I appreciate your efforts to bring Christmas to every part of the world...love is the overriding commandment. Christmas is love and more...

My grandfather was stationed in Austria after World War II, he said it was one of the finest times of his life. He said it was the most beautiful place he had ever been there at the base of the Alps. He told the people were well read, the food and conversation were great. He said on Saturday nights it would snow and the people would gather in the squares around fire barrels and eat kraut and weenies, drink beer from steins, and sing and dance. He told me it felt like a real civilization. It stayed with him the rest of his life.

The festive swirl of heartwarming sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas abound in the land where “Silent Night,” was first performed: blog.ricksteves.com/blog/rick-steves-european-christmas-stille-nacht-heilige-nacht-in-austria/

Their Christmas celebrations are very beautiful! I want to go there on Christmas! Where I live it's hard to really get in the Christmas spirit, because it's 80 degrees on Christmas morning. No snow, ever! It's so lovely there, and I didn't know that is where Silent Night was first sung! That's so cool!

Thank you for sharing , I really enjoyed watching your film . The country looks so beautiful , with a fairy-tale quality . Are the people usually so restrained in their demeanour ? Perhaps they were camera shy !

We're a group of 14-15 year old Austrian students and we think this video doesn't really represent Austrian Christmas as we celebrate it. It only shows what people overseas would love to see. We don't wear 'Dirndl and leather trousers for christmas. We do sing beautiful carols but we also enjoy the fun and drink mulled wine at beautifully lit christmas market. Please upload a modern version of Austrian Christmas!

If you Austrian students keep going around destroying the vision of Christmas that we foreigners have of your country, you'll end up getting a visit from Krampus.

Bei acht Millionen Österreichern wird Weihnachten wohl auf unterschiedliche Arten gefeiert werden. Vor allem am Land sind Trachten zu besonderen Anlässen nicht unüblich.

Every Austrian celebrates differently. Keep in mind Salzburg, Feldkirch and a few other towns are uniquely conservative religiously and typically traditional in their approach. Diversity within Austria is tremendous. There are more Slavic traditions in Graz, for example.

I dont know where you live but for me it totally represents the austrian christmas. Its exactly how we celebrate it and our neighbours and all others in the area.

Speaking of which, I saw the whole program and it makes me awful nervous to see little kids around open flames all around the house. The table wreath, Christmas tree, etc. Live flames on a tree full of sap with little ones all around. Always a great idea.

Salzburg is not in Tyrol, but in the State of Salzburg, so they are not Tyroleans. Otherwise, lovely video.
