Every time I visit Toronto, I love taking the subways. I park my car at my friend's condo in North York and the subway line is just across the street. How perfect is that? Watching this video, even hearing the audio is just amazing.
Awesome! Actually filmed in the cab, not through the narrow tinted window. Always wanted to see those new TYSSE tunnels, though they're starting to accumulate some grime after almost five years.
I miss riding this line... There's so much to observe! Can't do it with these new cars any more... I don't look forward to losing the old ones on line 2. If one day this route found it's way to Train Sim World....
I use to operate the real thing no sim needed in my case I am now retired from the TTC. Back in the day that hill coming down into York Mills you get the train rocking pretty good. From Sheppard to Eglinton is a steep run down but it is down hill all the way to Union.
Don’t you not know a ghost when you see one? LOL Seriously though, there was an operator change when the train arrived at the station with a really long wait, I cut out some of the wait time from the video.
Supposedly they were doing a rehabilitation project of some kind and removed the paneling to work on the tunnel lining…then ran out of money for the work.
The filming was pre-arranged with the TTC and I paid to have a supervisor present to allow access to the front window and coordinate with the train operator.
The "architectural" concrete (instantly cracked and stained, of course) in the new northern stations looks hideous. The decline in standards from the original, beautiful Eglinton station through the less fancy but architecturally interesting 70s/80s Dupont-to-Wilson stations to the half-assed post-2000 stations really matches the decline of Toronto as a whole. Used to be a well-run place, but now an embarrassment. Imagine the TTC in 1980 just hanging exposed plastic trash bags from metal hoops.
Every time I hear her saying "Arriving at Dumbass...Dundas station". Every. Time. I have a theory that it was made intentionally. I rewound several times and every time I hear "Arriving at Dumbass...Dundas station" and I hear it always when I use the subway. Is it only me? Am I getting insane?
Obviously not filmed during the weekend otherwise you would have had to include the inevitable shuttlebus at some point along Yonge Street. Toronto: World class city with public transit only on work days (and lets not get started on the road closures and the fact that 70% of the roads are a disgrace). I used to love this city but John Tory is the worst mayor this city has ever seen (and that is saying something).
I really do not know why people like you continually rag on the TTC for weekend closures!! They have said time and time again that one weekend closure equals FIVE WEEKS of nightly closures! Once line 5 is completed, and all the signal upgrades are done, the only time you will see shuttle buses on Yonge will be during unexpected circumstances!!
@@GrandRiverTravelTransportation I am actually amazed that you were able to do round trips on all 4 lines in one day! Must have had to do some planning, since you did it in off peak hours only!! Congratulations on the accomplishment!
It was a very long and exhausting, yet rewarding, day. Line 2 and Line 3 were filmed between the peak periods then Line 1 and Line 4 in the evening. Not to mention I live an hours drive from Toronto.
I needed to see this. Thanks for recording.

You deserve more subs, since YOU filmed the ENTIRE Line, which takes very long to film, thanks for filming these!
I really love the highway style place of the yorkdale stations, I really wish we can get more of them.

It takes some patience to get the credentials in order to do this, as well. Not a small effort.

I was very cognizant of that when scheduling the shoot; everything was filmed on a Wednesday outside peak times.
