Hello Yooper, thank you for letting us know about these books. I am also a Michigander..Would love to know where some new spots to fish.. I will be checking out some of your other videos. New sub here... Oh and thank you for cleaning up the trash. We did a bunch of that yesterday at Metro Beach.. People can be such slobs.. Awesome catches. 💪🔥
Thank you so much for talking about those Sportsman Connection fishing guide books. Ive seen pages of those posted at different lakes ive visited and scoured the internet to find out where they were from but couldnt figure it out until now.
Great video nice to see some of my favorites spots are still producing. I grew old and moved to the coastal bend of Texas. I have a few really good spots to fish when the Mayfly's are hatching one alongside the east side of the Mackinac Bridge in 25 to 35 FOW on the north end, in front of the state park campgrounds.. Round Whitefish AKA Menominee using Swedish Pimples tipped with a wax worm. Some videos on here from a few years ago when I fished there and people crossing the mighty Mack took pictures and video of me with fish on. I used to own the Brevoort Lake Camp Store many years ago and the back bay was a sure spot for Muskie and everyone I knew who fished them practiced catch and release. Tight lines and a great future are ahead of you.
Great video, thank you. Thank you for picking up someone elses trash, I've never understood how people that use and enjoy the out of doors can choose to use it as a dumpster. TIGHT LINES
I have both of those books and the one for downstate. I absolutely love and cherish them. They're the most handy thing for outdoorsman. Also, I'm really familiar with that area. My parents live back towards Brimley and we have a vacation place there too. I absolutely love it up there. The fishing is amazing. Great video!
@@WanderingYooper I'd love to, but I've got a farm in Hillman that I have to tend to. It'll probably be 2-3 weeks before I can make it up there. When I go, I'm going to Shelldrake lake, north of Paradise. It's my favorite place to fish. Lots of perch, blue gill, bass, and pike. Trout in the river, downstream from the dam and an abandoned state campground. I haven't found a spot up there that I don't like fishing
I have dynamite luck with Rebel grasshopper surface poppers. Pike seem to like it more than my other surface plugs. They catch a lot of other species too.
Fenwick 7 foot HMX medium fast action with a pflueger president Gr 10 reel. I have others but that's what I use most often. It's great for everything from walleye to pike and musky. Trolling, or casting. Appreciate your comment.
What is the lure you're using in the opening of the video? I've seen several anglers incite super aggressive strikes with it, but can't seem to figure out what it is!❤❤❤
I was trying to get some fishing footage this evening and ended up with a pike and my hand hooked nicely together 😳😂🤦♂️ well at least I know how he felt 😂😂 Thanks for the comments Jack!
Man I want to try this river next August when I'm up. I won't have a boat. Any part wadable? Preferably below the falls or not too far above. If not I'll be wading a creek not to far away for rainbows and brookies
Lots of spots down river from the falls Kevin. I would have a hard time directing you to them though. If you can bring a kayak with you and grab an atlas, you will find all sorts of gems. Tight lines my friend!
Brown trout are planted every year below the upper falls. I have tried fishing from the bank but the root beer colored water is tough fishing. Clear water is found way west in the headwaters. McMillan area nw.
U.P. eh? Thanks for the video. Never fished the UP but went up there fifty years ago to visit a girlfriend in Marquette and slept in a tent alongside the road in the snow.
I think it would be easier for you catching pike and muskie if you brought a little bit of a bigger net and rubber mesh. One of these times you're gonna get a monster on and wont be able to land it. I fish lake St. Clair and the St. Clair river and always have a big net on me. I never know when the big ones are gonna bite but I hate not having the right net, its happened a few times when I was fishing for walleye or smallmouth. I've even caught some steelhead around 20lbs that wouldnt fit in my net when I was largemouth fishing, took forever to land it.
I agree Dustin, believe it or not I had a nice net - large, rubber mesh, perfect handle size for the kayak. But it broke just before I made the video, and a few outings after I was still looking to buy another. Think I have a replacement that will work great this season. Thanks for the tips and the comment. Tight lines my friend.
@@WanderingYooper ,you can stick the end of your pole in the water,to do the round about they seem to get aggressive with the chase and the slow down.tight lines my friend 🐟
Never tell I fished a place for a long time and it was one of the best places I’ve ever fished then it was in a magazine and the next year you couldn’t catch a fish to save your ass and the bass boat assholes ruined it
Don't tell the world or else it won't be good fishing for long! Every time I've ever shared my best fishing spots, six months later those spots are all but useless from pickledicks that keep any/all fish 5" or more, or just too crowded. Drives me nuts!

I love fishing for pike in a kayak but they are a pain to deal with at the side, found myself bleeding a few times and never knew how it happened

I’m headed to some of the smaller lakes just south of pictured rocks… never really targeted walleye or smallmouth. No fishfinder.. any tips?
Are you launching at the mouth? I’ll be kayak fishing this sept on the T but unsure where to launch
