Oh their day is coming. They're still stuck in the 90s/00s gaming business model mentality and they don't see how massively the industry is changing and has already changed. Gaming budgets are ballooning as well as development time. More money out, less money in. And while consoles aren't dying, they haven't been growing in many, many years. These three elements means that, as good as Sony is doing right now at this minute, they absolutely cannot continue doing things business as usual. It is mathematically impossible. Something has to give. And combine this with the fact that a lot of people are upset this gen because they felt it was pointless as the leap wasn't that great (except for solid state drives). So when the PS6 comes along and it's essentially "Here's the next one. It's a bit better than the old one. That'll be 900 dollars please!", let's see how successful they are then with how many people are looking towards PCs or PC handhelds as a cheap and easy option. There's already a lot of pissed off PS5 users who felt that this gen was a waste (Xbox too, to be fair). A new console will have to bring something significantly different to the table to justify its existence because it's certainly not going to be graphics. And that explains the rumors behind the next Xbox. Sony has already started with PC ports which is something they said they'd never do. And Sony fans are coping with it by saying it's just Sony trying to make some extra pocket change for fun when in reality they're easing their way into third party out of necessity. It is absolutely mandatory that they find new avenues of income in the next 5-10 years because the way they operate now is destined to fail. Microsoft, on the other hand, hasn't been asleep at the wheel.
