This is not shame Toyota and done a great achievement this this is the most fuel efficient car in the world right now it's 1 almost 3000 Awards on luxury comfort quality and also looks looks of the car is amazing when driving my Prius it feels amazing how driving it feels it its I feel like I'm driving my old Mercedes Benz am it's so comfortable and better gas mileage by far my average is 70 miles per gallon my wife Prius she got 100 miles per gallon just last week Prius is awesome
@bro589 You've got to think about the not-so-obvious, bro589: when you're stopped at a signal or stop sign, your engine is just burning [wasting] gas. With a hybrid, the engine doesn't run [burn gas] unless it needs to in order to charge the battery, thus you get greatly improved mileage.
In USA, this car has many haters. But, in my country (Indonesia), this car is a luxury hybrid car, costs IDR 600++ million (around $48.100). That's expensive here.
Dear Toyota: I have noticed that further comments to the Prius. (Mr. Sikes) runaway boards have been blocked. I cannot make any comments contributory to many "Runaway Prius" boards and the last comments allowed were about 14-17 hours prior, therefore: this is evidence that those boards have been blocked. Why is this? Who is reponsible for this? If you have any information, please let us all know. This would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
@bro589 hi it is exactly like in the diesel electric locomotive , use the electric motors to propel and the combustion engine to produce power , you know the result , diesel electric ones wins against the steam and pure diesel with efficiency , power and speed. Because electric motors delivers all power from 0 rpm and can handle much more power for short times , few times more than nominal without problems, only losing some efficiency.
Way late but never the less. The hybrid battery will drain first while trying to run the car in cold weather before the engine has time to warm up draining the battery and then keeps running to now recharge the battery. Depending on speeds and geography you could end up with an engine non stop running. But one of the most overlooked problems is the 12 volt battery. Only lasts a couple of years and is almost never replaced. When 12 volt is bad or not charging properly can cause the prius to display many problems. The engine will work double time to try and keep recharging the 12 volt and the hybrid battery. Most mechanics think it's always the hybrid battery because of all the misinformation and myths. Some of these hybrid batteries last well into the 300k mile range without issues. When in doubt change the 12 volt out
If Toyota brings the price of the new Prius down compatibly to the price of the new 2010 Honda Insight, people will lineup at the dealerships like the ones at the Apple stores when 3g iPhone came out... :) Toyota, are you listening?
i still dont understand the point of burning fuel in order to charge a battery in order to propel the car. every non american educated person knows that when energy is transferred from one type to another ( gas to electricity), it is lost.

It is really gutsy to put the words "Prius" and "Performance" in the same sentence.
wait until people start doing Lithium swaps & slapping bigger inverters in em...or just Tesla-swapping the rear axle...

My Prius 2010 keeps engine running in cold even with the battery charged, what might be the reason? No Mechanic is understanding it :(

@mstngken Actually no, I have driven a Chevette before & its totally gutless.....
The Prius actually has like 40hp more & LOTS more torque.

Buy a Ford Fusion hybrid, its twice the car, better quality and will stop when you expect it too.
