A lot of people don't respect the first entry because of the flawed battle system. Truth is, the first Hyperdimension game truly was a work of art. This game series deserves far more attention than it gets...

+cactuar2 I'm playing this game for the first time. It's alright. not too much a fan of the exploration and stuff. The battle system is not too bad.

It's true the series really is underrated. I love Hyperdimension Neptunia with all of my heart and it became a big part of my life. I bought a ps3 just to play the originals because of the changes. Yes the first wasn't the best it dissapointed me a bit but i don't regret playing it. Hyperdimension Neptunia is great.

In my opinion they should have kept the game in development for a few more months until the combat system was properly made the combat system was so shit that the AI would focus combat over healing even though they were programmed to heal via the command setting this flaw caused a lot of resets of certain boss fights instead of letting the AI Control everything via combat they should have made the command setting like they had in Hyperdimension Neptunia Mark 2 were you had full control over each character other than that the game was a diamond in the rough a really good game they just should have kept the game in development for a few more months until it was properly completed to me it just felt a little bit rushed

There's a boss theme I really want that takes place in the "How Dare you Noob Goddess" boss conquest mission that I just CAN'T find

This game doesn't have many really good tracks to be fair, so when a unique theme like this plays you automatically go into awesome mode xD

    Let me be honest.
I'll take you through some history.
Original is best. Even though the difficulty spike with it's horrible battle system was so bad that they remade all the games with a better system. (Dam, that's bad.)
The art is SO different. Before Mk2 attracted fans with underage sister characters and fanservice galore, this had an art style which I say is a tiny bit similar to persona's. Faces and such were not as stock, copy and paste like other games. The music was extremely not memorable, as most of it was re-used again and again for battles.
Everyone, (sadly) hated the game as they said "It takes itself too seriously."
And SEGA was even helping them.
Mk2 came along, being an EXTREME counter-part.
This game does not take anything seriously at all.
It was the HDN game with the most fanservice and IFI. said there was much additions replaced and taken out, otherwise the game would be rated A. However, this introduced us to the first actual serious story split, with the bad ending. The whole game's soundtrack was build from the ground up, and they had new fans joining along. This was the last game NISA helped with.
Victory, honestly... felt like an extension of Mk2. They ended up repeating things alot. And the battle system was still garbage, by the way. It was an overly extended game. However, it was bringing fans from the first HDN game back to the series... after their little "stunt" with Mk2.
In this small amount of time, Idea Factory published the last PS3 game they would make, before changing Hyperdimension Neptunia's console games for the absolute better.
The last PS3 game they made was called Fairy Fencer F, which was a engine for newer games built from the ground up.
That one game created the game preset engine for Megadimension Neptunia VII.
Megadimension was the best of both worlds. You have serious storyline, Fanservice and comedy combined into one. Battle system was adapted by the Re;Birth Remakes. Graphics and frame-rates were an overachiever for a company like IF. It's a major favorite upon all HDN fans.
