Hello. First of all, thanks for the movie. In Poland, a large number of people use QualDrop with great success. It's nice that you test different products. You will draw conclusions yourself whether a given product will stay longer in your farm. Regards
Your video editing skills are getting on point, love the fact that you now mention on screen the tank size, etc. Another great video, keep inspiring! ❤️
Thanks. glad you liked it! I just got tired to answer the same question over and over again and people always ask me 'what's the tank size?' if I don't mention it so I learned it this way😊
i'm a fan from Singapore! Love your tutorial videos, straight forward and easy to understand! Just decommissioned my 3neocaridina tanks and wants to switch to sulawesi shrimps! Hope to learn from you before i start my setup!
Thank you! I have zero experience with Sulawesi shrimp I think you better watch some other TH-camrs as well who have some experience with that shrimp, I'm afraid I can't help you much.
great video! love the coffee smelling powders! although i don't like drinking coffee, it smells nice! love that you're testing the products and showing us the results so we can pick easier which ones to use. keep up the great work!
Hi, thank you for all the videos, really learn a lot. I just wanted to know what water did you use on your first fill? Pure RO water with 0 tds or mineralized RO? Also, what you use to mineralize your water?
Hey Kyle, Thanks for watching. If you look closely, I've made the filter myself this time with the glass partition you only need to buy ugf plate and it cost 14 bucks on amazon. Here is the link - www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Equip-Undergravel-Filter-Gravel/dp/B06ZYL2CYH
@@ShrimpMania thanks! I saw you were able to construct it in the tank. My only issue is glass, by the time I invest in the glass and the underground filter it’s well over $30 per filter.
@@PoseidonsPets I cut it from the piece I've got from an old window. Just try one with ADA when you reset your new tank you going to like it and it is worth the money
Great video as always . I only use qualdrop products ada Amazonia. I wouldn’t use anything else. Been very successful with these products. But very interested to see your results for other products
Hi Leon, thanks for the great video! I'm currently getting all the bits ready to set up a new Caridina tank and I was wondering if using Bacter AE alone as the bacterial powder for setting up and cycling is enough? I have Seachem Stability too, but will Bacter AE alone produce good results in terms of biofilm but also the important nitrifying bacteria? I'm finding it hard and/or expensive to get powders from sellers like Shrimp Affair so I was wondering if you thought Bacter AE is a good substitute? Cheers!
Hey, thanks for kind words. I honestly never used bacter ae to cycle my tanks but I heard some people had a good result. You can try if you dont have other options and i hope it will work
@@ShrimpMania Thanks for the reply :D I'm going to give it a go and hope it works! I saw your video when you made homemade bacterial powder with Bacter AE. How did that tank do in the end? Did you see the biofilm and dust algae you were hoping for? All the best
Yes its good idea for a small tank with not much surface area at the bottom otherwise for the larger tanks it's gonna difficult to keep it working. It needs lots of flow with few tubes to keep it running so this tank will use a lot of airflow plus a lot of soil I don't think it's worth it
Hi what do you think about ada amazonia ver 2(silver package with orange words)? I've been looking around for the original version but can't seem to find them anymore
Question! I've been keeping Caridina's for around 4 years and I've only ever used Sponge bubblers with media inside it. What's the point of the mesh inside the box of soil? Why is there no media for bacterial to grow on? Do you trust the bacteria to grow on the soil? I understand the sponge part because shrimp have a small bio load. Great video! I'm just now getting into the boxed soil method instead of sponge and I'd like to learn why people use that with the elevated mesh. Also is bacteria powder really required? I usually toss in some bio active media from my other tanks.
Hey, the soil in the filter works as a media it's a lot of the surface area doesn't need any extra for shrimp. Soil also releases all the minerals into the water much better in the ugf this is the main purpose of it.
These videos are amazing, I came back to see it again. You're an inspiration for me. Recently had a tragedy where I lost my new caradina while I was trying to acclimate them. 5 have survived, out of 14, hopefully I can get them breeding, they cost a lot here. I have a question, you prefer using ADA Amazonia I, have you ever tried akadama soil? From what I have heard it does not have nutrients so it will be easy to replace when it looses it's buffering capacity. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Also, if I am using SS minerals to re-mineralize ro-water, do I still need to use a shrimp mineral food? Do I need to use baby food? I have access to Shrimp King, and Glassgarten foods, which foods do you think I should get? Could you do a review on what commerical foods you would recommend for beginners?
I've used psbacter along side magic powder myself, mastersoil for substrate, lots of biofilm already and it's only day 3! Thanks for sharing curious to see how yours developed with amazonia as we have started these at the same time 😊
Ive set up several new tanks for caridina over the summer and tried out various bacteria powders and soils, but so far ive had the best success with SL Aqua Magic Powder and either ADA Amazonia II and Fluval Stratum substrates. Magic Powder creates CRAZY amounts of biofilm! its like some kind of witchcraft 🤣
By any change , u can Try vin storm products sir , it produce more bio film as well . I am using sl-aqua and vin products. Both brands give me quite positive results :)
Hi there, I’m new to your channels, and just getting back into tb shrimp, do you just use RO water when filling your tank, or do you use a remineraliser like salty shrimp, also do you have a link to your auto top up float valves , great videos I’m working through them all
Thanks! I use the water from the water change container yes it has some salts but before I've used pure RO water with the good result it doesn't matter. Link - th-cam.com/video/rYpvwaQt4Qg/w-d-xo.html
@@jaredlau1374 As its still cycling I'd do nothing. You could do a water change at 5 weeks but it just gives the bacteria somewhere to bloom into. I'm impatient so probably would do a water change

Is just the ugf filter enough or do you recommend a sponge filter as well?
You can add a sponge filter to polish the water

what is the lighting period during this new tank setup for dust algae growth
10-12h/day

Can you please tell me what height you make the small glass plate in front of the ugf?

What is sump box?
Hi what do you think about ada amazonia ver 2(silver package with orange words)? I've been looking around for the original version but can't seem to find them anymore
