    Thanks for the info! I just received a Model 1 for my C2 Rowerg and looking forward to trying it out in the next few days. I'm a 79 yo retired airline pilot that has just been rowing for a couple of years on a ShareVgo rower, and just a few months on my C2 Rowerg. I appreciate your videos!

    I bought the 2K Fit Rowing Machine Seat Cushion (Model 2) for my Concept 2 Rowing Machine on your recommendation. Thank you!! It makes a HUGE improvement in comfort and a noticeable increase in the quality of my workout.

    Hey (Training Tall) I would like to thank you for your videos. Recently my rowing coach has used your video on how to row and recommended them to the team, and they have very much helped out.
    Thank you once again,

    Hi - wondering if you also tried the 2K Fit Model 3 cushion. It looks like it is between the Model 1 and 3. Wondering if the foam is better than denser gel of the Model 3 cushion. Thank you!

    Helpful advice! I recently got my hands on a second-hand Concept 2 rowing machine. I’m on the lookout for a handy accessory or trick that can help me keep the rowing machine’s chain in good condition. Any recommendations from you all?

      you shouldn't need to do much. Just a light wipe with mineral oil or '3 in 1' oil every once in a while, using a piece of low-lint shoprag.

    Hey Austin! Hopefully you see this. I’m wondering if you could assist. I’m fairly new to rowing and LOVING it! For someone who dislikes most strength training, but whose knees won’t tolerate running anymore, this is the best workout! I’m doing all my rowing at the gym on the C2 (saving up for my own), but I’m struggling with one thing. I have the opposite problem you do with height. I’m short (5’4”, and small feet). My torso can’t hinge to 11o’clock in the catch because I can’t clear my knees without lifting most of my foot. obviously this slows my drive. Do you think the taller seat pad would help with that? Or maybe another solution? I’m starting slow to perfect my form, but struggling with this.

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      many people have their feet set a tad too high on the C2. If you adjust the foot things to bring your heels a bit closer to the floor, you'll likely notice some immediate improvement. The pads help a bit with that also, essentially raising you up a little bit relative to the feet. When feet are too high, the knees and thighs get in the way of optimal leg usage.

    How much would you pay for a 1999 Concept 2 with a PM2 and extremely low meters? Listed for 640. I was thinking it is closer to $350-400 as it will need a new monitor. Thanks!

  • @ajillihardy6829
    @ajillihardy6829 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Austin! I have long femurs and a short torso, so having those extra few inches of seat height is enormously helpful at the catch.
    I find it harder to keep my heels down at the finish, however. The C2 rowerg does not allow us to adjust the angle of the footplates. For me, that fixed angle is a bit too steep, especially when I raise my booty a few inches with a butt pad. I can keep my toes connected at the finish, but my heels lift.
    Do you have any suggestions for how to address this? I feel like I can either be in a proper position at the catch or maintain connection at the finish, but not both at the same time.
    In case it helps, I've been rowing for 27 years.

    I currently use a hornet water sports thin pad and cycling shorts. Recently did a 100k - they work well together (so long as you get cycling shorts with a wide pad and that aren’t too tight) but I still have to stand for a minute after 90 mins or so. Maybe the thick pad here would help? Plus I’d love your view on the Citius Remex. Thanks for all the videos!

    The problem is memory foam quite quickly suffers from denting that you Cannot get out, so would probably be good for a short time but not long term.

  • @Nomads_Rowing
    @Nomads_Rowing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sure, if you’re infirm or restricted in some way with flexibility, a seat pad makes sense otherwise you have a technique issue somewhere like not sitting up on your butt correctly or poor core leading to slumping on the finish . Speaking from my perspective, the more time you spend on the ergo the butt discomfort is negligible and only noticeable on 60min or longer pieces. Certainly wouldn’t use on high rate sprints 😎

    • @trainingtall
      @trainingtall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not high sprints for sure! I think these seat pads help the most for overweight individuals using rowing for weight loss and general fitness - which is most of the rowing machine-owning population!

  • @kirkshammett94
    @kirkshammett94 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got a rower today I purchased it for highly intense cardio because I’m coming from cycling. I used it today and no matter how hard I went I couldn’t even get my heart rate above 130. Is this normal or should I just choose another machine

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it a c2? if so, you probably need to adjust the drag factor, to around 130. And you should watch his vids on rowing form. But if you do some sprints, you should be able to get the heart rate above 130 with no problem.

    Most of the seat pads I've seen seem to be designed to fit the Concept2. Are you aware of any seat pads that will fit the Aviron? The raised part in the back of the seat seems like it would make it difficult to find a seat pad that will fit.

    I’m an old guy that rows 20k on a concept2 five or six days per week.
    I use both the thin pad and Y2K together, shimmy a lot and still need to get up after about 15k to get the numbness out of my butt lol.
    Highly recommend pads.

    Why not take a thick towel--which you can wash every few days and dry out between rows--and fold and use as a seat pad...especially if the model 2 (thick one) is going to absorb ass sweat, as you so articulately described??

    I find bibless cycling shorts are great and get thrown in the wash as usual... if you have Decathlon sports stores where you are then they would be a great choice - i had some DeSoto shorts anyway from cycling which are pricey but great.

    I was so happy to see you use the chunky seat pad successfully on the waterrower, as most seats for Concept rowers are much too big. I've been looking for a pad to give me a bit of extra hight for a better reach, but 2k seem to only be available in the US. Import costs to the UK would be stupid.The official waterrower seat is only 2cm thick, so I haven't bothered with it - looks like the butt shuffling will continue 😩
