There is black abalone, so they could have used that for the dark part of the Pandas. Another option could have been Jet, a mineraloid (it’s actually ancient wood that’s petrified under heat and pressure)
I'm a HUGE fan of both "Art Guitars" and letting the beauty of the wood speak for itself. That Martin with the wolf is one of the finest examples of both I have ever seen. Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow ,beautiful guitars !..I love the Rose SJ-200 and the Rose Purple Quilt LP , the color is so pleasing to mine eyes , the Da Vinci Martin would be more desirable if it was his three panel ' Garden of earthly delights ' ...Thanks Trogness Monster !
Why? I mean most of them arent for playing. I'd absolutely love to have that Washburn dolphin hollowbody though, ide play that all the time, along with the Panda J185 and Martin Wolf. The others are too expensive to take a chance on playing.
As I understand it, all pandas are property of the Chinese government and as such, they all have Chinese names. However, there is a “furry” named Jennifer Panda but I don’t think that’s what inspired that guitar! 😂
@@kevinh4910like I said China doesn’t own all the pandas. China used to gift pandas years ago. This coming year I believe all pandas owned by China need to be returned.
My only problem is that you'd have to put me in a padded room before I would even think about picking any of these up. All my well loved guitars, tend to look...well loved. But its fine because they're all cheap cheerful players grade stuff. If you handed me one of these, id start to hyperventilate.
People generally scoff at the art guitars because we can purchase similar versions from other brands made in Asia at a fraction of the cost. And seeing those in person is not nearly as impressive as seeing a real Gibson art guitar in person. And if you don't know there's a big difference then you wouldn't know they are two very different experiences just by the pics alone. I had a really dressed up Ibanez Destroyer with the abalone, art inlays, figured top, but with very little movement. I thought it was awesome to my young eye, until I held a Gibson Butterfly in my hands years later. Two very different levels.
Just totally awesome & WAY beyond anything I could ever imagine owning. I mean, maybe if I was a BILLIONAIRE yet those are pieces that truly don't deserve to be played IMO just adorned behind glass or in a museum. I saw a few of those Martin's while taking the tour there, amazing looking! Yes I did say between 150K & 200K for that one you asked about. I mean, the craftsmanship on ALL of those tonight are just beyond gorgeous. Thanks for sharing his page, I would never have looked there.
wowzers. I love the Purple paul with the white Back. Id by that in a second......I mean....Ya Know.......If u loan me the money lol. thanks Austin. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.
Well, while I stare at my Warren Demartini Charvel snakeskin masterpiece I can rest comfortably knowing I only spent $800.00 and not $180,000.00 LOL! Beautiful guitars for sure an absolute master class!
The Great Wall Acoustic is amazing- at first I thought $100K then I thought no it would be $250K. So $175k is a bargain. Fun episode of awesome art work!
Love ya Trogly but gotta say it makes me very sad that the Maltese Cross is mostly associated with a dweeby motorcycle show from the mid 2000s.
That cross looks a lot more Iron than Maltese
@@AMPR45 that is true!
I usually prefer more understated aesthetics, but wow, some of the guitars in this episode really look incredible.
This reminds me of a saying in the car business.
"There is an ass for every seat."

At first glance, I thought the panda was jar jar binks
Oh lord. That panda was design was horrible. Can’t wait for the squirrel or possum design next.
Agreed.😢
Absolutely amazing artwork on those guitars. I'll probably never be able to afford a normal LP, but I'd love to see one in person.
I'm surprised, Austin. How do you not know the J-185 has the "Maltese Cross" stock with that bridge inlay?
is that a shout out to the Chibsons? The panda inlay😂
man that last guitar, holy shit! insanity at its finest.
It's nice to see what they can do!
🐼“Barf.”
The wolf and the dolphin guitars were my favourites.
Gibson should check into doing a guitar with a Johnathan The Tortoise guitar. He is the oldest living land animal. Hatched in the 1832
I would play the hell out of some wonder wall on it.
The wolf is cool
I bet epiphone could do pandas 😂
Really like the Martin Wolf. I'm also a fan of real mother of pearl for the tuner knobs on those Gibson's.
I love Martin Wolf.
"is there a specific panda out there in the world named Jennifer?"

That sj200 12 string I want so desperately
Martin wolf should have been silver fox quilt. Lol I want ocean on the fretboard. Ok, how the f am I gonna do that?! 😅
I apprenticeshiped under Peter Cree and was blessed to work with Martin R&D. I would love to talk and pick each others brains.
6:54- am I insane or am I seeing Howard The Duck T-1000 in the grain pattern?

Every time I see that panda inlay, I think the ears are eyes and the eyes are nose holes, so it looks more like a hippie hippo to me.
The gaudy episode. I love seeing this stuff, but I wouldn't be caught dead playing them.
Why? I mean most of them arent for playing. I'd absolutely love to have that Washburn dolphin hollowbody though, ide play that all the time, along with the Panda J185 and Martin Wolf. The others are too expensive to take a chance on playing.
@ethanfullerton507 I'm not in to flashy. Not my style
WOW! Just WOW!
If im paying $175k for a guitar I better get free shipping..
LMAO! I'm sure they would hand deliver it for free! ;p
That panda can also look like Jar Jar Binks❕😧
How did you miss the cow/hippo on the back of that Martin OM!? :)
J185 usually have the crosses on the bridge

Have you ever done something by Mike Shiskov? The guy who worked at Hamer and is a brother of Yuriy? It's more Gibsony...
Have you heard of Spacetone Music out of San Antonio Tx? They usually have a crazy amount of vintage Gibsons, Fenders and other makes
The Washburn headstock has a Johnny Walker scotch whiskey label vibe.
Another Washburn themed On Green Dolphin Street would be nice. Grover Imperials. I’d even put them on a $150.00 Epiphone & make it decent.
I see John Mayer using the Martin wolf guitar

great wall of Tartaria
Those panda guitars are fugly.😮

😮 ❤ them!!!
Mother of Pearl. Mother of God, I couldn't afford daughter of a baloney.
It’s purple! Buy 💜
Didn't they do the Ace Freheley Les Paul years ago?
'97 and a few more iterations after that
Very cool
Les Paul never liked Panda bears. True story.
That is an odd one. Interesting guitar. I like pandas lol
panda-monium
OH MY FREAKING GOD this Martin wolf acoustic looks phenomenal! I think they can take off pickguard and make limited run of those..
There's a guitar company wolf that's there logo
👍
Orange county choppers or a certain evil military group from the past? Lol
Yo, do some Fenders already.
Especially fender Japan releases, they get the coolest stuff and it's reasonably priced

I find it mildly insulting when people selling any guitar over 5k charges shipping; let alone $29,999.
