    Dang, this is my favorite interviewee EVER!
    Thanks for having me, Jack! It was a lot of fun and I meant it when I said I'm honored to be a part of it. We did this interview a little while ago and I'm STILL figuring out how to make videos about people other than myself. I have many ideas. It's coming.

      Firstly, Jack Conte, you're killing it with this channel. I loved the interview with GMM's Stevie, and now Wheezy too? I feel like you're really finding the creators that have made and are making TH-cam what it is. Thank you!

    Wheezy is the kind of old Internet personality that I miss having in the zeitgeist of the meta of TH-cam.

  • @EveryFurtherMile

    I think, as a long-time Wheezy Waiter fan, his personality comes through in every video. So, the purpose of the video may change, but he still shows up as his hilarious self. Now, more people are enjoying his videos because it's a power combo of quality info and his humor.
    I love watching his videos to laugh and take all these challenges more lightly (health stuff is almost always so serious).

    Wheezywaiter is probably one of the longest creators that I've followed (maybe more than a decade now?) I love the fact that he never compromised on his authenticity and remained down to earth even with shifting from random videos with singing carpets, punching eagles and clones, to his current type of content.

    I've been watching Craig since 2008/9, he has been a consistent person in my life for such a long time. It's very weird that's he's not somebody I know in real life, but feels like a friend none the less.

    • @jacksaunders7797
      @jacksaunders7797 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was thinking this.
      A big reason I think he the changed worked is the audience that grew up with him and had kinda gotten over the 8 years of the same stuff, were in the same life phases as him. I'm probably 5-10 years younger that Craig, but when his video changed to things he did to actually improve his live and make meaningful changes, I was in a period of my life where I started to things to change my life.
      For me as an only child, I didn't really have a slightly older friend or role model or brother to follow. But it was nice to see the life changes he went through and his mind set change and felt like a good shift for me to.

    Been a beardlover for years and loved the shift! His older videos I enjoyed because it felt like a Saturday morning cartoon or watching the news at breakfast. Similar to the feeling I get watching GMM. Now his content feels more deliberate and thought provoking which has lead to changes and thoughts into my daily life. No matter what he puts out, I’ll always make sure to see what Craig is up to!

    My channel’s metrics have been in decline since 2017, so this interview was very relatable and useful. Going from exponential viewership growth (and all the opportunities that come with that) to the opposite feels like the most 1st world of problems, but damn it still really knocked my confidence and self esteem. Thanks for being willing to talk about external success metrics (eg resonating with the audience) with nuance rather than staying safe with puritanical ideals about being a “true artist” who doesn’t “sell out” or think about external success ever.
    My last two videos have underperformed, but they are the kind of video I want to make, so I have to decide whether to double down or try something else. Hopefully, I can find the middle ground. Longer videos is definitely something I’ll try after hearing Craig’s experience.

    I found WheezyWaiter just before the sugar video. I blinged watched the content. I think the other thing that worked for him was that his audience was ready to get to know him better. When China step into the videos, it grounded the videos in reality. WheezyWaiter became Craig. Instead of a character we loved, he was a friend we could journey with.

    Thanks for this video. I used to watch the crap out of WheezyWaiter and it was one of my inspirations for making weird comedy sketches. Now this current channel I create on is completely different, but I find it very interesting that someone as creative as Craig found a way to reinvent himself without having to start from scratch a second time. Thanks to both of you!
