    Not too shabby! It's my first time hearing this one as well and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Hell, I didn't even know Body Count covered it! Respect for even attempting this one and they definitely did it justice! 🤘🤘🤘

      He also needs to research the history of body count & see the national crisis they caused with the song Cop Killer where actual cops had a bounty on Ice Ts cool ass & home boy ain't never had a single security gaurd either ,then after Body Counts Cop Killer started to die down Ice hit em again with the song " Last Breath " talking about a black gang member killing a family's kids with a rusty blade before he robbed they house just because the gang banger he wrote about was a monster who killed all witnesses .

    Not just his friend, Ice-T is a huuuuge metal fan. Body count isn't just some favour for a friend, it's him bringing out his love for metal too. Oh and also, the part at the end which wasn't there in Slayer's version is actually the second part of the song *before* Raining Blood (Postmortem) in the actual album

    If you liked "Raining in blood", you'd love "Black Hoodie". An incredible song, the riff, the transitions, everything. Without doubt, one of the best songs by Body Count. And, as a Hip-Hop Head, you should listen too "New Jack Hustler", fron the time when Ice-T did gangsta rap, not rap-metal. The composition of that song is great, and in it you can hear the most precise Ice-T rapping ever. He marks the rhythms simply perfect, advances syllables or delays them in the moments in which it is best. He does with his voice what many drummers are not able to do with their drums.

    The bit at the tail end of this is a part from slayers Postmortem which is the song they play as kind of an intro to raining blood. You'd probably enjoy black hoodie by body count. They even collaborated with Max Cavalera, vocalist from metal band Sepultura on the song All love is lost.

    I used to work in a rock bar and on weekends the place had live bands. Bodycount was one of them. I was happy to meet Ice T. While the opening band was on he came and sat at my bar. The place had 4 bars and mine was the only one in a different room where it was more quiet. Slow night for me cause the crowd was in the main room where the dance floor and stage was. ICE T was so nice. Nobody else was at my bar and he just ordered a drink and made conversation. We chatted for about half hour, then he had to go get ready for his set. He was so nice, respectful, smart, and kind. He went to pay for his drink, and I told him not to, it is my treat. He thanked me and left. I turned away to clean the bar, and when I looked there was money left. He left me $200! I tried to find him to give it back, but he was walking up on stage. Some celebrities do appreciate everyday people!

    YES! I was so into Body Count when they came around cause I was always an Ice T fan from way back. That second vocalist was VERY much doing his singing in the style of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. You should check out FIRE FROM THE GODS - "EXCUSE ME" They are a hip hop oriented metal band with a GREAT front man. Love we are on this journey together bruv.

  • @FatFredyFreak

    OG Body Count There Goes the Neighborhood, Cop Killer, lot slower than this but great tunes. There was a whole controversy when they dropped their first album, Cop Killer, stores pulling it off shelves and shit, it was crazy.
    PS
    Make sure you hear the uncut versions, SO much better!

    • @tongbb3
      @tongbb3 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FatFredyFreak Actually, it was Ice-T's decision to pull the song from the shelves and he chose to give away 45s of it instead.

      Same here i actually had the "Body Count" album IN TAPE!!!
      I've been a metal head since i was 13-14 years old and still am 35 years later, but also dabbled in the gangsta rap genre in the 90's early 2000's so yeah...
      Hadn' t heard that song from them and yeah it's impressive as hell!
      About doing Taylor Switf's "Blank space by "I Prevail"? My guess is you will lose your sh!t!
      That song cover got them on the map and kickstarted their career!

  • @RyanFGNM
    @RyanFGNM 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think what makes this version sound better is you can understand it better. I'm thinking their recording equipment being way newer than when Slayer first put this song together helps. Plus Ice T has a tendency to be very precise with his vocals.

    Even despite being into heavy music growing up, I always have big respect for some of the rap/hiphop pioneers.
    That's why I Love crossover tunes like Anthrax & Public Enemy with their track "Bring the Noise"

      Luke R Bleed is amazing in and of itself. I recommence also New Millenium Cyanide Christ too. First for the fudged up lyrics, second for the video 'cause it's hilarious. And finally for the cover Rob Scallon made with a shovel (yes, you read that right).

    These guys were slightly notorious in the 90's for a song on their debut. It has since been removed, and it was called "Cop Killer". Now,thirty years since then, and two years after this video, many more people are saying the phrase 'Ice T's metal band' because they're up for Best Metal Performance at the Grammys. And I'm willing to bet the award ceremony won't be broadcast as part of the filmed event, because the mainstream music industry still doesn't like metal even 50 years on.

    YO. Ice-T made an interesting suggestion : Suicidal Tendencies. This band is dope af. I suggest you react to a song among those three : You Can't Bring Me Down, Gotta Kill Captain Stupid, or Possessed to Skate ('93). I saw you in my recommendations for a few weeks now but never rly cared, bc I've seen a few reactions by HipHop or pop/rnb fans. It just proved my opinion that those people just don't know enough about music in some way. When I started watching your Metal reactions I changed mind. You're one unbiased and very smart dude. I like how you're breaking down the lyrics and talk about the instruments and slowly getting into understanding this nice underrated genre. And I like how the metal reactions are blowing up compared your earlier stuff. Take care and all the best for you. Also I've seen some people requesting Doomsday by Architects. It's absolutely worth it and you'll get to know a new genre of Metal which you haven't touched yet. Peace

    Wondered when this would happen! It's well worth checking out their other stuff. It generally ranges from very tongue in cheek (like their cover of Institutionalised, which is fucking hillarious) to super serious (like Black Hoodie, No Lives Matter), at which point they get super intense.
    Honestly they've gotta be one of the heaviest bands around right now in both their tone as well as their lyrical content. They're super underappreciated but they seem to be getting a lot more attention since their last album released!
