That’s why they went to the XTP! The Nosler can’t take the higher velocity of the .357 Sig and they can’t get a truly bonded bullet like the Gold Dot! An XTP probably can? (BTW: I can accept some fragmentation if it does not limit penetration.)

Love the Noslers, they are monsters. I believe if you had to use these in a self defense situation that it would immediately stop the threat. Absolutely devastating! Great work AZ!!! You're the best by far bro!
You know I love .357sig, I have several boxes of each. My EDC round is the noslers, I was so upset when they switched to the XTP. Luckily I have a nice big supply of them. Thanks for another great test and video. You have a wonderful day my friend.
@@JosephJones.357sig Heck yeah, I will have some full size tests up for ya very soon to compair. Always appreciate ur time my friend. Thank you🫵very much!! Hope u have a great day as well.. take care.
Great video AZ! Man that Nosler makes a friggin' mess of tissue! And it actually exceeded advertised velocity for 3 reasons; 1. It was impact velocity that was measured. 2. It wasn't fired from a 5 inch barrel. 3. It was fired 5 feet further from impact than ordinance distance.
I could watch .357 sig videos all day no matter the ammo.. The only well known and readily available other high capacity semi auto caliber that compares would be 10mm but even then it’s a bigger projectile with more powder so it’s not a fair comparison.. That gold dot was a bit watered down but still performed. The Nosler reminds me of that Double Tap bonded defense with similar results. Great job as always and thanks for sharing .357 sig. 👍😬
Great test as always. Love .357 sig. I feel like 40s&w is making a gradual comeback as well. Would love to see some more .40 testing. Keep up the great work!
40 has to make a comeback because police agencies are rediscovering how mediocre 9mm is in most loadings. There was a reason that 9BPLEs and corbon 115s were pursued for their "street rep". An HST at 38 spl energy levels....is the absolute equal to a .38 spl. stamping it with 9x19 does not change its performance. 9x19 exceeds 38 because of energy.
Been watching all these 357Sig videos, all excellent, and I have learned one significant point. I chose Golden Saber Bonded from the beginning because it has the best expansion to penetration ratio, ie sacrifice monster expansion for more penetration (16+). Watching all these videos has proven it true. Still watching and waiting to see if another can knock the king from his throne!
@@fanman8102 Heck yeah, the golden saber it a good one for sure. I'll be doin a test here soon for ya with it.. a more recent one at least so we can see how it does. Appreciate u checking this one out my friend!!🍻
Both are obviously excellent. I may pick the Nosler over the Gold Dot if it has that much more velocity and energy. Especially if it is dumping the energy a devastating the damage area. The stills really demonstrate the damage. Thank you.
Love your tests! Thing is, the Gold Dot did exactly what a hollow point is supposed to do. That Nosler would give a prosecutor a field day. Pick your battles wisely
Great test! I carry the Underwood GDHP in my S&W Shield 3.1" I averaged 1425fps. Underwood seems to be a mixed bag since covid. Thankfully I have a huge supply of GDHP and Nosler. And if you're wondering. Yeah, .357 sig is pretty rowdy from a 3.1'' barrel.
@DasNukem I'd have to see that 1425fps from a shield 3.1 inch barrel on a actual chronograph...that's what most people are getting from full size weapons..I have that same shield and others are getting 150 fps or so less than that
I carry a 40 shield and it's loaded underwood nosler 135. Really wish I had gold dot loaded or they could load some hst. Love hst but they are a little slow for my personal preference. Underwood is incredible and I've given serious thought about getting a 357 sig barrel
These rounds that fragment like the Nossler round are shit. When they blow apart and can’t hold together under these high velocities it’s kinda pointless when you’re looking for as much mass as possible to get the penetration depth you’re looking for. Give me the bonded rounds all day.
Long time fan of underwood...I'm used to my 357sig 125s moving always above 1425fps at least....for a 20 round box...if they are hovering around 1350-1375fps...I'm forced to go back to the 50 round boxes of federal hst at around 1350-1360fps. .underwoods advantage WAS their speeds and QC...COME ON UNDERWOOD TIGHTEN UP
I have both of these loads and have no interest in purchasing the XTP variety. The Nosler is my carry load as it most resembles the performance of the old school 357 Mag. round that was so effective in stopping fights quickly!

@@ninjadave1970 Oh u know it!! Lol I totally have before too. I was surprised how far back it went. Back when we used to do the jug test, they would come back and hit me in the face or some other body part every time and would get soaked lol.
I stopped buying Underwood sometime ago when the Gold Dots went away. Maybe it’s not their fault. But, the Nosler’s fragments a little to much to my liking. And XTP’s don’t expand enough for me.
If they no longer load the projectile, isn't it a waste of time showing us how good something is when we can't get it any longer? You should show the marginal XTP bullet. The .357 Sig should get it up to the needed velocity for it to function at close range.
Why you gotta tell me they stopped loading these? So the 7 boxes I have of those gold dots is all I'm gonna get? Boo. They also stopped loading my favorite 45 ACPs. The 200 grain plus p's
