Thank you for this. I’m a musician too and developed tinnitus in 2014 when I was 20, went mad with it, then got earplugs and white noise generators to help me habituate. Four months later I’d habituated completely. I kept gigging with my earplugs, and even on quiet nights my tinnitus didn’t bother me. Currently, I’m going through a rough patch, my first in six years really. It hasn’t gotten worse, I’ve just become fixated on it and sleeping has been difficult, but I know it’ll get better. It’s just a phase, it hasn’t ruined my life so far, and it won’t. I can keep it under control and prevent it worsening. Thanks for sharing your story!
Try to remember it will get better with time . Sounds like you already know this 👍 if you are interested I have a new TH-cam channel dedicated just to tinnitus. Called Help My Tinnitus. 👍

With one in five U.S. teens currently experiencing permanent hearing loss from noise by the age of 19, it's critical that we get the word out about tinnitus and other types of preventable hearing damage. Thank you for your efforts to reach out and help others learn the importance of protecting their hearing.
Thank you so much, man, i have tinnitus like 3 years already, i'm multi instrumentalist and composer, its began when i was 27 (now im 30) and i was god why, im so young for this s6it, but there's nothing to do, this video really encouraged me( i immediately found the app and seems like it helps) also i was told by the doctors that hearing aids could help with that, but at the same time as long as i research, there's so many people dealing with tinnitus without hearing aids(for instance - Sting that having that problem, for my joy, i not joying that someone suffering, i joying that i'm not alone here) Thanks again! Im gonna check your music
Very good advice here. I’ve had tinnitus since September 2020 and went through a very dark 6 months. Although I still hear it all the time I no longer have an emotional reaction to it. Habituation does happen but you have to work at it a bit.
Thank you for this video! I am a singer from Romania with Tinitus and cookie bite hearing loss (the middle range is very damaged) and I have been living with this for 4 years now. I use earplugs and in-ear monitoring during events, trying to protect my hearing as much as I can in order to not damage even more, but daaaamnnn, sometimes is so hard and stressful. A positive mindset will definitely help us. I have a routine in the evening, I read a lot and play instrumental music in the background plus melatonine to help me prepare for a good night sleep. And yes, you are right, as long as we shift the attention from T, we can go on living a decent life. Thank u again for filming this. Hugs from Bucharest, Romania, Europe.
I am also a musician, and I started to experience tenatis a while back. I looked for help; I started to wear earplugs; I had my ears tested; and I took longer breaks. All of these things hep, but my teñiría did not go away completely until I took a break for good. I am talking about to months at least. Now I take it seriously in every situation. I do t live off music. This is why I was able to take a good break. Anyway, if you can’t take a long break, listen to brown noise, and wear earplugs every time you are expose to loud noises.
The second Pfizer jab gave me temporary tinnitus in left ear. I was terrified. Can’t hear it now thanks god. But people need to protect ears they were not made to be exposed to loud sounds or any kind of trauma.
@@jackrubinacci_official Heyy I have seen so many videos who are suffering from this problem. You are the first one who I felt gave the best advice. Your words are encouraging. I wish you best luck :) N thank you :)
I have -10, -12 and -15 moulded earplugs + one in my car. and another thing to say is, every few years you need to re-do the moulds as the material deteriorates so they have a limited shelf life - but it's THE best thing you can do for your ears
Thanks dude, really needed this today while currently going through an episode of tinnitus getting worse. 31 and had it since I was 25. Being a music producer I can't explain how much it helps to see other musicians in the same boat having overcome the challenges and anxiety it brings on. Thanks for the tips, particular with recording. Big love ❤️
Hello 👋 really glad the video was of use, yes I know what mean about seeing other musicians with t. It’s helped me too. I’ve been doing a lot of interviews lately that you might find of use. Check out Ben Thompson interview I did. Also a music podcast called WCA. Another good interview I did. Best of luck 🤞
I'm a musician and I just acquired tinnitus. It wasnt from loud noise with shows but IDK where it came from. But, Its minor and comes and goes but I dont want it to get worse. It seems to bother me most when I sleep. So, when it first started I was drinking crazy amounts of booze to relax and to just get on. But, I like to see people out there that give supportive messages. This helped a lot.
Hello David . Glad the video helped a little. As a musician you’d do well to make sure to have at least one set of good ear plugs and another one as a back up . That will reduce your chances of making the T worse on stage . T always gets better with time so stay strong.
Have you heard of Dr Itua who cures tinnitus permanently? He cured my tinnitus effectively with his supplements thanks so much Doc Youtu.be/ibEgU-dFpDE
I agree in principle about your brain filtering it out to some extent. That said, it never really goes away, especially when I am in a quiet/peaceful environment. Then it is like a massive amount of cicadas are buzzing. The same is true when I go to sleep many nights, as it is difficult to ignore. I suspect that is part of the reason I cannot get a restful sleep most nights.
My tinnitus started around 2014. The worst thing about it is that it made me very irritable, out of focus and sensitive to disruptive sounds (chairs dragging, doors slamming, dish washing, loud talking) to the point of being obsessed with wanting silence and progressively distancing myself from people. But as i get into quieter environments, the more present tinnitus becomes because there's no ambient sounds/noises to distract me. Things that help me: using headphones without music or very low volume music. Reducing stimulants like coffee. Reducing sugar. Using earplugs when i go to sleep. Taking melatonin pills once in a while to help sleeping deeply without interruptions. Exercise! I do running and it helps with stress, getting in shape and getting tired which makes me fall asleep much faster.
Hello. yes I understand every thing you have said here. It’s a challenge but exercise and keeping a strong frame of mind like you are is absolutely the best thing to do . 👍
Mine started in 2012 and I can totally relate to what you are describing. However, when I was diagnosed with tinnitus I wore ear plugs a lot to block out the hyperacusis. My audiologist told me not to do that because my ears would get too used to the quiet which actually makes the tinnitus and hyperacusis worse! I took her advice and it really helped my brain adjust to louder noises, although I still wear ear plugs in truly loud environments like crowds and concerts, etc.
Wastelander…ear plugs when you go to sleep? How does that work? I need outside noise to take my tinnitus less noticeable so I can sleep soundly. Ear plugs make it so much louder. Very curious
@@Andrew-pp2ql well, in my case if i hear too much noise at night i just can't sleep due to ear irritation. I use earplugs to block the excessive noise and promote a quiet environment calming the ear overstimulation, making the tinnitus sort of "go away". But during the day i also need ambient noise to mask tinnitus.
34, been suffering from it since i'm 27. It came in my life just at the worse moment, when my bass playing was getting good and found a band that would want me to get in. Stopped everything, got really anxious for months, because It was hurting also. For months, every little sounds hurted me. Went into isolation, got depressed... It was an atrocious thing. Because, I was not only playing music, but also working in the industry. So loud volume was always too close, too near. Then I made some changes in my life. Got some molded musician earplugs, cut the Rock band practices (one of the hardest moment in my life), and just started to be smart about it. Slowly going back to shows, not getting right beside the speakers. Sometimes having this anti-sound helmet drummers or firearm practicionners use. Also slowly got back into music, but playing electronical or acoustic, so I could have more control over volume. My life and my career (professionel videographer in the music industry) didnt stop, but it did take a suckerpunch. Maybe I could have been a professionnal musician if I could have prevented it to happen. But anyway, it does really get better if you care about it. And for a long time I got back my normal life until last week! I just abused myself and my health. Went to 4 shows in six day, got smashed (alcool dont help), drank a lot of coffe( were working multiple days in a row, and caffeine doesnt help either). I just ducking regret it... But, like he says, yeah, it well get better. Until then, I have to back down shows and everything andjust get use to this new noise floor.
Dr Ogbebor herbal centre on TH-cam his medicine for tinnitus is amazing, just two weeks and tinnitus was gone , I was so surprised when I heard ,John Mayer , Eric Clapton and many other musicians have used His herbal medicine for their tinnitus also .
People close to me know this is something I've dealt with in my life, and most people it seems have had a brush with something resembling tinnitus, but recently I had a friend come to me for some advice and I could tell right away that he was really in the thick of it. The absolutely very first thing that I thought of was to send him here! Heh, I know it's maybe a little niche but this is one of the best vids on the internet. Thanks Jack you helped get me out of a tough spot once and so I'm glad to pass it along! And to whoever needs to hear it: You're going to get on with your life... while the tinnitus will last its ability to get a hold of your attention definitely will not and it's going to be you one day giving out the advice on how to deal with it! I promise!

Yes he's right!! Except it and keep. On living you can do it. I've had tinnitus now 10 years buzzing in my head 24-7 when it gets quite i do enjoy it. Live your life to the fullest Theres life after tinnitus God bless Have a great Day!!
Hi Jack. Thanks for this video. I know you from the Studio Rats and did not suspect you had Tinnitus ! I play music for decades and I have developed Tinnitus recently. I have put my ears at rest and totally stopped amplified music for a few weeks already. In order not to lose my playing skills, I still exercise everyday, but silently, without plugging my instruments into an amplifier. Last week, I tried to plug in again at very low level, about 60 db, with the cabinet on the floor and the speaker not aimed at my head. I played for a few minutes and when I stopped, the ringing in my ears was louder. I rested again for a week, the ringing having dropped significantly, I made the same experiment today, that lead to the same results; even by playing at a low volume for just a few minutes, the ringing got significantly higher. This is all very discouraging, as I understand that the ringing won’t disappear nor diminish. I can accept the idea of having a constant noise and deal with it, but it’s hard for me to admit that I won’t eventually be able to play electric again. What about you: do you still play/monitor/mix with amplified sounds and if so, does it increase the ringing noise thereafter ? Do the earplugs diminish the perception of the music you listen to ? Cheers from France, Rene
Thanks so much. My daughter developed tinnitus after getting Covid! It’s been over a year. I’ll pass this video on to her ASAP! You’re a kind guy to post this! You’re awesome!!!!

DAMN DUDE! The entire time watching this i have tinnitus and that little fuzzy/ white noise COMPLETELY diminished it 😊 actually so thoughtful of you man! I feel bad for having to admit this but I got tinnitus from first off not wearing ear protection at a factory because im STUPID and literally thought "im young ear damage is for old people" 🤪 but then the thing that really set it in motion was one day I did cocaine by myself and the ringing got SOOOO bad my entire body went into shock. Had that ringing/ panicked feeling for 3-4 days straight and then FINALLY.. it was completely gone. To the point where even if i thought about it it wouldn't come back (which is always my biggest problem) so now that 2 years have passed, ive been a little careless once again, playing music really loudly in my left ear (because i use earbuds to record and like to have one ear budless so i can hear myself rap/ sing) so now the left ear is ringing again. The good news is its not shifting pitch/ intensity it just a little buzz. im not exaggerating when i say when i first had it it was one of the scariest periods of my life. Legit thought it was a sign i waa going to go deaf so the panic was UNREAL. Needless to say I quit the coke and wear ear protection on EVERY job site from now on

Playing grand pianos continuously in small rooms did it to me, I think. And, I agree, I started using ear plugs every time I would go into a loud environment; I think it helped to minimize the progression. And I agree about having multiple sets of ear plugs. And figure out a backup plan. Can you stuff wadded-up paper napkin into your ear? Is there something else that can work in a pinch? Have a backup.
Hi there. I have actually worked with professional musicians that often do that very thing of using napkin paper in their ears. I haven’t tried myself so I can’t recommend it . I have no idea the level of attenuation you might get. But there are musicians that do that. But a back up pair of ear plugs is probably the better solution.
Trust Jack - you will be able to ignor it - hang in there - i didn't think so, but after a while of using some masking - liek fans and stuff - i've gradually stopped thinking about it. may God heal you. m
before watching the video it was better for me, now it is worse. What you say is true. „Tinitus, tinnitus… There is some spike someday and if we focus on it it stays“
Thanks Jack.. I’m going through a pretty bad bout currently. And I play music for a living. I thought of hanging it up and moving on to a different profession but I’m not going to let it beat me. I just currently purchased high end in ear monitors and will be playing my gigs at a much lower volume than before. I must tell you, for a bit I really thought I was going nuts and didn’t think I could go on. Watching your video and seeing all of the comments from others suffering brought me great comfort. Be well my friend. And again. Thanks you! Hopefully the day will come where there is a cure. 🙏🙏 Ed
Thank you Jack! As a musician, I can relate to everything that you said and I found your advice both helpful and inspirational. You probably address this in your other videos, but the only thing I might add is that learning more about one’s health and diet is very helpful - at least for me it is. Cutting back on caffeine, sugar and alcohol is, I think, essential - if it’s good for the body, it’s good for dealing with a spike. Lower the stress and don’t obsess is my mantra. So please do continue to make these wonderful videos and again, thank you!
Hello Ian. Thank you for the kind comment. Yes I do address some of the things you mention in a video called 6 daily rituals. I also talk about it in my T books mentioning that feeling good in the body makes me feel stronger to deal with T. Thanks again and happy new year
my tinnitus started in dec and my anxiety went through the roof. my family made it seem like i was overdoing it. i went to my dr and he sent me to an ent which said its not due to losing hearing so there is nothing for him to do. at that point i felt helpless. i wonder how i can live wt it. i went back to my dr and he was no help. then i we to an old family dr and he prescribed drugs which i didnt take. i started to use youtube masking sounds which gave me peace. after 1-2 months my tinnitus went down to 10% of what it was. my brain was starting to reduce the sound. remember tinnitus is yr brain telling u abt a new noise after a while it started to die down. yr body makes many many noises but yr brain know to mute it since it knows what it is. tinnitus is yr brain temporarily tell u abt a new noise then it dies it down. im around 5% tinnitus now and i dont notice it or hear it until i go to bed. and only if i press my ear to the pillow. before sleeping was difficult. the masking videos saved me. reduced my anxiety. suicidal thoughts which i had never had. the despair went away. my life is back to normal

Thank you, Jack, for your encouraging words. My tinnitus, which till 3 days ago was an intermittent thing, suddenly became a 24-hour ringing. I was scared and felt a bit lost. I have had vertigo, and am also a quadruple heart bypass patient (2016). Lots of things have been going through my mind the last 3 days, and I've tried a few things so far. None has worked. I am almost at the point of despair, having tried to live a healthy life of meditation and exercise, and clean diet. To get something like tinnitus is quite discouraging. I am trying to hold back myself from falling into depression. Your video and what you say in it are a wake-up call to me - to not let it get me down, and to continue to live life. I will continue to look for ways to help lighten the effects of tinnitus, but won't let it get me down again. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am glad I found your video. Take care. I have reactive tinnitus & hyperacusis. I use to be able to play the piano for hours at a time. Now the only way I can play is with making sure not to use the sustain pedal & playing softly even with use of soft pedal. I can only play for on average 15 min at time & usually per day. I have to use keyboard more often where I can control the volume & be careful not play forte. It's a challenge. My sleep has been affected to where I need prescription pills now in order to sleep at night.
Great video. Fellow musician here. I’ve had tinnitus for almost 20 years and it can be a very wild ride. Great advice here. I cannot stress enough, get those earplugs out at gigs folks.

Man thanks for the video, I couldn't relate more, same happened to me, I didn't pay much attention to the first signals of tinnitus as a musician I went to a gig with no protection and my tinnitus got really worse, that was the biggest mistake of all my life.

Hi Jack, what about if playing the guitar even at a low volume level is triggering the tinnitus so badly that the tinnitussound gets 3 times as bad ( volume ) for weeks? I mean, I do have tinnitus for 12 years now and hyperacusis, don't know what to do anymore other than quit playing, even at home either electric or acoustic. Oh man, it's so bad to realize having to quit my passion which is playing guitars, allready all my life, except the last 12 years. If I don't play for months the tinnitus is calming down, but than again one attempt to play the electric guitar even at a very low level ( at home like an acoustic level ) is triggering the tinnitus so badly. It's like certain frequencies are ruined in my middle ear and they never get back anymore. So whenever I quit, even for months the sensitivity stays the same and immediatly the tinnitus is getting worse after short guitar playing. I even tried wearing earplugs, but nothing helps. So what else can I do , other than quitting my passion? I mean, 10 minutes of guitar playing is not worth getting sleapless nights and screeming tinnitusbeep all day long . It's just killing.
Hey, thanks, Jack, for the encouragement. I'm 58 and the tinnitus started a couple months ago, I know not why. My life had become so much better. A good marriage, plenty of money and now a sound like locusts in a tree 24/7.
Hello Jeffrey. Sorry to hear that you are going through this. Its important to remember that with time your brain will adapt and accommodate for the new sound. Just takes a little time. I have a book on Amazon with lots of useful tools in that might help. Its called Overcoming Tinnitus. Jack
I have tinnitus since 2012. Listening to loud music caused hyperacusis and very loud tinnitus. Wish I had never been a music lover. I know use ear muffs to bear the normal sound.
I have struggled with constant tinnitus for about 11 years now and it never bothered me as much as it does now, I'm not sure what happened but it is so high-pitched and loud and makes it really hard to focus on anything or anyone. I feel like I'm going mad. I keep Putting my hand on my ear and praying that it will go away or at least not be as loud like before. For some reason it's just overpowering everything. I'll try everything you said but I just feel so hopeless right now.
Stay strong . T goes up and down as you probably already know. Every time I go through a bad spell I always remind myself that it’s got better for me. Best wishes from Norway 🇳🇴👋

Hi Everyone, I had it due to eustachian tube dysfunction, I folloowed Liam Boehm advice on youtube, and now it has gone away from my head and keft year. So 99% gone. Tinnitus can go away but you need to avoid the cause, it is a matter of time and once its gone you can continue your life. Also food is also a big factor
@@crawltochina Hi, if you have tinnitus you can cure it, 100% it is a symptom of inflammation in the brain. I am a medical student so I when I saw Liam Boehms video, his approach to healing made sense. So I literally stopped eating all forms of sugar and limited it to eating baked potato around 3 times a day, organic beef liver, a little every day and which is very dense in nutrients such as B vitamin groups. I drank at least two bottles of bottled water not tap water, stopped eating fruit and mainly, chicken, meat and fish and absolutely nothing else. Coffee, chocolates, pasta, spices are big triggers. I also fasted around 3 times a week, sleeping around 10pm which made a huge difference, limited T.V only few hours a day, exercised every day. I noticed results very quickly. My eustachaina tube dysfunction was actually caused by MCAS which was triggered by COVID vaccine. Another factor is strees, shouting, watching movies that cause rise in cotisol also affect it. I also developed hypercusis which has now completely gone to. A few people I met happened to have it longer than me, who had it for 5 years so they took my advice and their tinnitus is 95% gone. So lifestyle is a huge factor in healing and yes just like type 2 diabetes which can be cured through diet so can Tinnitus. Hope this helps.
I have tinnitus and hyperacusis. It is debilitating and I have considered suicide numerous times because of the pain it inflicts. Thank you for this video, it was eye opening.
Great video! I haven’t told any of my musician fellows about my T and hyoeracussis. Some just thinks I’m weirdo using this earbuds every time I hear little bit of loud sounds. Also helps keeping it optimistic. I really know someday it will get better and go away. No doubt about it. And my brain relaxes. Negativity and obsessing about it is not good.

With one in five U.S. teens currently experiencing permanent hearing loss from noise by the age of 19, it's critical that we get the word out about tinnitus and other types of preventable hearing damage. Thank you for your efforts to reach out and help others learn the importance of protecting their hearing.
Thank you
Thank you so much, man, i have tinnitus like 3 years already, i'm multi instrumentalist and composer, its began when i was 27 (now im 30) and i was god why, im so young for this s6it, but there's nothing to do, this video really encouraged me( i immediately found the app and seems like it helps) also i was told by the doctors that hearing aids could help with that, but at the same time as long as i research, there's so many people dealing with tinnitus without hearing aids(for instance - Sting that having that problem, for my joy, i not joying that someone suffering, i joying that i'm not alone here) Thanks again! Im gonna check your music
Even me but I just compose
As someone who has recently started suffering from Tinnitus, I find this video very comforting 🙏

I have -10, -12 and -15 moulded earplugs + one in my car. and another thing to say is, every few years you need to re-do the moulds as the material deteriorates so they have a limited shelf life - but it's THE best thing you can do for your ears
I´ve developed tinnitus from attending two concerts in a row with molded plugs that were 10y+, don´t make the same mistake as I did!
He cured my tinnitus effectively with his supplements thanks so much Doc
Youtu.be/ibEgU-dFpDE
Mine started around 2ó14 and it have been hard

Hello Vassilis. Really glad this video was of help to you .
I promise!

Cheers from France, Rene
reactive tinnitus. And maybe tinnitus mixed with some level of hyperacusis

Thank you Jack! As a musician, I can relate to everything that you said and I found your advice both helpful and inspirational. You probably address this in your other videos, but the only thing I might add is that learning more about one’s health and diet is very helpful - at least for me it is. Take care. Thanks, again.
Hello Andrew. Thank you for the comment. I’m sorry you been having some struggles with your ears. I know it can be difficult but it does slowly getting better and better in so much as your mind slowly adapts. That’s how it’s been for me. It takes time but it does get better. Stay strong and Sending the very best of wishes. 👍
How are you now?
As well as Meds for Anxiety which do Work!☆☆♡♡♡
I have reactive tinnitus & hyperacusis.
Well said brother. This video helped me alot. I appreciate the wise words Jack!
Great video. Fellow musician here. I’ve had tinnitus for almost 20 years and it can be a very wild ride. Great advice here. I cannot stress enough, get those earplugs out at gigs folks.
Absolutely man . Ear plugs keep me in the game . It’s that simple 👍

Great man!

Thanks for your advice. Im from Colombia
Sorry you are having trouble with your ears .
you are the best love your videos you have help me so much with my tinnitus more than any Doctors thank you so much keep up the good work
Thank you. Glad the video was of use.
@@jackrubinacci_official I started going to the Sound Relief Hearing Center and it's only been 2 weeks and it's working so well! I thought I was gonna go mad. Thank you for all your wonderful inspiring videos, I love listening to them while doing my Sound Relief Therapy!
@@ET-jc9kh thank you for your comment and I’m glad you are finding relief with sound therapy - that’s fantastic and well done for being proactive. Best wishes
Thank you. I haven’t been thinking about T and thought it went away but apparently I just didn’t think about it.
That’s great 👍
Thanks for your tips, Jack. I’m not a musician and I’m a few months into this. Hope we get better soon.
Hey Jude. Thanks for the message. The most important thing is to stay strong brother . It will get better. Just give it time

But thank you for your work and advices Jack ♥️

For people with Tinnitus try Ginkgo Biloba extracts it helped with my tinnitus, it lowered down at the same time clams me down. It works for me
How long until you began to notice results?
Hi Everyone, I had it due to eustachian tube dysfunction, I folloowed Liam Boehm advice on youtube, and now it has gone away from my head and keft year. So 99% gone. Tinnitus can go away but you need to avoid the cause, it is a matter of time and once its gone you can continue your life. Also food is also a big factor
What exactly did you do?
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you
Thankyou so much for all your help it's brilliant to hear this
Thank you 🙏
I have tinnitus and hyperacusis. It is debilitating and I have considered suicide numerous times because of the pain it inflicts. Thank you for this video, it was eye opening.
Sorry to hear you been having problems with your ears. I hope this video was useful . Sending you best wishes ⭐️
Same issues, but don’t let this get your down. FIGHT IT! FIGHT IT! It will get better I promise.
Hello Luiggi. Staying strong and staying optimistic is absolutely vital. It always gets better . You have to remember that. Best of luck 🤞
use always earplugs when its loud. sometimes I forget that and pay a huge price
