    Let it die naturally like it been doing for last 600 years, people should know not to walk under it in case branch falls offf its common sense ,

      Ja Ads It's already dead. Since dead trees have no sap they are extremely brittle and prone to break and snap during storms. Leaving it standing could be a major liability

      it's already dead, you want to destroy 300 year old tombstones as well?

      I agree with you it's a shame to have anything that old die because WE said so I'm tired of bad decisions, that town could easily have helped with fertilizer and bolts to help stop the spread. I randomly searched for the oldest tree and it got me here.

    Filling hollowed out branches with concrete to prolong its life?! Or shorten it. 🤔

    • @dboogeman2002
      @dboogeman2002 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The chemicals in the concrete definitely shortened the trees life. The tree probably needed extensive fungicide treatment and bug removal.

    I remember that tree! I spent time under that tree as a child. I got to under that tree a few times and knew the stories surrounding it.
    I had forgotten all about it until now. I didn't think clicking on the video it was going to be that tree. What a shame, but it had quite a long life. And left many people young and old with fond memories of sitting and playing under it, thinking about our young nation.

    Most of the roots are dead, the part we don't see. Oaks thrive in dry climates, and then we build around their beauty, and water them to death. Killed with kindness, but that green lawn is sure pretty.

    everything ages and dies. its only naturally. i only hope they replant an oak tree in its place so....(only hope America still exists) next 600 years the town can still love and cherish the new tree. it be wonderful if they can salvage some parts of the old tree and make something beautiful out of it. just add to cut my old tree down. its very sad when things die. all the people say leave it alone. well if they did that, it would be dead long ago. look how much props and cables its taking to hold it up. poor old thing. its like old grandma, she wants the machine unplugged. jk.

    Dead my left toe! See those leaves on it? That was from the past season. It's clearly alive. They just got lazy and didn't want to support the tree.

    They should have collected acorns from it to grow its offspring in its place after they cut it down. Maybe there’s some small ones sprouted somewhere close by.

    well it could be preserved as a sort of a memorial or a monument, which doesn't have to be alive to be symbolic or meaningful, people build monuments of stone so let this tree fossilize too

    *OLDEST **_OAK_** TREE in AMERICA!*
    It's _"oldest _*_white oak_*_ tree"_ but not oldest of ALL trees in America because that is the Bristle cone pine -over 5000 years old!

    I'm sure the chemicals in the concrete were great for it. Truthfully all the formaldehyde from the body's is probably eventually seeped into the roots of the tree.

    Imagine if they would preserve it's main stump, and the stuff that was cut down would be created into timber to build fancy furniture and stuff like that, e.g. a chair that only the rich could afford, because the timber came America's oldest oak tree that died
