It bothers me when I hear that people want the DCEU to be like the MCU & Avengers movies. It's good to have different styles, instead of McDonalds and Burger King.
I think you have a good point but that doesn't mean they should have a different movie tone just for the sake of it. For example like having a dark batman movie or a sort of Shakespearean worderwoman movie makes sense but not what they did to man of steel even though I admit I liked the concept of rather more imperfect superman but not what they did to him as sort of a outright jesus analogy in bvs
Glad to hear the guy’s vision is being released, considering it was tampered with when the Zack lost his daughter. Say what you want about the quality of the film, but I really think the most offensive move from the DCEU was throwing Zack under the bus while he mourned his daughter, that shit cuts deeper than any bad film. I don’t think it’s going to be a masterpiece nor am I excited for it. Will I watch it? Probably, but I won’t be rushing to it. When all is said and done, it’s a man’s vision as he intended (or at least the closest we get of his vision) and I think that’s more important than it’s quality right now. I sincerely hope it’s good and that it improves the film.
Exactly , mate ! I am so happy that Zack is going through with his vision and it is not necessarily because I enjoyed his films but rather that he seems like a guy who was truly passionate about the film and put his heart and souls into realising the DCEU . And moreover , I want him to succeed because of all the pain he has gone through the years . Warner scumbags reshot his film and changed most of it without his knowledge while he was suffering from his daughter passing away . How inhuman can you be to do something like that. . I also hated the flack Zack got during that period . People kept calling him selfish like that lady from Collider and did not treat him a fellow human who had his own feelings . And if somebody insults those Collider guys , they get on a high horse and start ranting about how people dehumanise one another when that is exactly what they were doing as well . I hope Zack goes through successfully with his vision and passes with flying colours because he seems like a good person who kept getting bullied and suffered too much and it is high time he gets back on track and proves all the haters wrong .

Also need to take into acount he was told to like shove in 200 plot lines, so it's always up for debate if Zack or the company screwed the DCEU. But Zack at least has a style, something most movie makers these days don't, so props to the guy for just having a style and coming off as a decent guy in interviews at least
My fear is that the film could be very similar to the one we got just with small changes here and there with a different visual tone. I mean I don’t know much about the DCU universe so this could be very wrong but I don’t understand why Whedon would change the movie so drastically from the original plan.
Zack Snyder said the theatrical cut was probably 1/4th of the movie he wanted and said it's gonna be a entirely new thing. Plus it's 4 hours long which is like double the theatrical cuts runtime.

Geoff Johns brought in Whedon because the studio wanted to be like marvel & chase the marvel money. They rewrote 80 pages of dialogue. The theatrical cut only had maybe 1/4 of Snyder’s footage. & initially his whole cut was 3.5hrs. Now it might be 4. Nothing of what whedon shot will be in this film. We should be getting the original Steppinwolf design. We will be getting a couple of Darkseid appearances. One of him as Uxas in the original invasion force & then again at the end. We will be seeing Martian manhunter for sure & maybe a couple of green lanterns. Cyborg, flash & aquaman will be fleshed out more. The corny jokes will be gone (Brunch) Who knows what HBOmax plan is? If they end this on a cliffhanger then maybe they will be able to carry on with his vision. Anything is possible, with a multiverse. They already established that with Ezra Miller flash appearing in the CW flash crisis on infinite earths. Who knows if they carry on maybe they will do a flash point with Jeffery dean morgan as Batman??
Snyder now literally knows what audience are expecting from all his answers to fandom, all those sneak peeks he used to give on Vero. Now if this is handled correctly this will become the next big thing in streaming services
@@CAR5ON I get what you are saying. I have my reservations about it but I feel like the Snyder fandom (the same people who enjoy man of steel and BVS ultimate cut) will enjoy a movie with the same direction and feeling as his previous movies.
It was a giant semantics argument. It didn't really exist per-se, it needed re-shoots and cgi shots ($$ which HBO has provided) to be watchable. This is a victory for fan campaigning though.

Now the question changes again. It went from "Does it exist?" to "Will it be released?". Now the question becomes, "Was it worth it?" I mean as someone who originally denied it's existence, and later curious to what it's about, I am truly concerned if it's actually going to be better than what we had. And more concern if it isn't good, what will that do to DC/WB's reputation and DC fan morale.
I mean technically speaking it doesn't exist as of yet. The script and outline might, but if they're spending 25-30 million to recut, redo animations etc. to make the cut exist.

The continuity between shots, CGI, color grading, tone, and Superman’s face will be better and more consistent for sure. Will the story be better? We’ll just have to wait and see.
I feel like a great way to make Snyder’s universe coexist with the new continuity DC is making is just going the Parallel Universe route. The Snyderverse could be treated as a sort of elseworld universe and the new movies could be the main continuity, and they could even crossover in a crisis on infinite earths type event. Honestly, seeing Batfleck and Pattinson interact as Old batman and Young batman would be fantastic. Like that crossover from Batman beyond back in the day. Either way, I just wanna see more of Snyder’s version of DC. I’m so hyped for the Snydercut.

Expectations ruin MoS and BvS. I like to believe that Zack approached the DCEU with the notion that people already knew about these characters and with so many versions over the years it was fair to assume that a different take wouldn't do harm but with such high profile characters along with the pressure of starting a cinematic universe and again expectations people didn't take very kindly to his vision. Once you separate Zack's DCEU films from the basic lore of the comic books you have yourself a very interesting and fascinating works of cinematic art in my opinion.
I think his biggest mistake was overestimating the audience. Illustrated almost perfectly by the Martha scene, which made perfect sense within the film if you could pay attention but probably came out ofnthe blue for people lacking in critical thinking skills. Though ultimately the biggest overestimation was in audience patience. He failed to make his films make sense on their own. They were made to be watched like a TV series. What would be a cool foreshadowing dream sequence in an episode of GoT or Lost becomes a baffling mess that turns off the mass audience immediately. The MCU was careful to make the early films work as stand alones and sequels only relying on movies in that direct franchise. Which made it easier for casual goers to get more and more into it. Which Zach completely failed to do by either incompetence or misreading the audience. I think this is also why lovers of the the DCEU really love it and see it as more adult than the MCU. Not just because of the tone but because characters are getting arcs spread over multiple films and the fact that what you are seeing won't pay off until future movies. Except of course when you lose your audience so you never get to make those future movies...
I don’t think this movie will be good. In fact, I fully expect it to be worse than the theatrical cut. That said, as a fan of cinema, I’m interested. I’m curious to see how exactly this will play out, because Snyder’s DC Universe is clearly done. I have a feeling he’s going to try and wrap everything up with this movie. I worry about the possible ramifications as a result of this. This sets a dangerous precedent. But it is also good to see Warner Bros. remain the “filmmaker’s studio.” I was wrong. I thought this would never happen.
@@bigjgaming4811 I think you're right about longer runtime opening up more narrative possibilities but we should remember that snyder thrives on unique and cool visuals but he isnt the best story based director like he doesn't thrive on properly complex characters but I still hope it turns out better than theatrical version. Jordan_S Hypothetically, you’re correct, but your assumption is predicated on the idea that Zack Snyder can tell a coherent story. He has proven time and time again that he cannot. Character work and narrative are not his strengths. He’s a very talented visual artist. He knows how to compose a scene - I will not take that away from him. But Snyder’s sensibilities don’t lend themselves to telling a coherent, succinct story full of good characterizations. That’s not who he is. It will be a more interesting watch, but that’s about it.

If this works, it could be a climatic moment when it comes to big budget movie making. Where you have big screen production value formatted to go directly on the small screen, bypassing the theaters entirely. Especially, in this post-covid-19 world this could be the new norm.
I dont care about the snyder cut, I didnt like Batman V Superman, especially the vibe and not getting the idea behind the comic. What I saw of the combined effort of Snyder and Whedon in Justicr League doesnt give me any faith in a full on Snyder version. The DCEU in its current form is held up Wonder Woman and Aquaman, not the Snyder movies.
Stuff with film and TV that happen because of massive fan demand are kind of like tossing a coin. It's about fifty-fifty if it'll actually end up the way people want 😅

The big problem is Snyder made BvS what is one of the worst comic book films out there, while i'm very curious about this cut of JL especially as Whedon's version is awful i do know that at the same time Snyder isn't a good director who doesn't understand DC, he's the type of guy who started with the N52 and thought that's exactly how DC is.
Wow , you got that right, because zack snyder already admitted that his dc movie snyderverse was literally 85% New 52 comic world , 10% Watchmen influences And 5 % shonen anime vibes , but in my opinion, he understands dc comics since watchmen.
My Issue with the whole Synder Cut reveal is the implication it is going to be some polished good film after the mess of the original film. Like lets be honest Snyder hasn't ever made a truly amazing film. Arguably, Dawn of the Dead (2004) remake is his best film and that is just a very loose remake. At the end of the day this might just end up as a polished shit. Yes it's polished and from a distance looks better but at its core it's still a piece of shit. I just think a lot of DC/ Snyder fans are getting there hopes up for this when he has zero track record that this will be any good.

Watchman was a good rendition of one of the best comics ever that played 100% into his style already, so he did well with the proper setup. that said I don't think JL or the DCEU has the proper tone or setup for him to do well. the best mobies don't have hom anywhere near them
If it's shit, it's shit. But being someone who paid for a ticket for Justice League I walked out the cinema completely unsatisfied (like most fans.) But either way it'll be closure and a nice way to send off Ben's Batman. Most the people I know that hated BvS ended up liking the Ultimate Edition of the movie.
I love man of steel, it's my favourite dceu movie BVS was fine and i understand the problems of the movie Zack Snyder is a great director, he made classics like 300, dawn of the dead and watchmen. But the problem is when the movie is released it gets tons of crap but overtime people liked or love it.
At this point I don't care about continuity, because all DC has to do to fix continuity is Flashpoint. Also I just got to be honest about Pattinson as Batman, if Batman isn't using his prep time to get jacked, what the hell else is he doing?

I like Man of Steel very much so. BvS showed sloppiness i feel... with chunks of gold, never fully realized... But no matter how one feels about MoS, its definitely consistent within itself... which is great, entertaining... and was a great start similar to iron man 1 (or 2) if you look at things linearly like that... Box Office puts it at that level... so.. lots of praise...
Well, from what we know now from the latest trailer, it'll be a 4 hour mini series, then likely released as an entire movie. 24 minutes longer than what Zack originally intended. The Knightmare sequence is going to get addressed, based on what's been shown. Still don't know if this will lead to later movies, or just be it's own finish. The Aquaman movie referenced things from Zack's version, so not entirely sure about the continuity. Overall though, excited to see how this turns out.
@Ki Soon Kim I have given Zack Snyder a lot more benefit of the doubt than I normally do with creators I don't like, and his creations I wanted to like always turned into giant pileups of stuff that don't come together into a movie and are ideologically opposed to the source material.
Good video, you've made good arguments in this essay. I remember in 2016 how angry and disappointed I was when BvS came out. At the start of the pandemic, I revisited all Snyder movies trying to understand him better and maybe have a little respect for him. I did my best, and the result was that I ended up respecting him a tiny bit more, but unfortunately, his movies don't speak to me such as other DC or DCEU movies. I fully respect that Snyder is releasing his true version of JL, but I fear I will go through the same anger, hate & disappointment I had in 2016.

Snyder's version was pretty much finished (except for the CGI, sound mixing, etc.) back in May 2017, before most of it was thrown away and reshot
Because 20 million for a summer blockbuster is dirt cheap to a studio not putting out money for other movies this year. it's like once upon a Deadpool. and the VFX artists can work from home or isolated.

@@irosencrantz882 essentially, we are aware that the guy who did it after Jack had a very different vision of the movie, and it's likely large sections which were important to Jacks story were cut out in favor of things the other guy (who's name I don't trust myself to remember or to spell) wanted in the movie, leading to it being a clusterfuck. It is highly unlikely this cut will be worse than that. Also, if you give people a shit and then roll it in glitter, they will be happier than if you just gave them a shit rolled in glitter, because it's an improvement on what they got, instead of something not as bad as they could have gotten.
I don't quite get why ppl want the Snyder Cut in the first place. When a lot don't like Man of Steel... Or BvS... And then think his JL is destined to be amazing. I'd still like it to be great obviously!
I'm not expecting much from this, in fact, I'm not even going to attempt to watch it. While I am curious, his other installments in the DCEU were such that I was not interested in seeing Justice League unless Wonder Woman was a good movie, and thankfully it was, but then Justice League was still not that interesting for me to continue on. I did eventually see Aquaman, but I don't like that they referenced Justice League in that movie. Justice League came out too soon, it needed to have been pushed back a series of movies because we only had Superman and Wonder Woman as developed characters in this world, I guess you could argue Batman, too, but Superman was also dead at that point. I will say that the studio interference didn't help because BvS's Ultimate Edition is better because there is more context for the things that happen, but still, I dislike just about every character in the DCEU except for Wonder Woman. Not to discredit her, but how sad is it when a series of DC movies only have Wonder Woman as the only ultimate beacon of hope? And even in the current day, she had given up on that hope until basically the Justice League movie. Part of me really hopes that this whole Snyder Cut thing fails. Admire his passion all you want, and certainly feel for him with his situations in life surrounding the production of this movie that forced him to drop out, but I just don't see this really going well. This really feels more like it proves the point that if you pester a company enough, they will eventually succumb, even if it's a product that they themselves don't actually believe in or it would be too expensive. Based on the reactions they were seeing from his previous installments, Zach was already on his way out, and then the unfortunate thing with his daughter happened and it gave Warner an easier way to relieve him of service. It was pretty clear that moviegoers were not having fun in this world he was creating, and it was becoming this niche thing that you can't support multi-million dollar budget films on. We just had Clone Wars wrap up, and it was great, but the difference is that Disney just flat out shut down the show once they took ownership of Lucasfilm and it wasn't until production costs were low enough to achieve the same quality or higher as before to give the show a proper conclusion 7 years later. They knew it was a viable product, but not only did they have different goals at the time, the show was just too expensive, too, it wasn't just the pestering of fans, whom they don't listen to anyway since they trusted the creators of the Sequel Trilogy, not what only half the fanbase wanted. They trusted Dave Filoni's capabilities and those of the crew he worked with in their past successes to go forth with Clone Wars, and it just so happens that there was a previously existing and substantial positive reception to that group from initial viewers exposing more and more new people to the stories that group had worked on. This Snyder Cut thing feels more like fans yelling "Do what the fans want!" and in a shocking move, Warner is complying. Fans don't actually know what they want. I want this, while someone else wants that, while another person wants another thing. You can't please them all, and bowing to a loud group of niche fans will only please them in the capacity that you gave them a thing they -demanded- asked for, which is for Zach Snyder to do a thing, versus what they want, which is for that thing to be good and potentially continue on into other stuff that will probably divide that niche group further.

What i think will happen: Shazam-stand alone alongside the spin offs expanding the universe like Black Adam Aquaman- same as shazam Ww84- some weird kind of soft reboot Suicide squad 2- same as wonder woman 84 Justice league- ignored Justice league snyder's cut- the continuity of MOS and BVS and ending the story with no connection with aquaman and whatever comes after The batman- stand alone Probably if we will have an actual JL movie with these characters after aquaman from 2018, they'll use flash to unite them but just for a movie, and everybody comesback for their regular universe. You asked some questions as to who we are going to see. Darkseid is confirmed both young as Uxas in a fights scenes vs Ares (played by the same actor as in Wonder Woman) Zeus and the gang. We will also see him as darkseid. Martian Manhunter is also confirmed.
I think this has a chance at being better than the theatrical release. Many comments seem to be skeptical and concerned (understandably) that this won’t be worth the hype. The thing is, Snyder has had two years to see the backlash and negative reviews and understand what the original film got wrong and needs in order to improve. So in summary, it won’t go from a cruddy movie to a masterpiece but I do think this will be a better and more realised vision. Maybe if we’re lucky, some of the effects are better too.
I really despise what happened with the Justice League movie and some of the things Whedon put in (the leg bleed, flash on wonder woman, lot of superman lines were like some garbage from CW). However, you are very correct in the fact that there was huge studio interference that even Whedon didn´t have a say. One of the guys who worked on VFX told that the entire color change that came in the third act was coming from suits and lot of changes with color palet was them coming in not Whedon.
Yesterday I was talking to my GF and went in a 4 hour rant about why the Snyder Cut was such a big deal and what it meant in the Marvel VS DC wars. When I finished I looked back at her and somewhere in the middle of that rant she fell sleep. Just like she did back when she saw the movie in theaters.
@Fullfat We will see Darkseid. He’s shown fighting the Gods alongside his uncle in the history lesson (which is commemorated in concept art), hes alluded to by Wolf and we see him in a tease at the very end. So I think we get three teasers to him. Well also see him in New Gods for what it’s worth
From what I've heard, Snyder's original 5 film plan involved the i troduction of the Green Lantern Corps (including either Hal Jordan, John Stewart, or both), the New Gods, Darkseid, the Furies, Martian Manhunter (I think the general from MOS and BVS may have even been J'onn in disguise), mind-controlled black suit Superman, and eventually Superman growing as a character into his more traditional, fully developed and iconic self, personality-wise. I don't like all of Snyder's creative decisions that he has made with his own movies, but he clearly does like the DCU, has an compelling creative vision (if only he'd flesh out some of his bigger ideas a bit more), and knows how to tell an interesting story. I think it's also just a fact that the studio execufi e interferen e-riddled theatrical versions of his films are inferior to all of the director's cut versions, which goes to show that, in spite of his flaws, Zack Snyder really is a better filmmaker than the studio actually allows him to be die to their own ignorant micromanaging of seemingly everything DC related. Hr deserves this big break, and I'm glad we all get to see this. At the end of the day, I don't think questions over continuity going forward really matters all that much, because all of the characters more or less end up in the same place. They're a team, they save the world, and Superman feels mire like his fully-developed self as a symbol of hope, so I'm not worried about it. Even if it isn't great, it's going to be a wild ride, and it can't be any worse than that frankenstein's monster of a theatrical cut.
Can I just say it's not re cutting it. He completed full principle photography, zack needed a few pick up shots but all the bones were there. I have heard however that stephenwolf will revert to the bvs model. Cyborg will be the heart of the movie, zack stated this many times. He has a tragedy half way through and struggles with the mother boxes. More flash and a whole backstory along with much more aquaman and obviously fleshed out batman and supes not to mention ww cutting off stepenwolfs head! . Check out the various plot breakdowns of zacks movie, there are many out there. One of the new scenes will be Martian manhunter scene that was mostly done but needed Harry Linux to do his bit. I loved mos and bvs so I'm so excited!
I'm still not sure if I'll like the movie given that I was meh on Man of Steel and really really disliked BvS, but it is very cool that this is happening and I can't wait to watch it if only for its significance. If this does impact the rest of the DCEU though, I hope the decision isn't made to make more of the movies "darker and edgier" like BVS or Man of Steel because I really enjoyed the more lighthearted Aquaman and Shazam.
Before this was announced it was confirmed that at least BvS (from that we can assume MoS) is canon in WW84, which suggests that maybe Justice League is supposed to remain canon, and the Snyder Cut will correct that canon? Who knows.
Just like how the comics continuity got all out of whack and didn't make sense, different versions of the characters running around, what did they do: Crisis on Infinite Earths, a clash of alternate timelines and universes, resulting in a streamlining of continuity. Flashpoint story arc did the same.. WB should do a Crisis type movie (or series), clash these different things together, put Batfleck and Pattinson on screen together, all that sorta stuff. Heck maybe even bring on CW characters or DC streaming service characters. End it with a streamlining of continuity, a clear and focused "this is canon, this is not," and go from there.
Gona be fun no matter how good or bad the movie is, the cercumstances around how the release got to happen alone make his intresting in a historic wqay for the medium.
It doesn't even matter whether this movie will be good or not, this just opens so many doors. It is a massive win for fans. What happens now with any recently released or future movie that wasn't/isn't a success? What happens to a show like GoT that had a huge backlash from the fanbase for how poor the final season's writing was? This is groundbreaking for the possibilities of a fanbase.
I agree to a point about Whedon. He was given a massive task. How all that came about is tragic and up for debate. But, one things for sure. It would not look as interesting as a Snyder JL. IMO, Snyder is visually a far more interesting director than Whedon.
I hope Snyder fans like this cut. I don't think it will be any good, becuase the version we've already seen was pretty bad. But hopefully the people who wanted this won't be disappointed, but I don't think it could possibly live up to the hype.
I think the Snyder cut will be a comparatively better film than what we got. JW had a very difficult job in trying to take another creator’s vision and mash it together with studio notes and executive interference and it shows in the final version of the film. Now, I don’t think that being comparatively better isn’t the same thing as saying it’ll be good. I don’t think this will end up being a good film. Snyder’s DCEU projects are overwrought. They’re doing their best to try and imitate Greek tragedies, and they get so caught up in the attempted gravitas that the movies can’t breathe. It’s full on emotional drama dialed up to 11 from start to finish. There aren’t nearly enough of the small human moments. That’s one of the reason Jeremy Irons and Ben Affleck seemed so interesting together. Their scenes together, specifically from the point of view of Alfred, were filled with smaller but more intense and personal stakes. Alfred’s fear wasn’t about giant moral questions on the nature of humanity and justice and vengeance and blah blah blah. It was one of the only places in BvS where one person was believably and with verisimilitude concerned about a loved one. We aren’t going to get that kind of characterization from Snyder trying to up the ante in his full vision for Justice League.
I wouldn’t say the DCEU is dead, because it’s not. Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Shazam all take place within the same continuity AND they’re all getting sequels. If this version of justice league does well, they may even green light a sequel.
The biggest problem of Snyder’s movies was that they’re all part of one big story which A. Will never truly be finished and B. We’re made as chapters in a story and it their own separate stories
I can't wait for this to come out. I still think it's going to be a 5/10, 6/10 movie, but if this manages to either make the film profitable, renew interest in the DCEU franchise, and is better received by critics or fans than the original cut then hopefully it might be a mick up the ass to Warner Brothers to stop interfering so hard with franchise films and put more trust in the original vision, so we don't end up with the likes of Fantastic Beasts 2 or Justice League
My biggest fears are some things I've been reading a lot, from different sources, on the Internet: 1. It's going to be split into a mini-series, instead of being a movie. 2. It's going to be black & white.

It bothers me when I hear that people want the DCEU to be like the MCU & Avengers movies. It's good to have different styles, instead of McDonalds and Burger King.
I think you have a good point but that doesn't mean they should have a different movie tone just for the sake of it. For example like having a dark batman movie or a sort of Shakespearean worderwoman movie makes sense but not what they did to man of steel even though I admit I liked the concept of rather more imperfect superman but not what they did to him as sort of a outright jesus analogy in bvs

Glad to hear the guy’s vision is being released, considering it was tampered with when the Zack lost his daughter. Say what you want about the quality of the film, but I really think the most offensive move from the DCEU was throwing Zack under the bus while he mourned his daughter, that shit cuts deeper than any bad film.
I don’t think it’s going to be a masterpiece nor am I excited for it. Will I watch it? Probably, but I won’t be rushing to it. When all is said and done, it’s a man’s vision as he intended (or at least the closest we get of his vision) and I think that’s more important than it’s quality right now. I sincerely hope it’s good and that it improves the film.

I am so happy that Zack is going through with his vision and it is not necessarily because I enjoyed his films but rather that he seems like a guy who was truly passionate about the film and put his heart and souls into realising the DCEU . And moreover , I want him to succeed because of all the pain he has gone through the years . Warner scumbags reshot his film and changed most of it without his knowledge while he was suffering from his daughter passing away . How inhuman can you be to do something like that. . I also hated the flack Zack got during that period . People kept calling him selfish like that lady from Collider and did not treat him a fellow human who had his own feelings . And if somebody insults those Collider guys , they get on a high horse and start ranting about how people dehumanise one another when that is exactly what they were doing as well . Zack Snyder said the theatrical cut was probably 1/4th of the movie he wanted and said it's gonna be a entirely new thing. Plus it's 4 hours long which is like double the theatrical cuts runtime.

Geoff Johns brought in Whedon because the studio wanted to be like marvel & chase the marvel money. They rewrote 80 pages of dialogue. The theatrical cut only had maybe 1/4 of Snyder’s footage. & initially his whole cut was 3.5hrs. Now it might be 4. Nothing of what whedon shot will be in this film. We should be getting the original Steppinwolf design. We will be getting a couple of Darkseid appearances. One of him as Uxas in the original invasion force & then again at the end. We will be seeing Martian manhunter for sure & maybe a couple of green lanterns. Cyborg, flash & aquaman will be fleshed out more. The corny jokes will be gone (Brunch) Who knows what HBOmax plan is? If they end this on a cliffhanger then maybe they will be able to carry on with his vision. Anything is possible, with a multiverse. They already established that with Ezra Miller flash appearing in the CW flash crisis on infinite earths. Who knows if they carry on maybe they will do a flash point with Jeffery dean morgan as Batman??

Now the question changes again. It went from "Does it exist?" to "Will it be released?". Now the question becomes, "Was it worth it?" I mean as someone who originally denied it's existence, and later curious to what it's about, I am truly concerned if it's actually going to be better than what we had. And more concern if it isn't good, what will that do to DC/WB's reputation and DC fan morale.

I feel like a great way to make Snyder’s universe coexist with the new continuity DC is making is just going the Parallel Universe route. The Snyderverse could be treated as a sort of elseworld universe and the new movies could be the main continuity, and they could even crossover in a crisis on infinite earths type event. Honestly, seeing Batfleck and Pattinson interact as Old batman and Young batman would be fantastic. Like that crossover from Batman beyond back in the day. Either way, I just wanna see more of Snyder’s version of DC. I’m so hyped for the Snydercut.

Expectations ruin MoS and BvS. I like to believe that Zack approached the DCEU with the notion that people already knew about these characters and with so many versions over the years it was fair to assume that a different take wouldn't do harm but with such high profile characters along with the pressure of starting a cinematic universe and again expectations people didn't take very kindly to his vision. Once you separate Zack's DCEU films from the basic lore of the comic books you have yourself a very interesting and fascinating works of cinematic art in my opinion.
I think his biggest mistake was overestimating the audience. Illustrated almost perfectly by the Martha scene, which made perfect sense within the film if you could pay attention but probably came out ofnthe blue for people lacking in critical thinking skills.
Though ultimately the biggest overestimation was in audience patience. He failed to make his films make sense on their own. They were made to be watched like a TV series. What would be a cool foreshadowing dream sequence in an episode of GoT or Lost becomes a baffling mess that turns off the mass audience immediately.
The MCU was careful to make the early films work as stand alones and sequels only relying on movies in that direct franchise. Which made it easier for casual goers to get more and more into it. Which Zach completely failed to do by either incompetence or misreading the audience.
I think this is also why lovers of the the DCEU really love it and see it as more adult than the MCU. Not just because of the tone but because characters are getting arcs spread over multiple films and the fact that what you are seeing won't pay off until future movies. Except of course when you lose your audience so you never get to make those future movies...
I don’t think this movie will be good. In fact, I fully expect it to be worse than the theatrical cut. That said, as a fan of cinema, I’m interested. I’m curious to see how exactly this will play out, because Snyder’s DC Universe is clearly done. I have a feeling he’s going to try and wrap everything up with this movie.
I worry about the possible ramifications as a result of this. This sets a dangerous precedent. But it is also good to see Warner Bros. remain the “filmmaker’s studio.” I was wrong. I thought this would never happen.

Jordan_S Hypothetically, you’re correct, but your assumption is predicated on the idea that Zack Snyder can tell a coherent story. He has proven time and time again that he cannot. Character work and narrative are not his strengths. He’s a very talented visual artist. He knows how to compose a scene - I will not take that away from him. But Snyder’s sensibilities don’t lend themselves to telling a coherent, succinct story full of good characterizations. That’s not who he is. It will be a more interesting watch, but that’s about it.

The big problem is Snyder made BvS what is one of the worst comic book films out there, while i'm very curious about this cut of JL especially as Whedon's version is awful i do know that at the same time Snyder isn't a good director who doesn't understand DC, he's the type of guy who started with the N52 and thought that's exactly how DC is.

My Issue with the whole Synder Cut reveal is the implication it is going to be some polished good film after the mess of the original film. Like lets be honest Snyder hasn't ever made a truly amazing film. Arguably, Dawn of the Dead (2004) remake is his best film and that is just a very loose remake. At the end of the day this might just end up as a polished shit. Yes it's polished and from a distance looks better but at its core it's still a piece of shit. I just think a lot of DC/ Snyder fans are getting there hopes up for this when he has zero track record that this will be any good.

But either way it'll be closure and a nice way to send off Ben's Batman. Most the people I know that hated BvS ended up liking the Ultimate Edition of the movie.

Well, from what we know now from the latest trailer, it'll be a 4 hour mini series, then likely released as an entire movie. 24 minutes longer than what Zack originally intended. The Knightmare sequence is going to get addressed, based on what's been shown. Still don't know if this will lead to later movies, or just be it's own finish. The Aquaman movie referenced things from Zack's version, so not entirely sure about the continuity. Overall though, excited to see how this turns out.

I have given Zack Snyder a lot more benefit of the doubt than I normally do with creators I don't like, and his creations I wanted to like always turned into giant pileups of stuff that don't come together into a movie and are ideologically opposed to the source material.
Good video, you've made good arguments in this essay. I remember in 2016 how angry and disappointed I was when BvS came out. At the start of the pandemic, I revisited all Snyder movies trying to understand him better and maybe have a little respect for him. I did my best, and the result was that I ended up respecting him a tiny bit more, but unfortunately, his movies don't speak to me such as other DC or DCEU movies. I fully respect that Snyder is releasing his true version of JL, but I fear I will go through the same anger, hate & disappointment I had in 2016.

@@irosencrantz882 essentially, we are aware that the guy who did it after Jack had a very different vision of the movie, and it's likely large sections which were important to Jacks story were cut out in favor of things the other guy (who's name I don't trust myself to remember or to spell) wanted in the movie, leading to it being a clusterfuck. It is highly unlikely this cut will be worse than that. Also, if you give people a shit and then roll it in glitter, they will be happier than if you just gave them a shit rolled in glitter, because it's an improvement on what they got, instead of something not as bad as they could have gotten.

I'm not expecting much from this, in fact, I'm not even going to attempt to watch it. While I am curious, his other installments in the DCEU were such that I was not interested in seeing Justice League unless Wonder Woman was a good movie, and thankfully it was, but then Justice League was still not that interesting for me to continue on. I did eventually see Aquaman, but I don't like that they referenced Justice League in that movie. Justice League came out too soon, it needed to have been pushed back a series of movies because we only had Superman and Wonder Woman as developed characters in this world, I guess you could argue Batman, too, but Superman was also dead at that point. I will say that the studio interference didn't help because BvS's Ultimate Edition is better because there is more context for the things that happen, but still, I dislike just about every character in the DCEU except for Wonder Woman. Not to discredit her, but how sad is it when a series of DC movies only have Wonder Woman as the only ultimate beacon of hope? And even in the current day, she had given up on that hope until basically the Justice League movie. Part of me really hopes that this whole Snyder Cut thing fails. Admire his passion all you want, and certainly feel for him with his situations in life surrounding the production of this movie that forced him to drop out, but I just don't see this really going well.
This really feels more like it proves the point that if you pester a company enough, they will eventually succumb, even if it's a product that they themselves don't actually believe in or it would be too expensive. Based on the reactions they were seeing from his previous installments, Zach was already on his way out, and then the unfortunate thing with his daughter happened and it gave Warner an easier way to relieve him of service. It was pretty clear that moviegoers were not having fun in this world he was creating, and it was becoming this niche thing that you can't support multi-million dollar budget films on. We just had Clone Wars wrap up, and it was great, but the difference is that Disney just flat out shut down the show once they took ownership of Lucasfilm and it wasn't until production costs were low enough to achieve the same quality or higher as before to give the show a proper conclusion 7 years later. They knew it was a viable product, but not only did they have different goals at the time, the show was just too expensive, too, it wasn't just the pestering of fans, whom they don't listen to anyway since they trusted the creators of the Sequel Trilogy, not what only half the fanbase wanted. They trusted Dave Filoni's capabilities and those of the crew he worked with in their past successes to go forth with Clone Wars, and it just so happens that there was a previously existing and substantial positive reception to that group from initial viewers exposing more and more new people to the stories that group had worked on. This Snyder Cut thing feels more like fans yelling "Do what the fans want!" and in a shocking move, Warner is complying. Fans don't actually know what they want. I want this, while someone else wants that, while another person wants another thing. You can't please them all, and bowing to a loud group of niche fans will only please them in the capacity that you gave them a thing they -demanded- asked for, which is for Zach Snyder to do a thing, versus what they want, which is for that thing to be good and potentially continue on into other stuff that will probably divide that niche group further.
I'm not looking forward to this. I got to listen to WAY too many DCEU fanboys say

What i think will happen:
Shazam-stand alone alongside the spin offs expanding the universe like Black Adam
Aquaman- same as shazam
Ww84- some weird kind of soft reboot
Suicide squad 2- same as wonder woman 84
Justice league- ignored
Justice league snyder's cut- the continuity of MOS and BVS and ending the story with no connection with aquaman and whatever comes after
The batman- stand alone
Probably if we will have an actual JL movie with these characters after aquaman from 2018, they'll use flash to unite them but just for a movie, and everybody comesback for their regular universe. Just as cw is doing
If you like Mando, just wait for the Marvel shows, 6 eps, 150M, 25M per episode and not just Marvel, you gonna start to get more and more of this in streaming.

You asked some questions as to who we are going to see. Darkseid is confirmed both young as Uxas in a fights scenes vs Ares (played by the same actor as in Wonder Woman) Zeus and the gang. We will also see him as darkseid. Martian Manhunter is also confirmed.
Did you ever make a full review for the snyder cut?
I think this has a chance at being better than the theatrical release. Many comments seem to be skeptical and concerned (understandably) that this won’t be worth the hype. The thing is, Snyder has had two years to see the backlash and negative reviews and understand what the original film got wrong and needs in order to improve. So in summary, it won’t go from a cruddy movie to a masterpiece but I do think this will be a better and more realised vision. Maybe if we’re lucky, some of the effects are better too.

I really despise what happened with the Justice League movie and some of the things Whedon put in (the leg bleed, flash on wonder woman, lot of superman lines were like some garbage from CW). However, you are very correct in the fact that there was huge studio interference that even Whedon didn´t have a say. One of the guys who worked on VFX told that the entire color change that came in the third act was coming from suits and lot of changes with color palet was them coming in not Whedon.

Yesterday I was talking to my GF and went in a 4 hour rant about why the Snyder Cut was such a big deal and what it meant in the Marvel VS DC wars. When I finished I looked back at her and somewhere in the middle of that rant she fell sleep. Just like she did back when she saw the movie in theaters.

We will see Darkseid. He’s shown fighting the Gods alongside his uncle in the history lesson (which is commemorated in concept art), hes alluded to by Wolf and we see him in a tease at the very end.
So I think we get three teasers to him.

From what I've heard, Snyder's original 5 film plan involved the i troduction of the Green Lantern Corps (including either Hal Jordan, John Stewart, or both), the New Gods, Darkseid, the Furies, Martian Manhunter (I think the general from MOS and BVS may have even been J'onn in disguise), mind-controlled black suit Superman, and eventually Superman growing as a character into his more traditional, fully developed and iconic self, personality-wise. I don't like all of Snyder's creative decisions that he has made with his own movies, but he clearly does like the DCU, has an compelling creative vision (if only he'd flesh out some of his bigger ideas a bit more), and knows how to tell an interesting story. I think it's also just a fact that the studio execufi e interferen e-riddled theatrical versions of his films are inferior to all of the director's cut versions, which goes to show that, in spite of his flaws, Zack Snyder really is a better filmmaker than the studio actually allows him to be die to their own ignorant micromanaging of seemingly everything DC related. Hr deserves this big break, and I'm glad we all get to see this. At the end of the day, I don't think questions over continuity going forward really matters all that much, because all of the characters more or less end up in the same place. They're a team, they save the world, and Superman feels mire like his fully-developed self as a symbol of hope, so I'm not worried about it. Even if it isn't great, it's going to be a wild ride, and it can't be any worse than that frankenstein's monster of a theatrical cut.

Can I just say it's not re cutting it. He completed full principle photography, zack needed a few pick up shots but all the bones were there.
I have heard however that stephenwolf will revert to the bvs model.
Cyborg will be the heart of the movie, zack stated this many times. He has a tragedy half way through and struggles with the mother boxes. More flash and a whole backstory along with much more aquaman and obviously fleshed out batman and supes not to mention ww cutting off stepenwolfs head! . Check out the various plot breakdowns of zacks movie, there are many out there.
One of the new scenes will be Martian manhunter scene that was mostly done but needed Harry Linux to do his bit.
I loved mos and bvs so I'm so excited!
Darkseid will most likely appear, same can happen with Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter.

I'm still not sure if I'll like the movie given that I was meh on Man of Steel and really really disliked BvS, but it is very cool that this is happening and I can't wait to watch it if only for its significance. If this does impact the rest of the DCEU though, I hope the decision isn't made to make more of the movies "darker and edgier" like BVS or Man of Steel because I really enjoyed the more lighthearted Aquaman and Shazam.

Before this was announced it was confirmed that at least BvS (from that we can assume MoS) is canon in WW84, which suggests that maybe Justice League is supposed to remain canon, and the Snyder Cut will correct that canon? Who knows.

Just like how the comics continuity got all out of whack and didn't make sense, different versions of the characters running around, what did they do: Crisis on Infinite Earths, a clash of alternate timelines and universes, resulting in a streamlining of continuity.
Flashpoint story arc did the same..
WB should do a Crisis type movie (or series), clash these different things together, put Batfleck and Pattinson on screen together, all that sorta stuff. Heck maybe even bring on CW characters or DC streaming service characters. End it with a streamlining of continuity, a clear and focused "this is canon, this is not," and go from there.
Gona be fun no matter how good or bad the movie is, the cercumstances around how the release got to happen alone make his intresting in a historic wqay for the medium.
It doesn't even matter whether this movie will be good or not, this just opens so many doors. It is a massive win for fans. What happens now with any recently released or future movie that wasn't/isn't a success? What happens to a show like GoT that had a huge backlash from the fanbase for how poor the final season's writing was? This is groundbreaking for the possibilities of a fanbase.

I agree to a point about Whedon. He was given a massive task. How all that came about is tragic and up for debate.
But, one things for sure. It would not look as interesting as a Snyder JL. IMO, Snyder is visually a far more interesting director than Whedon.
Hope it starts a trend of spending millions more to redo mediocre movies if it isn’t well received. Then every crappy movie can get a do-over.

I hope Snyder fans like this cut. I don't think it will be any good, becuase the version we've already seen was pretty bad. But hopefully the people who wanted this won't be disappointed, but I don't think it could possibly live up to the hype.
I think the Snyder cut will be a comparatively better film than what we got. JW had a very difficult job in trying to take another creator’s vision and mash it together with studio notes and executive interference and it shows in the final version of the film. Now, I don’t think that being comparatively better isn’t the same thing as saying it’ll be good.
I don’t think this will end up being a good film. Snyder’s DCEU projects are overwrought. They’re doing their best to try and imitate Greek tragedies, and they get so caught up in the attempted gravitas that the movies can’t breathe. It’s full on emotional drama dialed up to 11 from start to finish. There aren’t nearly enough of the small human moments. That’s one of the reason Jeremy Irons and Ben Affleck seemed so interesting together. Their scenes together, specifically from the point of view of Alfred, were filled with smaller but more intense and personal stakes. Alfred’s fear wasn’t about giant moral questions on the nature of humanity and justice and vengeance and blah blah blah. It was one of the only places in BvS where one person was believably and with verisimilitude concerned about a loved one. We aren’t going to get that kind of characterization from Snyder trying to up the ante in his full vision for Justice League.

I wouldn’t say the DCEU is dead, because it’s not. Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Shazam all take place within the same continuity AND they’re all getting sequels. If this version of justice league does well, they may even green light a sequel.

The biggest problem of Snyder’s movies was that they’re all part of one big story which A. Will never truly be finished and B. We’re made as chapters in a story and it their own separate stories

I still think it's going to be a 5/10, 6/10 movie, but if this manages to either make the film profitable, renew interest in the DCEU franchise, and is better received by critics or fans than the original cut then hopefully it might be a mick up the ass to Warner Brothers to stop interfering so hard with franchise films and put more trust in the original vision, so we don't end up with the likes of Fantastic Beasts 2 or Justice League
Snyder is best when he has something that he can copy nearly 1 to 1 but as soon he has his own free vision yeah you have Sucker Punch
My biggest fears are some things I've been reading a lot, from different sources, on the Internet:
1. It's going to be split into a mini-series, instead of being a movie.
2. It's going to be black & white.
