I just purchased a bottle today. OMG, I didn't think I would like it because of the smoke and briny taste, but I actually like this 👍, $40 it's well worth it.
Seriously, my favorite whiskey. Especially Storm. My last birthday I got a 21-year old bottle of Glenfarclas AND a crazy-expensive bottle of The Yamasaki. I enjoyed both but kept thinking I'd rather be drinking Talisker Storm.
A friend of mine said that before 1980 Talisker used all local ingredients. The barley grown in that area never really ripened (latitude) so that was an aspect of earlier Taliskers - the green barley taste. When Diageo took over they of course wanted to keep the costs down so they now source barley from one source and distribute it to all their distilleries which means an important characteristic of Talisker is now lost. Really like your reviews.
It's funny, I didn't like this nearly as much as the 10 my first tasting. Each subsequent tasting I like it more now. Talisker is my favorite whisky. Great review as always.
Hi Horst, really appreciated your review of this scotch from TALISKER, just picked up a bottle at Costco in South Florida, it was 20 dollars off this week before Thanksgiving. I checked your review before but it. I am not a scotch conosure but I must admit it is one of my favorite single malts that I have ever tasted. Thank you again for helping me find my new go to scotch. Best regards Deni
Looking for a scotch just like this, but European oak instead. Please anyone with a recommendation if there is such a thing, or something close. Can even just be finished in Euro oak. Hardly any sherry or bourbon influence at all.
I thought it just taste like a more youthful Talisker 10. Not very impressive, and not much cheaper (if at all). Dark storm on the other hand is fantastic (but substantially more expensive than the 10).
Love your reviews i think they are great, but as far as rejuvenated casks go, in my experience they are far inferior to first fill or second fill bourbon. Just buy fresh new ex bourbon barrels Diageo what's wrong with you? You have more money than God himself at this point.
If you run a big company you always try to save money. And rejuvenating casks saves money. But if you use too many of those casks, you will bring too much of fresh oak into the whisky.
Thank you for deciphering the layers of this dram. Makes our purchasing decision so much easier! Very informative. Thanks.
Just picked up a bottle of Talisker Storm myself...finally! Thanks as always for the great video breaking down the Dram.

U may be happy to hear that Storm is on sale for 30bux this month.

A buddy and I recently reviewed Talisker 10 vs Storm. I loved both! I actually prefer the Storm, which was surprising! Great review, Horst!
Got it in the airport for a fair price, money well spent I may add. Incredible taste but hits you hard, one of my favorites.

Honestly the best sounding pour I've ever heard! lol
It is because of the neck design of the bottle. Always sounds like this especially when full

Sorry, not in the upcoming weeks. But I have the hope, that I will have a bottle late this year.
No 2nd sip ....not sure if you were impressed?
I'm really liking your "no non-sense" review. Thank you.
