This will be the first recipe on my newly purchased GF. I have already added some of the GF tips from your other videos. Thank you so much for the passion and selfless effort you have put into this channel, it has really become one of the goto channels for my homebrew journey.
It’s fascinating to see your early videos. You’ve really honed your YT video skills enormously over the years. This one is still informative and relevant. And historical since this was the introduction of the now-famous sink strainer. I’ve never seen this syrup in my area (BC, Canada) but we may have something similar. Incidentally, according to the internet, it’s called Lyles, not Lyons, but you can be forgiven since there’s a picture of a lyon on the label. Cheers David.
Thanks :) Yes I watch the odd one for some nostalgia from time to time! Yes the sink strainer even ended up a GF product but with not even an acknowledgement! Yes the Lyles is the same stuff. Different branding for different markets. 🍻
Thanks for the video David. I’m brewing this at the weekend. Slightly worried about the amount of crystal and chocolate malt in there. I couldn’t match the exact malts so mine is looking slightly darker at 37ECB. Is it far to say this will be similar to something like Hobgoblin?
Not exactly Hobgoblin, I have another video for that but in all honesty this most people prefer, it is very classic ESB. I am sure this darker version will be good also :)
Was thinking the strainer, seen this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless-Steel-Round-Loose-Tea-Infuser-teapot-Filter-Strainer-Sieve-Cup-Mug-/262021032832?hash=item3d01abab80:g:utMAAOSwd0BVr0ch
(Think I've answered my own question :-) had a compressed/solidified mash the other day and think my pump got full of grain from it overflowing, Also noticed the rubber bung on the filter can easily be knocked off when stirring
