That felt like and important victory Oxford fans. Preston made us work hard for it, but great to get back to winning ways. Is the Kassam becoming a fortress? #OUFC & #PNEFC fans let me know your thoughts. 🐂COYY!!
Just love Tyler, baby faced assassin 😀 thought it looked like a beating after 5 mins but we showed we have the strong mental attitude to survive this league. Preston fans were good but looking at their forum they mention poor Oxford etc and blaming the ref, thats why these teams underestimate Oxford at their peril and give us hope to stay up, COYY!
Preston fans are always going to think they should beat us, they have been in a higher league for 25 years and most fans never would have even seen the 2 sides play. We have been guilty of that in the past so you can't blame them. I think Paul Heckingbottom has realised that his squad is quite limited with quality and had to resort to going all out at the start of the game and then holding on. Credit to Oxford and Buckingham for weathering the storm and coming back to claim a very satisfying win. Good times!! COYY
Great win, especially so after going a goal behind. On radio Oxford they said Tyler in his post-match interview had a teenager’s voice, but spoke with the maturity of a 45 year old man. What a man, what a goal, what a player!
Cheers Larry it was an excellent win and very encouraging the way they fought back after being all at sea for the first 15-20 mins. I heard that Goodrham interview and he dud sound very level headed. We are lucky to have him as he is a fantastic talent.
4 in 4 games for Harris. The man is in such a rich vein of form in 2024. He works so hard for the team and it’s great to see he’s finally getting the rewards. International break comes at the right time now. Can get a few players back from injury and give the newbies some more time training with their teammates
That's why it felt important to get the win on Saturday as Oxford fans can go into the international break on a high. Buckingham has certainly got the best out of Harris.
Important 3 points Ian, lets hope the break doesn't halt the momentum. The defeats away from home, haven't really felt like defeats as we were competitive (maybe not the cup match). We are always going to be under dogs this season, but you know what, Desmondo has got us playing as a team with an identity, and us Oxford love it.🙂
Very true James, but I actually think the break has come at the right time. Another home game up next and it would be amazing to get another win. Stoke might be a similar side to Preston so nothing to fear. COYY
Really happy for Greg Leigh to come on and score. I would have him in the starting line up every Match. Excellent result, just a shame continuity may be broken for the Int'l shut down. Fingers x things continue as they are when we return to Lge action. COYY.
I actually think the break comes at a good time, and gives some of the new players time to settle in. Leigh was excellent in this game. Bennett has been good too so its a decent battle between the pair of them. 2 full backs that give us good options. Leigh does also give us that ariel presence in both boxes which is blooming useful. It's exciting as we have a very strong squad. COYY
Thanks for your usual excellent review Ian. If we can stay in the Championship for the first season this will be a success. So we need patience. I remember Preston knocking us out of the cup many, many years ago. Revenge is a dish best eaten cold. Ken
Cheers Ken, I heard Nick Harris talking about Preston knocking Oxford out of the cup, I don't remember it. It's been a good start to life back in the championship and hopefully an exciting season ahead
Another good performance from you Ian, I am going to say this mate but Tyler can score great goals with both feet, a former legend on the wing was the same, Tyler is turning out to be Joey reincarnated, Joey was the best player I'd ever seen , he had my hairs on my arms standing on end sometimes, Tyler is starting to do the same, I couldn't go today but watched the game, and you seem to expect Tyler to produce some magic, I hate to compare anyone with Joey but he is the closest player we have ever produced to him. He is only going to get better which is awesome to think. Anyway Ian another great video yet again , an early 8th in the league. Many thanks mate
Graham, wonderfully put and I can't help but think the same when I watch Goodrham. I can still remember that whenever Beauchamp got the ball the Manor just roared with anticipation, and I find myself doing the same for Goodrham now. The fact he can play on the wing or in midfield is a bonus too. Oxford have had a really strong transfer window, but Goodrham in my opinion has to start every week. Great start to the season and COYY
Blimey, Preston went off like a train and I was worried but credit to us we sorted it out and got a vital win. I thought we controlled things in the main from around 25 minutes and proved again that we can compete in this league. Thought McEachran was immense, he just never gives the ball away.
Cheers Michael, it was such a frustrating first 20 mins, especially after the Coventry cup game. But Des and the players sorted it out and we came away with a very satisfying win. I was very skeptical of McEachran starting, but he was excellent and got an assist for the first goal.
Great to see that we can do the old cliche of winning when not playing at our best. That's an important asset! Sorry to see the injury to Bennett, he was not far off MOTM for us against Blackburn last week. I like Greg Leigh a lot, but Bennett is better at the hard graft defensive stuff. And yes, whatever doubts lots of us might have about our distant Indonesian owners, they have certainly backed Des to the hilt in this transfer window.
Cheers Ted, certainly was a satisfying win, because Oxford had to fight hard for it. We are seeing the benefit of a strong squad where we have losts of options as I thought Leigh made a big difference when he came on for Bennett. I was also critical of Kioso in recent weeks, but thought he was good on Saturday too. So far so good. COYY
@@OUFCFanView Yes, Kioso looked shaky and quite limited at Blackburn, but it's easy to forget that we're only a few games in and some players just need real game time to show what they can do.
Good review again. I thought it was a good performance overall against the type of team that used to beat oxford. For me 3 differences in the last few months -good management, good squad and 3) better team spirit/atmosphere. I also thought it was harsh leaving vaulkes out as he has played very well. But buckingham talked about people looking at the external results before the game, and on that note - vaulkes cost us two goals and at least 2 points, so be brave and make the change. Which over 90 mins did pay off. Glad to see Greg Leigh, he is one of our best players. Bennet has done well, but I just think leigh is better, so its that simple really. May upset balance of team, but might be worth dropping rodrigues who hasn't really been in any of the last 3 games, move brannigan over and play leigh on the left side midfield. Then we can have both. I also feel regardless of any injury, dembele should be in over phillips. Phillps calm, doesnt waste the ball very often, but not quite dangerous enough for me. Also on the worry list is Kioso, not really bad, but seems a bit too out of sorts defensively. I think we have enough pace in the team to put a defensively minded long there instead (although he has done well at centre back) but he is better RB. I live in leicester and their supporters rate this centre half we've signed, so hopefully he can cover for moore. But what a season so far, and I honestly cant think of a time in the last 15 -20 years where we have had such a strong squad of players.
Cheers Pete, I heard the same thing about that Leicester defender so he seems like another quality addition. I'm a bit torn on Bennett and Leigh. I think they are both useful and can be effective. Leigh was excellent, but would he have even got on the pitch if Bennett did not get injured. Either way it's good to have strong options there. I actually thought it was Kioso's best game that I have seen. Hopefully he improves from here, but he also will face competition from Long and the Dutch defender we signed. All in all you are right to say this is the best squad for donkeys years. It really exciting to see and I can't wait for the next game. COYY
Class will always shine through OXFORD deserved to win this one. I thought the referee was poor and Preston quite dirty team if they carry on playing like that, they will get more play sent off as for Preston supporters shouting out Southern softies I think they should look at their self northern idiots if they’re gonna carry on playing like that They could’ve had another player I sent off come on you 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Southern softies and on the reverse dirty northern bar stewards are pretty much par for the course chants, but I agree with you Peter that Oxfords quality shone through and it was wonderful to see that we can win whilst not being at our best and withstanding the battering we took at the start of the game. COYY

Good win for Oxford against one of the hardest teams to play against in the championship
They were very physical and it looked like after 15 minutes that they would batter us, so to fight back was very good to see.

It was a good start
Next game be on the radio
I am sure it will be. Radio Oxford normally do every game
I might be on the radio
Ahh, sorry I was a bit slow there. Fantastic news. Is that on the RAD OX wasnt at the game show?

The ref was aweful for both sides... Sh*t refs, we always get sh*t refs 🎵🎵🎶🎶💛💙💛💙
It's was a scrappy ugly game to officiate, and he kind of lose control of it.
The referees was lenient towards preston lucky not to have more sent off
Especially Wil Keane up top. He must have made about 10 fouls in the game and didn't get booked. Cheers or the comment Martin
I'm going to the stoke game
Good man Finn. I'll be there in spirit
What do you think will be the score
What is your phone number
@FinnWatkins-b5i quite confident of another win so I will say 2-1 Oxford.
