Been struggling to place a zipper pull on an upholstry zipper chain. Never done this before in 45 years of sewing / creating history. Your video gave my the confidence to get " the job done". Wish you could have seen the whooping & dancing. Thank you.
Your video was incredibly helpful and saved me the lengthy task of installing a new zipper (which I despise) on a pair of jeans. Luckily for me, the tooth that is missing is near the top so after manually engaging all teeth from the bottom up to the missing tooth (about an inch from top) I was able to get the zipper pull back on, then slid it down the entire length of the zipper. I then used a needle and thread to completely fill in (overly so, creating a bump-out) the space of missing tooth, thereby creating a block so the zipper pull will not go off-track again! Thank you for the close-ups shots for better visual understanding. You rock!

Everything made sense and worked for me right up to the very end. Can't figure out how to get the slider over the stops that are at the top of each row of teeth. This is on a hoodie so there isn't a lot of working room.
if your missing like 3-4 of the metal teeth on the main zipper and also the slider is missing, can the metal zipper be repaired or must the entire zipper be replaced in its entirety? I'm dealing with a vintage Leather motorcycle jacket here and all the pockets have metal zippers and there are sliders on both pockets that say YBS on them and I am not sure if its the same size as the main zipper on the center of jacket, because the slider is lost. Can anyone provide some direction or advice? Thanks !

Help! tried hard but couldnt “button” the metal zipper on my bag where the zipper is open from end to end and both ends are separated. So i tried putting it in from the other side with open side of the zipper first but end up sliding the puller in without the zipper closing. How to solve this pls?
So i finally buttoned the zipper and put the slider in from the top but when i pull the slider back up the zipper still doesnt close. Does this mean the slider is broken?

you probably need the piece that it sides into to the zipper to start it. Or you need to remove one of the teeth from the other side of the zipper to make it even. It wont zip up evenly if not. There are also zipper stoppers. I needed the stopper part so I took it off and old jacket.
You mentioned that two way zippers have slightly different teeth and sliders, is it possible to turn a single zipper into a two way one i.e. for a jacket ?
If the zipper is for a jacket and the bottom portion, what we call the "pin and box" are damaged, there's not much more you can do to repair it. You'll have to replace the entire zipper as a whole to be able to the jacket again. Wish I had better news.
