I let my Wife use our Tracker IV for her first try at metal detecting at a local football field. I set it up in tone mode and told her to dig every high tone. After an hour she found $7 in change. Coins were everywhere. That is still one of our best sites for coin shooting. Found a gold ring and some silver jewelry there too.

It's a great machine for what you pay. Happy Hunting!

That key that fit the safe, I believe, is a CH751. You'll find that it fits a lot of things :)

The Tracker 4 is a very special metal detector with a lot of uses and unique advantages. Chances are it will last someone decades because they`re tough. Recovery speed is blazing fast and it has excellent discrimination. One of the main things is it`s very easy to use for finding coins and lost rings and is a great detector to get for someone who wants to try detecting or find a ring they`ve dropped. I`ve found a lot of gold and silver with Bounty Hunter machines. I bought a Tracker 4 for my nephew last month so he can take his son detecting. People often complain about the "useless signal strength needle" but it makes it possible for deaf people to use the machine.

Couldn't agree more about Bounty Hunter machines. I have the Fast Tracker. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a low battery warning light. I'll step up to the Tracker IV eventually, which does. Excellent point about the signal strength needle. I never even considered that. The folks that build Bounty Hunter machines also produce Fisher and Teknetics metal detectors, right here in the U.S. Good luck and stay safe.

I keep my tracker 4 in my car trunk at all times for those"surprise" hunts I may come across. Hasn't failed me yet!

Just bought this metal detector and I’m new to this! What settings do you recommend for beginners?

I would start out without any of the Disc/Notch and turn up the Sensitivity settings and just see what each items rings as. Once you are able to get used to what will "hit". You can start turning down the Sensitivity and turning up Disc/Notch. That way when you start getting an idea of what a coin or ring sized item beeps as you will be more likely not to dig if it's junk. Digging junk can be fine if it's a site with history, but if it's a park you will get lots of pull tabs.
