  • I'm excited to share with you a project that I did just for fun - making a weird wooden resin thing. I've always been intrigued by the idea of combining different materials and seeing what comes out of it, so I decided to experiment with wood and resin. I have to admit, I wasn't quite sure how this weird wooden resin thing was going to turn out, but I had a blast making it and I can't wait to share the results with you. So, sit back, relax, and let's see how this strange and fascinating object came out!

    I love watching woodturning videos where things and shapes are put into resin then “turned” to be made into something gorgeous. Very satisfying

    Not sure why but, that extra piece you cut off reminded me of a ramp for skateboarding. Lovely project and yes sometimes we just have to make something for fun.

    Here in South Africa with all our loadshedding (planned power outages), natural light is very often the only light we have to work by. It does make the UV resin part of projects a bit challenging!

    You could use it as a pen or brush holder! It looks great, I love what you did! It's fun to just try new things and see what results you get. Now you know how to do it and that you like how it looks so you can always try other things with an intended shape or purpose! Thanks for sharing this with us :)

    It looks fascinating, and gives me a million ideas. I have some thin wood veneers I've been meaning to use with resin, picture this stricture, but with rainbow stripes, and then sliced into pendants. 🌈💗
    ( This is something I need to focus on, because the election here went totally wrong today, and the next four years will be rough for the likes of me.)

    I agree with Robin Mckenzie: it looks like a drawer pull...or maybe a Man Cave doorknob. 😂

    It'd be interesting to find out the properties if you mix the finest wood powdered down from sanding and make a composite mixture of resin and wood.

    Steve, thank you for posting this video. I really enjoyed the watching you creating that wonderful piece of modern art. I really liked the shape you gave it, especially those little texture marks on the wooden sections that you drilled into it. Looking at it as you turned it in your hands at the end of the video, I got the impression of water running over sharp rocks as I looked at it. It's a lovely piece Steve. God bless you and all those you know and love. Have a great week!

    Use all the grits of sandpaper then polish paste for resin and you can skip the UV resin which leaves it looking unevenly clear/thick

    • @SteveMcDonaldCrafting
      @SteveMcDonaldCrafting ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol. The whole point is I couldn’t be bothered to do all that sanding. 😂😂😂

    • @ZippedUpKitz
      @ZippedUpKitz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was the entire point of using the uv resin… he didn’t want to try and go through all of the sanding grits to sand and polish his little dohickey-thing-a-ma-jiggy-wobber… sanding and polishing oddly shaped objects can be very difficult … thank God for uv resin!

    Wow, and not in a good way. I do a lot of resin and wood designs, and I really don't see anything in this at all. I just don't see any cool factor or techniques, for that matter. I actually see it rather puerile and not in a whimsical way. Hope the next video has a better project.
