  • The motor mounts on my Onan generator are old and not in very good shape. Additionally, the generator sags and won't go all the way in so I hope that new mounts will solve that problem. Here are the mounts that I used (www.gmcrvparts.com/product-p/....

I replaced the mounts on mine and found 2 were installed incorrectly. I also found the rails had a slight twist from the tolerance of the mounting holes for the bolts. I lifted the weight off the rails and loosened the bolts on the front cover plate. I was then able to straighten the rails to be vertical and retighten the bolts. This also helped lift the front of the generator a bit more. The unit then slide in and out freely.
This was 5 or 6 years ago, so I forget if there was other bolts that I loosed and retightened and I'm away from the coach so I can't look at it.

Thanks for the thoughts! I'm not sure why the generator is too low, something is not right but it's just one more mystery to solve :) The joys of owning a 45 year old vehicle that has been worked on by armatures, like myself, for most of it's life! And, it gets more interesting when installing parts from another coach.

New mounts made all the difference on my 4k Onan
The sag caused the oil pan drain plug to strike
Also the starter showed signed of strike
    Look for bare metal underneath
Find out what exactly is striking

Thanks for the information. I can see that the starter is hitting the bottom of the drawer. I'll have to investigate more to figure out where the problem is. You never know what has been done in the past and this generator is a replacement so there are even more questions.
