I am learning so much, thanks for taking the time to teach us. watched your inlay video last night and ordered a couple of bits and now going to try one of them.
Thanks for the video, Garrett! I am just getting started. I built my own CNC router and now it's time to play. The table has a couple of scars to prove I'm a newbie!! This is just what I have been looking for, for a wedding present.
Jetter 74, you're so welcome! This would make an excellent wedding gift, I'm excited for you to give it a try! Don't worry about the table scars, it just adds character!
I'm enjoying following along with you videos, but the best part is realizing I am getting ahead of you in some steps like fixing bad vectors. Your tutorials have really paid off!
Hi Jeff. Ugh!...waiting for that CNC machine just makes me grit my teeth for you. I can't wait to hear that you got it. Let me know, please so I can breath a sigh of relief and know you're on your way to making amazing stuff!
awesome video, I'm having trouble. I am doing everything you are doing , but as soon as I go to cut the part of the circle out like you do, I loose the hole thing what did I do wrong.
@@IDCWoodcraft when I took the sisors out to cut the circle I lost the hole thing. I realized after about 3 hours of trying and watching your videos that I didn't have it snapped to the center line. Got that problem fixed and now have others.
@@IDCWoodcraft I actually just bought v carve desktop this past weekend. Have had rolling blackouts on account of the cold so I've been tearing into the software on my charged laptop. I'll tell you I tried the free trial a year and a half ago and i didnt have a good grip on all the features, flash forward and it's very inviting and intuitive to use and found that most of my frustrations were alleviated in the actual pay version. I actually downloaded a few of your videos to my ipad to follow you along.
I am attempting to import a simple bit-map and just have VCarve (trial edition) only carve the features like eyes, mouth and external boundary (profile) but I do get a profile but no other characteristics like the eyes and mouth. How do I set up VCarve to carve out those features? I am also having an issue with open vectors. Using Vector Validator and zoom in to area where the open sector is being indicated I have not been able to close the vectors. I have watched several videos on this but none have worked so far. Any suggestions??
Hi Chuck. Image vectors are a challenge. You'll have to work with the threshhold. You may want to learn a bit about the inkcsape software (free). It might help you quite a bit in this area. Regarding the vector issues. Vector validator will pick up intersections that don;t work. Use the node feature to fix these issues. Look for any videos I have done regarding nodes.
I followed a long with the heart video and did what you did on my computer and when I ran the vcarve toolpath I got a pocket in stead of the v grove following the heart shape LOL did some thing wrong.I guess will have to watch again Jeff
