basically made the same mistake as WoW did when they introduced flying mounts which completely trivialized the game.
The problem with this expansion is that we dont have any real nostalgia towards isle of janthir because we never been there lol. There was a little minipet in GW1 called Eye of Janthir, but apart from that no one really knows anything about it lol. To me it just looks like more copy pasted assets and more boring white mantle story lines. Its just not interesting anymore.

This game is really starting to show it's age now.
Enjoy GW2, GW3's being delveoped, allegedly. So we might see a beta in 2-3 years. I can easily see a launch 5 years from now. At least they're working on it; compare th at to world of warcraft and ffxiv who are scared of making a sequel.
The game's engine is so dated, you can have a R7 7800X3D + RTX 4090 and your game will still lag on max settings. I'm not joking, look it up on youtube.
