This song is, for me, about my husband. I first heard Alison Krauss’s version before I met him, then again after... and was immediately in happy tears. And again, happy tears upon hearing your version. It is a special song indeed!

As for our voice types, do you mean where we would be placed in a choir? If so, that would be a bari-tenor range for Reilly and mezzo soprano for McKenzie :)

Thank you. And yay, I got it pretty correctly because I thought a mezzo and a higher baritone / lower tenor.
I'm still trying to place my own voice. My first singing teacher classified me as a mezzo-soprano, but my second teacher said contralto, so I'm still not sure. I must say that I found the contralto range more pleasant and can go pretty low, but my voice sounds pretty bright, especially when singing higher... I stopped going to my singing lessons when I was finishing high school, but I'm trying to practise again. 😊
Btw, you have a new Patron (although only at the $1 level for now). 🙋♀
Haha oh no totally took it as a compliment! We dabble in higher energy stuff sometimes, but we do have a lot of chill songs and both love that kind of music!
And don't feel like you need to be defined by what you think your range "should" be. In college Reilly was in mens choir and was placed as a lower baritone mostly because he wasn't comfortable singing higher yet, and McKenzie was in the womens acappella group mostly as an alto (out of necessity from the group). It was after all that with our own content that we were able to explore our voices and develop more range :)

A couple different artists have done versions before ours! It was originally by Keith Whitley, but then Alison Krauss and Ronan Keating both did very popular versions in the 90's 😊❤️

So who's the main vocals here? If you have drowned out one voice then it would have sounded like a top tier Tim McGraw-Faith Hill song. When they do a duet, they always have a main vocalist and then a sort of background vocals. It's not who sounds better, it's about coming up with a more centered song. Anyway, i do like your overall production. Wishin you both more success!
