    I can't wait to try this! Just a tip for anyone who ends up with a balm that's a little too greasy for your liking add arrowroot powder. I would start with 1/2 teaspoon and go from there. I use it in my body butter, it's an awesome addition to absorb the greasiness and its natural.

      I love Arrow Root Powder. I use it my beard balms and lotiom bars. I also find if you equal out the light and heavy oils, it helps too. I like to use a combination of each. It keeps everything balanced and my balms are silky.

    Nice video. One suggestion and one question. Here's a suggestion that will make you're life easier. Get yourself a pyrex measuring cup, it has a spout for easy pouring. Question: have you experimented with the result of the balm with the changing factor being heat? My first time making it yesterday and I watched another guy make it and he had a hot plate and you used your stove. The melt point is so low that you really don't need either one. I ran some water through my coffee maker, poured it in a larger pyrex measuring cup, sat the smaller one inside with formed a perfect seal and I went and did other stuff and in 15mins it was fully melted. I had to do some quick thinking because there's no room in my apartment for a hot plate and it was 95 degrees today. No way I was turning on the stove. Both seem like overkill anyway.

      It’s coolest at the top of the open tin as it starts to change to a solid property after stirring. Once you put it in fridge entire tin of balm will form same consistency! Thanks for asking

  • @bobhuntington7839

    Hello. Great video. Two corrections, though. At first you said "teaspoon," and then you kept saying "tablespoon." Did you mean tablespoon the whole time? And, you said to put it in the "refrigerator," and then you said "freezer!" You don't want that product frozen solid, do you?

      Glad you like video! I put the links for everything in the description box with exception of the beeswax which I I pick up in the bulk bin at local health food store (Sprouts/Wholefoods). Typically online is cheapest...especially with the Shea butter. If you wanted to go cheaper only use 1 carrier oil instead of 4 like I did...you can use cheaper option like Almond Oil or Grapeseed oil.

    That was an entertaining demo showing "how to" create a great beard balm. The Bergamot and Lime would make an especially nice beard scent. I enjoy those flavors in tea. My favorite is a steaming cup Earl Grey along with a good winter smoke of Carter Hall or Haunted Bookshop. Take care and stay warm.

      Thanks for response! Lanolin is very syrup like so it will be interesting to what it does for the overall strength of the hold. I have noticed that Castor is very similar to jojoba and hemp aids a bit of color lol. No almond oil for me...my 5 year old has a severe peanut allergy :(.

    • @DocBravo
      @DocBravo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used 2 Tsp of beeswax...for extra curly/stronger hold, add another 1 Tsp of the beeswax and cut 1/2 the coconut oil (or don't use coconut base at all). One of my first mixes was super heavy on the beeswax 'hold' so you almost had to melt it with the blowdryer prior to use like a pomade. It may take 1 or 2 tries to make it to your preference but your on the right track.

    Get yourself a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup to use as your double boil. It's much easier than using a bowl, you have a handle and a pour spout. These units also work good for a double boiler from amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VNFHTM8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Sad smiley beard balm ☹️ Dude, I buy my beard oil because I am too lazy to do it myself, but it looks really amazing.

      Thanks hector! I never made my own oils, only balms and eventually stopped using oils alone. What scents do you typically buy for your beard oils?
