Excellent videos for Myanmar.... Very informative and very clear audio and video. The quality of external MIC gives very good quality audio output. I would like to know the shop u were talking about buying parts for electronic junkies in Yangon. Please mention the name of the shop and the street..if you can still remember.. Very happy with all ur videos about Myanmar..Lots of notes taken down for my visit in Dec2019. Keep up the good work for worldwide travellers. Appreciations from Australia...

It was very interesting that you went through the local newspaper. Thanks Doug. BTW I’m actually hooked on the music that you
play in the beginning of your videos. 😀

Did you notice that in Myanmar, at any house, from little girls to adult males including monks and Army officers all
sleep on bed sheets and pillow cases that are pink and they come with cartoon character or flower prints? You cannot buy solid color bed sheets and pillow cases. (Hotels that cater to foreigners are an exception.) Plastic pipes - regardless of whether they are carrying incoming potable water or outgoing sewer - are all disturbingly blue. I find that very annoying.

No, I didn't notice the pink and flowery bed sheets and pillow cases. For a variety of reasons, I didn't really have much contact with local people on this trip, and I didn't go inside any of the local homes.
I definitely noticed the blue pipes for water. I arrived just before the Thingyan Water Festival, and there were blue water pipes running all over the city and all over the streets pumping water to all the different water stations for the festival. I'm pretty sure they were almost all blue. 🙂

The first time was an accident. The video wasn't complete, but it got published by accident when the power went out and I lost the Internet. I didn't realize it, but it was set to go public on a schedule. And I couldn't change the schedule because there was no Internet. 🙂

Maybe someone who is in Yangon can go to his hostel and check up on him. I believe he last told us he was staying at NZH hostel when he made his hostel tour video.

    As usual, another nice vlog.
Breakfast and the morning papers is a long gone tradition, as with thearrival of the internet, the news delivery has got mobile on the go, and rapidly delivered. There are those who still savor the age old tradition of getting the news in the morning papers with euphoria or sadness, depending on the major news stories. Times have changed and so do habits, like it or not.
The blackouts seem to be a daily occurrence. I am sure there are punters who would bet on what time the first blackout occurs for the day. There is a town called Taiping in Malaysia that takes the crown for the wettest place in Malaysia, in terms of the rainfall it receives. It is said, locals bet on the time the first raindrops fall for the day.

It's always interesting to read the newspapers of countries with very little press freedom. Lots of stories about other countries and feel-good stuff, but never any insightful or expository stories about the country itself or its politics. Thailand is the same way, to a somewhat lesser extent. That paper you went through, which I assume is a major national paper, is about as light in page count and tone as the little bi-weekly county periodicals we have in northern California!
